  1. Or even cheaper if you got proper visa so you don't have to run around trying to game the system.
  2. If you have another phone with SIM from same operator, you can open app, select "Pay for others" and top-up from app to account of SIM in your router.
  3. +662 572 8500 or [email protected]. I would try to check if the blue book is with you or if not and you're certain that you forgot it at home, have someone send it over to you, before you return. Missing stamp "which you didn't notice" is much easier to explain than missing book altogether.
  4. Your passport and blue book will both need to be stamped, and since you'll have a big "Non-Quota Immigrant Visa" in the passport, should any mess happen on the way, it can be sorted out with immigration upon your return to Swampy or at Chaeng Wattana. I had a missing stamp in blue book, only passport was stamped, and on return to airport (I went to tourist police as I didn't know where else to ask) someone from immigration got called over, took my passport and came back with that sorted out. Still, I would go to the ones handling your immigration stuff and ask whether you can handle this by yourself or ask to talk to person who would do it, to handle it separately from the rest. As long as your non-quota immigrant visa and endorsement are still valid, you should not have an issue but both books need to be stamped in and out.
  5. Signs outside from a very honest candidate for this area, claiming if elected, he would end the blacklist for loans. Very clever... I suspect there must be his pal somewhere else campaigning with forcing banks to give loans to everyone...
  6. Alternative to moving is to stay in this building until it collapses on them. Then they might get a permanent home 6 ft under...
  7. Estimate value of the art to 1 billion baht and make him pay or sit in jail until he does.
  8. The man who put this in motion is groomed to become Thailand's next Prime Minister...
  9. Some products now have RAM and flash chips soldered to the mainboard and cannot be changed/upgraded. That mostly goes for ultra-slim notebooks but some not so slim models do the same. If you see something like above, it is basically not upgradeable. Assuming you are picking a model that has M.2 and RAM sockets, you could likely get the shop selling you the notebook to upgrade it for you. Some models like HP's ZBook 16/17 Fury/Studio Workstation have a no-screw removable bottom plate, where you can insert up to 4 RAM SODIMM and 4 M.2 SSD sticks. You don't need any tools, and can do it by yourself in 3 minutes. Just make sure you power it off first, before plugging RAM or SSD in. This way you can add (say base model has 16 GB RAM, you can increase that to 112 GB, and say it has 512 GB SSD, you could increase that by added drives to 12.5 TB without removing what's installed), or if removed and replaced to max out, usually a bit more complicated to reach, to 128 GB RAM and 16 TB SSD over 4 drives. I am not aware of any other notebook that can do that. But for most of others, upgrade is possible by removing bottom plate and replacing the original parts. To see whether your desired model has replaceable RAM and SSD, search for that model's teardown or iFixIt repair pages, which show how they look inside and what can/cannot be replaced.
  10. Which means there is effort put into what they do and money changes hands, hence they would require work permit, right?
  11. From what I understand they have thermal cameras and anyone above 37.5 gets pulled away and given ATK. My colleague in Malaysia says nobody mentioned any costs of that test itself, but if positive, then person would get RT-PCR test and if confirmed positive, would be quarantined, which is charged for. But many details are lacking in their media as well so it's not really clear what happens. So issue is only if someone has fever on arrival, or is showing visible symptoms of flu - which would lead to testing, and only if positive, costs may occur. Didn't get the answer to question whether one has an option to leave the country instead of going through quarantine if positive.
  12. The second they land, they'll buy 10 condos each, or how should I read the above?
  13. Malaysia just introduced testing for all arrivals and you'll be put in quarantine if you show any fever or other flu/COVID symptoms. Not sure Channel News Asia is allowed to be linked here - but go to their website and it's right near the top - Breaking news.
  14. If you're renting on AirBnB for over 30 days per stay, and declare income (many don't) as personal income and pay tax on it, there should be no issue if you own the place in your name. Don't know what happens if it's a Thai quota and you buy a place owned by a company? If you decide to go that way though, and don't live next to it and clean it by yourself, you would probably need to hire someone to manage it for you. Usually that's someone at condo sales office (if project isn't closed yet) or in juristic office, who then hires a maid and gets the place cleaned, bedware washed/changed, etc between tenants, as well as that "agent" doing inspection of damage on moving in/out. I have rented a condo for parents for 4 months and the owner had a lady from sales office managing the place for him in that way, hence recommending it.
  15. Like what you see the rating of the sellers as a buyer, sellers also see your rating as a buyer. Refusing COD for international shipping and having it returned to seller in China will incur quite some costs to the seller - as well as to Flash for processing and then re-claiming importing duties, taxes, and so on. Of course you can do it. I just wish the 1.5k cheaper seller fails to tell you that you'll have to do your own customs clearance, ending up costing you 5x the price difference.
  16. The only shop I've done repairs (outside Apple's service centers) was https://www.houkandbank.com/ They have shop at Soi Mahadthai (Lat Phrao 122/Ramkhamhaeng 65) next to Tong Charoen mansion, or MBK, though I've never been to their MBK shop. They did good work on mobile devices, but no idea about battery swapping on a MacBook Pro. Maybe worth asking. They have FB and Line as well and are responsive, the owner speaks good English as well so you can ask him. That said.. for pricey/complicated to do stuff I'd personally pick Apple's own service center at Central World or ICON Siam. And on the plus side - after battery swap, the keyboard will look like new! https://support.apple.com/th-th/mac/repair This is the site to check price of repair and make a booking.
  17. You can go to Apple support site and enter serial number, to determine your exact model of the notebook (or phone or tablet, etc.) and you'll get a list of service centers in town and the price for each. For some, an appointment online from that page is required, others you can just walk in. I would recommend (if you're in Bangkok) to make appointment with Apple Store at Central World, as they would make sure that all backups are done, make a full checkup of notebook before service, take about 2 hours to replace battery (also replaces keyboard and trackpad on MacBook Pro!), without some on-top commissions like some other iCare service centers. You'll know what I mean when you see prices of other shops. Alternative is to take it to place like MBK or Fortune and have someone replace only battery, using heat pads and acid to remove old battery from the casing, possibly damaging it. Unfortunately the keyboard/trackpad/battery is a single part which is glued together with a very strong adhesive. Newer models (16" and M1/M2 models) have replaced that glue with pull tabs. But previous versions of MBP unfortunately use glue. You can search for your model on ifixit.com to see the whole procedure. It'll probably put you off from allowing someone at MBK do it. I've successfully replaced battery on MBP and iPad. Was it fun? Not at all and things could have so easily gone bad. I was just lucky.
  18. The only time people cared about the traffic rules was just after military removed red shirt protesters and put men with rifles into intersections. No more red light running, no more other dangerous maneuvers, no running over pedestrians... afraid of getting shot. Maybe replace police with snipers and people will behave? Or at least give them a very big gun and camouflage uniform...
  19. Many on this forum dismissed COVID as a mild cold and non-event and posted "enough already" type messages about COVID, vaccines, masks, restrictions, etc. So what's the big deal? This is an easy way to infect much of Thai population with some unseen strain of COVID from China. As for not putting restrictions up... well, every thing has consequences. Anyone coming in from Thailand now is required to do RT-PCR 72 hours before departure and upload it to government website or get rejected entrance to India. It's just a matter of time before other countries do similar. So either you restrict entrance to Chinese and have access to the rest of the World, or you let Chinese in unchecked and the rest of the World shuts you out. It's really up to Thai government which way it wants to go. My bet is on the latter option, though.
  20. Why not show this as a proof of Thailand's roads not being particularly safe to be on... And yes, this is part 51! There are 50 more before this one.
