Sad story but again another one "stranded" in Thailand, begging to get home. No medical insurance? Or not covered? Doesn't really say. Seems a lot of people who live overseas particularly in SEA have no real interest in their well being.

I can understand older people who just can't get insured which is rubbish  and short term stayers who veer clear of travel insurance as there is so many things it doesn't cover but to live overseas and not have the best private health cover you can afford is insane. I don't know if that's the case here neither article provides much info about the accident or his hospital stay. Thankfully he is now with family and friends.

The problem with insurance policies is that they have so many non payout clauses that they are almost worthless.

For example, I checked the small-print on my last policy and it states that it may not pay out if I have been drinking. It doesn't state how much, having said that I always insure myself on the off-chance that if I do require medical intervention my alochol level  is within "limits" ????

Why not waive the quarantine now for vaccinated tourists. Why wait for October, what will be different then? Philippines has already wajved the quarantine fir 5 islands and last week 2500 headed to Boracay. You better hurry before it's too late.

Vaccinated or not, you could still be a carrier....that's their view anyhow.

I understand the quarantine. What I don't understand is why it takes 14 days and 3 tests...

Vaccinating with British AstraZeneca (produced in India) is the main reason for all of the problems. This vaccine only prevents severe symptoms. It does not stop the spread of the disease.
When they vaccinate everyone with Sinovac - the result will be exactly the same as in China - No COVID at all.

    Rubbish on both counts.

Overseas nationals who cannot return home due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will be able to extend their visa until the end of July to give them peace of mind that they can stay in the UK until they are able to return home safely.

The extension will last until 31 July and will apply to anyone whose leave expired after the 24 January and cannot leave the country because of travel restrictions or self-isolation.

While the government has offered this extension to help those who are unable to get home prior to 31 July, those currently in the UK on temporary visas, such as visitor visas, should return home as soon as it is safe and possible to do so.

Yes we saw this and that's why we asked however this is primarily aimed at those who cannot return to their countries because there are no flights.

Also, I don't want to get into the position when applying for another visa that it causes problems because of a possible overstay - despite what they say.

That’s if you haven't pegged it by then my friend The Astra Zeneca is perfectly safe all my family have had it back in the U.K. with no side effects

Yes relatively safe. You have more chance of getting a blood clot from flying than you do from the AZ vaccine.

As for side-effects, my energy levels did drop considerably for a day something that also happened to a few of my friends.

    From the airlines website,

Passengers entering or transiting through Abu Dhabi (AUH) from the United Kingdom must have a printed negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at most 72 hours before departure of the last direct flight to United Arab Emirates. The test result must be in Arabic or English and must be issued by an approved laboratory listed on https://screening.purehealth.ae or a laboratory accredited by the United Kingdom.

how ever, it also seems to say otherwise

    https://www.qatarairways.com/en-gb/visa-and-passport-requirements.html?iid=ALL88789980

I would contact the airline by email or web chat, the unknown is always what rules will change tomorrow

    Thanks.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Qatar airlines don't require a Covid test. It's Thai immigration I am more worried about.

  7. I am still a little confused as to wether Mrs Chelseafan needs to have a covid test 72 hours before departure.

She is flying from London to Bangkok on Qatar in May. We have established that this airline doesn't require a Covid test and my understanding is that she doesn't need a Covid certificate when returning to Thailand.

She is adamant that when she applied for her COE that it stated (in Thai) that she needed a Covid test pre-departure.

    Can anyone confirm ?

    Thanks
