  1. Why the government can refer to the pension as a welfare benefit, they made it one for some.
  2. No Electronic fax is purpose made software designed to meet fax requirements. For legal reasons, fax was and is the only recognised alternative to snail mail for certain documents. These days some documents can be sent by email if the document is password protected. Of course that also requires purpose software. At the end of the day if an organisation requests a document by fax it is not up to anyone on here to question that request. The OP only asked for some information.
  3. Not a recognised legal option.
  4. I was stung by one on the finger about 3 weeks ago. It was like a vaccination with a red hot needle and my whole hand became swollen, took about 4 days for hand to go back to normal and you can still see the puncture mark. My niece is a doctor and said I should go along to the clinic and get tetanus jab and antibiotics. I had been moving rubble ant that type of scorpion lives in the ground so a bigger risk from soil bacteria than the venom itself. The doctor said he didn't think the puncture was deep enough to be a tetanus risk but suggested I have it anyway. Gave me a course of antibiotic and some other pills for headache and nausea, job lot came to 240 baht. The vaccine was free, just 30 baht for the nurse to stick the needle in.
  5. Of course they do, fax is about the only way to send a legal copy of a document, either by physical or electronic fax.
  6. The real problem here is that foreigners want Thais to think the same way they do - never going to happen. As a nation, the Thais know how to survive much better than most. They recovered from the 1997 crash relatively quickly, took the Tsunami in their stride and dealt with Covid much better than the west. I would have thought that foreigners should be looking closer at there own countries rather than what Thailand is doing, after all if things do get tough we could all be kicked out under the first rule of survival.
  7. I couldn't see Koh Chang on that website, but did see Koh Kood. This statement appears on the info. Please Note: this journey comprises 2 parts, by bus between Pattayah and Trat, and by ferry between Trat and Koh Kood. The cost of the bus ticket is included in your booking. https://ssl.directferries.com/ferry/secure/booking_redirect_df.aspx?stdc=DF10&grid=0&rfid=4231&psgr=2&curr=1&retn=true&rfidr=4232&outd=2024-08-15&outt=9&retd=2024-08-18&rett=17&exp-dealfinderVersion=A&dfusrpid=dadd38e8-62bc-4910-bf48-bf32f505a947
  8. Strange how many that were contracted out seem to think they are being deprived of a full state pension. Following the 1975 pension reforms the government ditched the Graduated Pensions scheme and introduced a two tier State pension arrangement. In their infinite wisdom they allowed those on an occupational pension scheme to "contract out", where part of their NI contributions that would have provided the Earnings Related Additional State Pension was diverted and paid into the occupational pension. Initially this arrangement applied to a certain type of scheme and then in 1988 the scope was widened to include other types and private pensions. At this point in time the government paid an additional 2% of earnings into these pensions for 5 years as an incentive for people to "contract out" The whole arrangement was blatant discrimination against those that were unable to "contract out", with many of the participants being quite oblivious to what was happening in respect of their NI contributions. We now have people receiving their occupational pensions which were partialy funded by the state to include their Additional State Pension and those that receive their Additional State Pension directly from the state. The former will have their ASP index linked whereas the latter may not. More recent reforms brought about an end to contracting out and changed the rhetoric around the state pension to that of a single entity in moves to try and hide the injustice and eventually turn the state pension into an old age welfare benefit.
  9. You shouldn't be posting such misleading information. Not all extensions are treated in the same way. You cannot even do a 12 month marriage extension in the same province as you live if there is more than one office, you must use the office for your area. I knew someone that got sent from one office to the other.
  10. You ought to have said that in the beginning. Hopefully he may agree to improvements but I suspect unlikely, after all Thai tenants are not going to say anything.
  11. About 4pm they all come and sit around near the cages waiting to be fed, the food is put in the cages and they just follow, know where to go. Now and again one or two may have to be rounded up. We had one disappear for about 2 years, there were reports of it living rough around the village and then one day it just decided to came back. Think it was looking for help, died not long after.
  12. There are 3 houses on the property, that would give us 15 by your reckoning, been close to that at times. The dogs have also come off the street, maybe you would prefer they were left there rather than fed and vaccinated.
  13. Local grounding is a fairly common practice, but like most things in this life quality has a role to play. My water pumps came with a 2 core cable and a piece of green/yellow wire attached to the casing. If you are concerned the best bet would be to have a main earth point established and that wired to the consumer unit and all outlets/appliances. I suspect from the age your wiring is on the surface, they just run the earth wire alongside the existing cables and into the outlets. Seen it done in other properties and shouldn't be particularly expensive.
  14. There is always one who would think that rescuing cats, looking after their health and feeding them is sad. The cats are normally only in the cages overnight, somewhere safe for them to sleep. We have about 10 dogs and they have very poor eyesight at the best of times, in the dark anything that moves is a target.
  15. I gave up with BA after several years. I took them to court twice. The first time they gave in and settled out of court. The second time was a bit more contentious and looked like going to court, but then covid came along making things a bit awkward so I dropped it.
  16. We have a lot of land but they don't go far, bit of hunting among the shrubs for lizards. They all return to the cages at feeding time.
  17. Wrong the author has believed misinformation from other sources. The author also appears to believe, like many others, that Thailand has never had any previous digital wallet initiatives. The 50/50 scheme had 5 phases with participation over 28 million.
  18. Two thirds of Thailands generation is by natural gas, coal hardly has a look in. It cannot be assumed that the costs of today will be the costs of tomorrow and if people want to put money into home installations that is entirely up to them. My annual electricity costs are not a great deal more than they were 10 years ago so any ROI is unlikely to be less than my life expectancy.
  19. We have around 60, only one in the house and I think my wife's sister has 2 in her house, the rest are in large cages outside. I built this in 2016 when the numbers started to rise.
  20. If you travel around Thailand at night you will see quite clearly why the government has no need to get involved in handing out incentives. Government grants were invariably a result of an inability to meet demand, for whatever reason. I got energy conservation grants for cavity wall and loft insulation long before anyone had ever heard of solar. The government itself is committed to generation by solar and theoretically that should maintain a reasonable price for the population without the need for large personal investment. Only time will tell.
  21. Freedom of movement is a distorted generalisation and not something that "happened". The issue has little bearing on how ASEAN could look to the EU and benefit from their history.
  22. There certainly was. I used BA quite a lot for a while and can't remember a Gatwick option. Probably no Hethrow slot available at the moment. Now that you can get a train from Gatwick straight across London, now my preferred option.
  23. Stay in context. It is all about threat and the Thai government had a rabies vaccine program in place for cats.
  24. Not surprising. ASEAN is a fairly small economic community, much the same as the European Community was in 1957 when it had only 6 member states. A comparison between the 2 blocs is inevitable.
  25. You are wrong, it was around 10 years to create the European Community, which then evolved into the European Union and continues to evolve. If you want to use the EU example, it should be borne in mind not all agreements included all members. The UK never adopted Schengen or the Euro. Issues have always been there to be resolved.
