Using 110V Electronics in Thailand?
tomazbodner replied to Danderman123's topic in The Electrical Forum
That was an example photo of how approximately they look like. Mine is grounded and has 3 pin plug, but of the 2 sockets, one is 100V US-stype only, and the other is same as input, 220V, with universal plug. Different models will have different configurations. -
Using 110V Electronics in Thailand?
tomazbodner replied to Danderman123's topic in The Electrical Forum
50W 220-240 to 100-120V converters are very cheap and small, and just plug into the socket, then you plug the appliance into them. 100V ones are a lot harder to find. I have several japanese appliances (as they were only made for Japanese market and there was never an international version) and for those I use a rather large 500W transformer from 220/230/240V (selectable) to 100V. It is a very hefty box, and cost me about 3000 baht each at PowerMall in Paragon. So far those boxes have been used for many years, non stop, and there is yet to be any problem with them. They might be available online. -
According to their foreign ministry websites, passport to enter Cambodia must be valid for "a minimum of 6 months" and Laos, passport must be valid "at least 6 months on day of entry". That would likely mean that if you tried, you'd be rejected unless you're lucky enough to see a blind immigration officer. Also another thing - even if you managed to get there somehow - make sure you could re-enter Thailand with a passport that expires in less than 6 months. As visa on arrival or visa exempt you could not. And if you apply for a visa in Laos or Cambodia, I think it's also requirement that passport outlasts visa and is valid at least 6 months.

Does Voltaren/diclofenac require prescription in Thailand?
tomazbodner replied to cdemundo's topic in Health and Medicine
Got Voltaren from Watsons' pharmacist without prescription. Got lots of stuff that would 100% surely require prescription in Europe from Diamond Pharmacy in front of Siriraj hospital. Of course, my doctor was fuming as Diamond is at least 5-10x cheaper than hospital pharmacy (even when excluding the outpatient fees). -
Military-backed senators refuse to back MFP form a government
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They say keep friends close but enemies even closer. Invite Prayuth to join coalition and get that senator approvals, then appoint him Minister for Military Procurement Affairs or something like that. That way you take away the power of criticism (he can't complain about government as he's part of it), while at the same time keeping him in control by giving him a post with basically no power. Replace Prayuth with any other name that would achieve the same. Prawit. Anutin. Whoever. -

Thaksin Tweets He Wants to Return to Thailand by July
tomazbodner replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand, like most other countries, operates by the country's constitution and own laws. Not Google and Wikipedia posts. And if you really want to go there: if courts are illegal, then so are other government agencies. Including immigration that granted you permission of stay. Hence your visa/extension is invalid. Or is this pick and choose whatever suits your agenda? -

This is a major loss for not only his family and this forum, but for the entire expat community in Thailand. His selfless dedication to help others out of pickle, based on facts rather than hearsay will be dearly missed. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. -
Private Bangkok hospitals having the Covid vaccine?
tomazbodner replied to JemJem's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
THG hospital group keeps on bombarding me with the offers of their vaccines. So they surely have it. There was a big poster at Phyathai 1 hospital as well for Pfizer. I guess you can call them to ask directly as I haven't been there in a few months so maybe things changed. -

Middle of the night, wife wakes up husband and whispers: There's a burglar downstairs! He broke into kitchen and is eating the cake I just baked yesterday... Husband: OKkkk, who should I call to come then? Police or ambulance? -
I have a question on that split. If 2 people marry, and one of them bought a property on loan, which hasn't yet been paid off on the day of marriage, does that property also get included in 50:50 split? Example: one of them bought a house on say 10 year loan, it is say 8 years paid off already, 20% left (for the figure), when the couple gets married. If they later divorce - what happens to the house? Is the other partner entitled to half of 20% or half of the whole house? Have a friend who married a German guy and borrowed from others to pay off the condo loan before wedding to avoid him getting 50% in case they divorced. I was wondering if that was necessary.

Unhinged Bangkok taxi driver threatens to murder passenger

That's absolutely NOT true. Though a percentage of <deleted> around Ratchaprasong, preying on tourists is far above the average. Possibly only airports (and Pattaya/Phuket) can top that.- 43 replies

How many times does it have to state that car had "significant damage"? This is not significant damage. It takes a day in garage to get a new light fixture, pull out the metal, plaster, polish and respray it. Significant damage would be if the entire front got smashed to pieces. Notice the difference?
