  1. I see in my area they clean them out periodically. His drain looks a good job , it will not fall apart for years. Some are built with prefabricated concrete. They are not so good as they can shift over time. The 58 year old homeless man should be happy
  2. They are building a storm water drain .His house will be less likely of any flooding when finished .
  3. Yes it would be for the pick up trucks for sure . Sales would go down and the car producers would complain but the mission to reduce accidents would be achieved.
  4. I asked Bangkok Bank for a foreign currency account and was told I would have to go to the head office in Bangkok to open the account as there is no branch in Chiang Mai that can make that possible . I asked if I can buy foreign currency with Thai baht to place in the FCD account .The answer was no as you can only transfer foreign currency into the FCD account from outside Thailand . Can anyone confirm that the advice i received from Bangkok bank is correct ?
  5. Try opening a bank account in Vietnam . You may get your 17 percent there .
  6. Thank you , I have the same impression on the advertising of trucks . I use a motorcycle most days and agree with your comment.
  7. I drove a 3 ton truck for 10 years that limited my speed to 90 kph . If I tampered with the device I would be in trouble with the law and insurance. That is need that here too , but obviously they would be removed . Little hope for them
  8. Problems start with the way pickup trucks are marketed . There should be rules how they can advertise this type of vehicle as the buyer is fooled into thinking that the vehicle can be compared to a low centre of gravity sports car . However 37 percent of accidents involved pickup trucks in 2020. Even travelling at a speed of 100 kph can be far more dangerous in a pickup if you have to make a sharp turn to avoid an accident because of the height of the vehicle's qnd don't forget that pedestrians are also at a far higher risk of death if struck by these large fronted heavy vehicles.. 180 to 200 kph is a crazy speed for a truck if you have to steer around a problem. It will roll over well before a modern saloon car.
  9. A ford Raptor will manage 200 kph which i believe to be too fast for a truck . Isuzu pick up truck has a top speed of ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY ALSO TOO FAST
  10. Chiang Mai is a bad comparison with Bangkok . Chalk and cheese
  11. Why do the Move Forward leadership leave themselves vunerable ? They have the advantage of knowing what to expect after the Future Forward Party farce .
  12. Give the Spanish a break , just deny the guys a passport and they can enjoy Brighton.
  13. Once in the clutches of finance businesses in that you can not service the debt you will be forever smitten. East or West.
  14. Could well be , time will tell who is correct. It will depend on the election result that could well take months . Move forward Stocky
  15. On the contrary Mr Chip , Mr Joke is the one that needs to look over his shoulder .
  16. When Prayut finds out he has no cards to play with as a result of the general election he could be the first with a second coup .
  17. I dont know about that either , why he wanted to mention the hore price in a town is beyond me
  18. You dont like the army ,ok Why choose Thailand to live ? Do not worry about block chain when 90 percent of the population have no idea what it means
  19. Can only be driven from morning to dusk . Tell them to get the correct plates before payment for the car or forget the sale
  20. I suggest you speak for your self regarding the usefullness of others on this site . There are many that contribute in a positive way not just Ubon Joe . However there are many in the same profession as Ubon Joe have a lot to learn .
  21. Ubon Joe as I new him on Thai Visa and now Asia Now was a man I had respect for . His knowledge on the Thai Immigration rules was deep and varied . He was of great help to myself on a number of times and once quite recently . He also came over as a gentleman in my view . A comment i have made to people over many years is I only have faith in comments made from Ubon Joe . Now he is gone and there are a few that can well take over from him yet i think it will take some time for that to happen . Sorry to know of your death Joe
  22. I believe you are correct , it appears to be a buyer beware product . With some policies there is a stipulation of a maximum engine size of 125 cc , therefore you rent a 150 cc motorcycle you could be in problems .
  23. Travel insurance tourists take out from there home country often stipulate the use of motorcycles are not covered .
  24. If you rent a bike as a tourist you are offered the same miserable amount of government insurance which amounts to around 35000 baht if you are at fault as a Thai . That amount would be gone overnight if you were to be taken to a private hospital . There is a higher amount on offer if the accident was proven that you were not at fault . Tourist or a Thai National it is the same . Most tourist are uninsured when mounting a motorcycle license or no license due to the contract they agree too . Be careful out there when giving out false information . I doubt if the young man will ever be normal again but I hope i am wrong .
