  1. Well, it depends if you have any other income. Someone working in Thailand on work permit would have to have 50 or 60k baht a month for annual extensions. So minimum salary would already be 600 or 740k per year. Someone with say 200k per month would have 2.4m per year base. If you now add that 300k, then it will be taxed at 30% it would mean taxed at about 100k. To me, all that this announcement shows is that Thailand is effectively bankrupt in pretty much the same way as Myanmar, demanding 25% share of all earnings their citizens make abroad. While I don't mind paying my fair share of taxes here, and yes, this would probably make me sell off the shares abroad, it is unclear whether this is effective for 2023 taxes or for FY 2024 taxes - meaning, does it need to be declared in 2023 tax filing in Q1 of 2024, or for 2024 financial year, declared in first quarter of 2025? If the latter, I'll probably get rid of all foreign savings and investments and keep them away from Thai government, but if it's former, then it's already too late anyway. That said - I was told that in any case, Thailand didn't only tax earnings but entire amounts even now. There was someone in this forum claiming that. For example - I pay tax on 1 million baht income. With it, I buy 1 million baht stock say in Singapore. Leave them for 5 years. And now they are worth say 1.1 million baht (for the figure). Normally, I should only be taxed on 100k that value increased. But apparently, transferring the amount back to Thailand, I'd need to pay tax on entire 1.1 million baht, which would make investment there a total loss. If taxed at say 30%, that would mean a loss of over 200k. If I just transfer money to a friend in another country and that person returns to me the same amount a month later, I need to declare entire amount as my personal income and pay tax on it. That's pretty much lunatic.
  2. You would, if you were actually moving, not just lie down and wait to be served...
  3. I think it was about 9k baht for 14 Pro Max for Apple Care. And it had some limitations, like it was only covering first incident and not 100%... I can't remember what it was again. So many believe that it's not worth it. But then again, when it's a portable device, the chance of it getting damaged, lost, stolen, etc. is much higher than a desktop computer, hence I understand why compared to price of product, it's higher than their computers. Service of Apple, when item is well taken care of (looks like new on the outside but has electronic problem) is usually very good and includes item replacement. If it's beaten up, they'll replace with "refurbished" though.
  4. They do but China embassy is all about business. While you need reasonable amount of paperwork, you can get express visa within a couple of hours. Obviously that's far more expensive than a "standard" visa with slower processing times
  5. Take my phone and show me...
  6. Needs something stronger than that to come up with those figures...
  7. Has anything other than pot been legalized?
  8. So darn true. But if Steve was still alive, he'd tell you either that you're holding it wrong, or that this is a feature against forgetting where you've put it. If your pants get pulled down, it's in your pants pockets. If your bag strap snaps, it's in your bag. It's all by design!
  9. Must be forgiven. Used TAT's version of calculator.
  10. Rent him a "girlfriend" at the other end of Thailand... I think they made a few movies about that, not very realistic as they were Hollywood versions... Failure to launch or something like that was one of them...
  11. What difference does it make? He'll be out in a few days anyway...
  12. Mine isn't commercial fridge but is full of fans... then again, 3 sungs does things their own way...
  13. From what I remember, the company you work for and requests WP for you must either be registered in Thailand and have 2 million THB registered capital per each foreign worker as well as 4? 7? Thai staff on payroll; or it is a representative office of a foreign company, registered in Thailand but there WP has a limited duration, which I can't remember what it was. Anything else, you might be able to get away with it by being a digital nomad, and have that smart visa or whatever it's called, but in that case, without WP, it will be difficult to do many simple things, where work permits are generally required, such as opening bank account. Not saying impossible, just difficult. There are some other visa types recently introduced that allow you to work in Thailand without work permit, but they are quite out of reach to many/most expats. Above is written from memory and might be incorrect now. Would be worth to wait for some other responses with more updated information.
  14. Don't get it why not copy Magdeburg and make "Kra canal" like this: Would avoid having to move cargo from one ship to another and trucks in between, as ships could just sail right through... Singapore would be upset, though. Very upset. Just that alone (under table payments NOT to build it) could equate or exceed commissions for building the land bridge...
  15. Aguston, Sukhumvit 22 used to have units for rent available at that rate but not sure right now. https://www.agustonsukhumvit22.com/ Obviously all prices on this page are inflated. Check on hipflat or ddproperty or alike for more realistic figures. I'm just posting it as a friend is staying there and paying around 20-25k per month on rent. Dogs are certainly allowed and you can hear them barking from balconies, cats not sure, probably.
  16. How totally unexpected turn of events...
  17. I've heard of this many times, but when asking for details, I get mud. It's not like it applies to me, but the topics of what nationality does a child, born in Thailand, where both parents have a Thai PR, is still very elusive. Would you know if there is any merit in this? Last time I've brought up this topic I was told I better not ask those who got citizenship in this way how they got it, as it was likely under the table. But I can't see why this "rumour" of a way of getting citizenship this way would circulate for such a long time if there was nothing to it at all...
  18. Looks very much like Trust Condo...
  19. Why would you avoid Lazada? They have official stores from most large computer companies. If you go to their official store or to LazMall, that should always show manufacturer's warranty that comes with the device. There are also shops like IT City, ChiChang Computer, etc. that have stores in Lazada and provide genuine hardware with all the same warranties as in store. I've received product that was defective (minor visual annoyance) which the shop accepted as a return, opened the new one in store and showed it off in a video to make sure replacement had no issues, before shipping it to me. So it's not really about Lazada or not Lazada. It's about store you choose on their platform (or any other platform) which either is trustworthy or it's not. So if you know the brand, model, shop price, shop warranty - then the online shops should offer same for same or very similar price. If you get any weird price offers and the full price is totally off, sending from overseas, and shop having only a few or no reviews and named after what keyboard outputs when cat walks over it... then stay away. Especially if it says Brand: OEM or None at the bottom of the description.
  20. Was just thinking... set 100 baht maximum fare on plane tickets? Or give a condo to every tourist?
