Is living in Thailand better health-wise than elsewhere?
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I guess South of Thailand, by the sea, has nice climate and good air quality, affordable and quality food. Anywhere north from there, however, is only suitable if you're very interested in lung cancer. -

It's really nasty to make hoaxes like that, and I hope karma is swift and cruel.- 26 replies

I know a few government workers who have loans beyond that on their new luxury SUVs at 15k/month salary... -
Drunk drivers could face jail time without suspension during Songkran

Just follow what works. Take Australia model. If driver is drunk, car goes into press. With 12 years of payments left on it, that's quite a harsh punishment... -
Computer desk with sliding keyboard shelf - where to buy in Pattaya?
tomazbodner replied to simon43's topic in Pattaya
Lazada is also selling drawers to mount on a normal desk that have a sturdy plate as a pull-out drawer. Was considering it but my desk is too low for comfortable use. Example: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/clamp-on-26x12-i2444875233-s8473548225.html -
We have lots of complaints at our condo of 30-50% higher power bills than usual for March. Mine was about 20% higher, so I'll wait to see what April brings, but apparently some meters were found broken, and electricity authority was informed, as were tenants to pay the bill and there would be deduction in following bills. I do blame my higher bill on the hot part of March, though. A few days were VERY hot. Though admittedly, near the end of the month it was much cooler than expected. Let's see what next month's bill looks like before raising alarm.

Can't write hospital name (we all know why), but I had kidney stones, and found Nurofen work the best for the pain when any of them gets stuck. But during this time blood pressure gets high, and worried about it, another doctor recommended Valsartan to counter that. Works a treat. Now... what he didn't tell me, beyond "paracetamol maybe being better than NSAIDs) was that taking Valsartan and Nurofen causes renal failure. Basically kidneys fail. Of course, since you get just pills with take x per day after meal instructions, I wasn't aware of these side effects until... well, until it was sort of too late. That took 6+ months to recover from. Lesson learned after good 250,000 baht additional hospital bill: always google up the side effects of every medicine prescribed before taking it. No matter who prescribes it. That way I've learned that another medicine prescribed was banned by much of the World 20 years ago...

It's COLD in April-the hottest month of the year
tomazbodner replied to pkspeaker's topic in General Topics
It's actually pleasant 21.6 C in my end of Bangkok now, with AQI meter proudly displaying 6 right now. In fact, yesterday was the first time ever I saw a 0 on it... like, EVER. That was during the very strong wind in the morning. At that time temperature was 27 but felt far lower. -
This is just a thought, I'm by no means a legal expert on this... but - the condo is in a Thai name, the owner is OP's wife, and it was bought before marriage. I don't think the foreign husband has any word in selling it, since according to authorities, the place is 100% owned by the wife. From what I understand in case of divorce, anything that is gained during marriage would be split, but not what was owned before marriage. And condo is in her name, so basically no matter who paid for it, it belongs to her. As such, I do not believe she needs husband's permission to sell it, unless there was some other contract between the 2 partners, prohibiting the sale... Land department would only care about who is listed on chanote. I doubt OP's name is listed on the right side of the table. But hope someone with legal background can give a definitive answer.

Thai-China Submarine Deal Runs Aground on EU Arms Embargo
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Attack submarine? Who does Thailand plan to invade by sea?? -
People have accidents and survive. Sure, they might be paralyzed, they might have brain damage, they might remain vegetables. But they survived! So why bother with all this drink and drive, seat belts, etc. Just let people drink, drive like idiots, smash themselves (and others!) up, instead of all this <deleted> around road safety!

Another Boeing 737....dived down , now in China
tomazbodner replied to david555's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Not surprised. Pilots follow "Aviate, navigate, communicate" rule. Where flying the plane, knowing where you are and where you can go is far more important than letting someone know about it, who can't help you in anything in case of emergency. So it is not unusual that pilots don't respond when in critical situation. -
Air Fryers: Give me your expert advice.
tomazbodner replied to Adumbration's topic in General Topics
That thing works exactly the same as air fryer. Air fryer just has another layer of plastic around it and the door to open at the bottom rather than the lid to open at the top. Blowing hot air at close proximity at food however is exact same technology the air fryers use. -
You should be in charge of naming airplanes at Boeing...

That's not true. It recovered fair bit from first days of invasion, and with Russia now planning to only allow local currency to be used to pay for gas, which many European countries have no alternative for, it may well recover all the losses of recent month. 1:2.61 on Feb 24, 1:2.91 now. Not much of a difference. Certainly not "the sky is falling, water is burning" crisis.

our local barber is 250 baht for haircut. They raised the price when they bought all the equipment to sanitise the shop after every customer, which is perfectly fine. Small place, 3 guys in there, very friendly. No need to explain what to do as it's same one every time and already knows. Gladly pay them double that to at least a bit compensate for lack of customers since COVID hit.
