  1. In plain language - it is a battery, which powers your computer or other things plugged in it (in your case up to 720W total power consumption) for a short time (10-20 minutes, depending on how much power they use) while there is a power outage on the sockets. This model also has a surge protection, which means that when there are power spikes on the power line, instead of damaging your equipment, this box will either filter them out, if spikes are not very high, or kill itself to protect your equipment plugged in if the spike is very high. If you have a PC, and (non-laser) printer, a screen... you could plug them in for protection and power backup. Note though - these things come with 2 year warranty, generally. But what you would notice is that the battery inside (which looks like a small version of car battery) could die a lot sooner. It is generally not expensive to replace battery even outside warranty (maybe 500-800 baht).
  2. Would have made his life so much easier if she moved a bit, like half a meter, away from the back of the boat... In either direction ????
  3. Co-owner, as his/her name is on the contract with MEA. I had to go to MEA and sign a contract with my house registration and chanote and "purchase" a meter. So it's in my name. Condo building has nothing to do with it. And if (which I don't) I rented out the place, meter is still in my name so I am legally responsible for electricity getting paid.
  4. Or if you can get someone to post for you in Thai, kaidee.com, which most Thais are familiar with.
  5. In our case, electricity is paid directly to MEA, not to the condo. It shows up in their app, and you can pay for it in the app. As for the water, we don't do prepayment but get the bill every 3 months. It is paid to condo juristic office, but given the warnings I see in the lifts, some don't pay on time. There's a month to pay I think but there's threat of cutting water off if not paid for 6 months. Same for maintenance fees. I can't see how they could do anything about electricity when you don't even pay it to them. It's MEA that would cut power if bills are not paid. No idea for how long, though. If building is a rented apartment, that's a different story though, as there you are paying to apartment, and they pay to MEA/PEA. But even there, I've never seen water or electricity prepayments. Only advance rent and/or deposit for damage of property.
  6. Could pollution over past 2 months have anything to do with it?
  7. Had a similar situation on flight from Australia, and was asked on arrival to be a witness to police over a drunken man who was annoying and assaulting everyone around him. Disappointment of the year was when police at airport gave him 1000 baht fine and let him go. And even for that he wanted to appeal. He's lucky he was flying into Thailand, actually... I wonder what would happen to this man flying into India. Are Indian police that forgiving? Hope not.
  8. Well, maybe this would move Pattaya from World's 3rd most disappointing city to ... 2nd? 4th? https://travel.radicalstorage.com/paris-syndrome/
  9. Maybe should say No problem, but then I may need to redo that survey and change it to officer has asked for a bribe - can I do it again first before paying?
  10. Sorry but if it's in her name, you don't own it. She's the owner on papers, no matter who paid for it. The odds of sorting this in your favour are very slim, in my opinion. All cards are in her hands. Best outcome might be talking to her nicely. If you're still driving it, don't be nasty to her as she could report car stolen to cops, which would get you in serious trouble.
  11. Most hospitals would know what paperwork needs to be issued in case of medical emergency for immigration. All you need to do is to ask the front desk and they'll arrange it. It needs to however be done before the permission of stay date runs out, not after. There of course can be several situations where simply cannot get on the plane. One thing you must understand though is that the decision on whether to grant you extension and for how long is not up to your doctor but the doctor at the immigration. He won't just take paperwork but will do his own assessment. So if you just get some clinic to write some BS on documents and go to immigration to get extension, that could be, and likely will be, rejected. But unless you're in a life threatening condition, don't expect such extension to be long.
  12. So you're planning to have an emergency? Hmm... Look - there are other ways you can ask for extension of stay, or leave country and come back or alike. But depends on how much of an extension you are looking for? A few days? A few weeks? A few months? Years? If you get poisoning you'll need a hospital to write that you are inpatient and unfit to travel. I know it's also possible to get a letter that you are not fit to travel (or rather get a rejection of it from medics at the airport) which could be used to apply for extension due to inability to travel if your permission to stay is running out. But that's only for a few days, and would have a fee of 1900 baht plus travel expenses, etc. so probably in 4-5k baht, all paperwork and travel included. Is that worth it? What are you really trying to achieve?
  13. Just used it. Subway sandwich was nice... Yes, just went for a sandwich. Will they count me into that quota if I go for another one?
  14. At (at least Chaeng Watthana) Immigration they have a doctor, who can approve extensions based on medical grounds. Normally applicant needs to get documentation from doctor/hospital, then visit immigration where doctor does a checkup and checks the documents and then approves or rejects paperwork. I don't know if it's still there, but there used to be office just after entrance to the room for 90 day reporting (to the left of exit from main hall), first door on the left. I haven't done it myself but I was waiting for hours for 90 days report back in the days, standing right in front of that door, which was left open the whole time...
  15. Darn! You must be the first visitor to tell the truth to IO! Can tell you lived in Japan too long ????
  16. Companies can choose 13 days out of that list. Thai companies make it longer Songkran, Chinese companies longer around Chinese New Year, and western companies focus more around New Year. But nobody (not even government and banks) take all that days off.
  17. Gray filter (that comes standard in Air Filter 3C/3H) is HEPA 11. However you can also get HEPA 12, the black filter. No idea what light blue, green and purple filters conform to, just that light blue is basic (standard with 2S), purple is antibacterial, and green one has an extra carbon filter for formaldehyde capture. Xiaomi didn't invent these products. They took over a Korean company and first generation Xiaomi air purifiers were even made in Korea. However you turn it around, they are Korean/Japanese engineered, equipped with NIDEC fans, which is quite a famous Japanese company. Even design is mostly based on the original Korean design, a little bit changed to match the Xiaomi white with black circle display standard look, but this really should not be counted as a Chinese product. The only stuff Xiaomi really added (apart from marketing and near global reach) was the app integration, mass production and distribution capabilities, and service network.
  18. While not recommending it, (as I've only seen it out the window, never been in it) on the eastern side of terminal building is a pretty neat park... It should be accessible as there's public road running right next to it. That said, given she's there for several hours, Airport Link train into the city or at least away from airport to nearest place you know has nice outdoor seating would be a much better choice in my opinion.
  19. You can contact Lazada support in chat on website (and probably mobile app) and show them the status from seller, and they can terminate and refund quicker. If you got message from Lazada that order was cancelled with apology, then it will be automatically refunded, depending on payment method. In my case refunds were processed in minutes. But yes, it is annoying, and worth to check the seller "ship on time" and reviews before ordering...
  20. Take a quick look at where your air cleaner is manufactured. It's right at the back of it. Good units don't necessarily have large filters, but a multi-layered filters, with last one being HEPA. Size of filter will depend on the cavity/fan size/air throughput, but not quality of air coming out of it. As for a popular Korean brand being built to last... you are an entertainer, right?
