I tend to use DeeMoney to send money back to my UK accounts. Very straightforward and fast. I did work it out many years ago and it was cheaper than my BK-Bank account to Natwest account than through the bank system which I'd used previously.

Outside your unit it's the juristic dept. We had one of those pipes burst before and leaked into the apt - we claimed about 100K on the juristic insurance. Re the pipes, in general I'd just use PVC

We're renovating a couple of ours at the moment. We had a couple of issues when the last owner who knocked two apts into one and didn't inform the juristic people of some pipe/plumbing changes. My biggest tip is get the Juristic maintenance head-guy to overlook any structural changes and ensure he agrees and ask for recommendations as they know your condo and the block. They know the issues they experience in maintenance. They also have a plan of everything in it(pipework etc ) - or ours do anyway. My wife has the guy review anything to do with pipes, plumbing, changes etc ( she also has the 5* hotel next door maintenance guy review everything - he actually even does some of the work ) Always go for the best if you plan on staying there.

I was there 10 tears ago with my wife - sister and brother in law. We walked by where the two British kids got killed nightly. We stayed very close by in a surf place and then an expensive hotel further along - both on the beach. I'm amazed as we found it difficult to find bars open at night in the center. Toured most of the place on quad bikes. It's still my screen saver from a superb hotel on the beach.

If something sounds too good to be true - it probably isn't - I very much doubt this is ....

Are you talking Ireland or the northern bit(UK) ???? Different rules as the Republic is EU and not under British control, you couldn't go on a UK visa I believe. You'd probably need a Schengen visa. I have both Irish & UK passport, my wife ILR but she can't go directly to Dublin without a visa BTW - if you're from Cary/Raleigh in NC i hope all is good there - spent a few months there doing some consulting work 20 years ago. Only place I've seen a 50+ year old refused entry to a bar as he didn't have ID.

I own a few condos in Silom/Sathorn so I maybe biased. This is a good place: https://www.bangkokgarden.com/ It's above the international school, you also have some of the best Thai schools on the road. Good restaurants, bars, ameneties. Central shopping center is a few mins walk. Tesco/Lotus close by. Dentist/hairdressers.7-11, massage etc across the road. Chatrium 5* hotel next door. I know many, many European families that live on the Soi. As a family environment I think that area is perfect - not too hustle and bustle, but you can get to the center in mins - especially if you have kids - many after school classes etc

One of the problems here is that the ambulances go with sirens - even if they go out for lunch, so it devalues their impact. My missus is a doctor and she often says the same. They should only be used in emergencies. She's very impressed the way in the UK that the cars always get out of the way immediately at the sound of a siren.

My wife registered for TM30 online whilst we were in London during Covid, a couple of years ago. She then gave the details to our tenants so they were responsible for registering in line with their travels & visa requirements. She didn't / couldn't go to any office as we were in London. The tenants in a couple of apts managed it all fine given the username/password. Also be aware they are stricter on apt tax now - as we were back in London, the missus just went back and had letters re taxes not paid for 4 apts - she couldn't just pay them online & she had to go into each govt office to pay it + fine as she'd missed the reminder too.

My take on this, is I usually go to the best hotel in the place and ask the concierge for a recommendation on tailors - if it's the best hotel they'll know you're looking for top quality material and workmanship. Always have a few days to spare and have three fittings. I don't find BKK to be great.
