  1. What diving course? PADI have no such rules and imposing 'extra' rules will get you struck off. BSAC maybe, but seem to have no schools on Koh Tao.
  2. Too expensive for me, and the one top left looks a bit manly.
  3. Fritz has been retired 20 years, he's way out of date with security. Still gives his credit/debit card numbers to online stores is the give away.
  4. Only if they're holding my phone.
  5. I'm fairly certain my fingerprint is 100% secure, and that's the only information that allows access to my banking apps (and only on my phone). I don't enter debit card details anywhere, that's old tech, move with the times.
  6. Not even sure malware for android phones even exists.
  7. I was in China in 2017, everything seemed very peaceful and relaxed. I walked all over the place on my own, nobody minded. Maybe your book was set in the past.
  8. Tell me what you think the security issue could be? My bank account app is locked to my fingerprint, anything I buy is paid for by scan on delivery, I see no possible problem.
  9. And it was the old guy starting trouble at the young peeps front door. Which was probably why the olds got charged, in Asia they are very protective of residents on/near their property. Elderly foreigner starts trouble and gets an excessive beating. Best to avoid all confrontation.
  10. Tried to take my phone while I was looking at Google maps walking around the town. My grip was stronger then the snatcher riding pillion though, he almost fell off. Warned never to carry anything valuable in the m/c basket (Siam Reap). Never walk on the sidewalk nearest the road (Phnom Penh).
  11. Wifi IS everywhere, unless you're out trekking in the jungle very little need for phone data. Coffee shops, bars, restaurants, hotels, condos ............. Ask for password in every venue once, when having a coffee or beer, use it forever more. Usually faster than the phone data as well. Same in Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines. Enjoy your trip!
  12. Not much in the way of property tax, insurance or maintenance costs on a rented home in Thailand. Rents in Chiang Mai haven't risen in the past 15 years either. My village in the burbs (12Km from moat), 3 bed house rented for 10kbht/month when it was built 12 years back, now they rent for 8kbht/month.
  13. Contact Hargreaves-Lansdown https://www.hl.co.uk/ These are the only investment company that didn't try to cheat me, they have many options for you to to choose from.
  14. Night market where the cooks don't wash their hands after taking a poop, and the food sits out in the sun all day ...... 7-11 food is sealed, safer and microwaved in front of you!
  15. There is no requirement for being able to swim. Divers wear wetsuits and buoyancy jackets. Which fulfil all boat safety requirements. Obviously this doesn't prevent stupidity, and some people take them off.
  16. 2x cow pat gung, 1x grapow moo = 120bht. Why pay for bottled water when what comes out the tap is perfectly good? And if you don't like water, typhoo tea is 120bht for 100 bags, use each one twice.
  17. Monthly Condo in central Chiang Mai 5,000bht (Emporium residence Santitham), electricity and water 500bht, 3 hot meals a day from 7-11 opposite (110bht x 30) 3,300bht. wifi included. That's all your living essentials for 8,800bht a month (under $300).
  18. Airfares are so expensive I expect international travel to reduce everywhere. I haven't been anywhere since COVID doubled airfares, before I was doing 6-8 flights a year.
  19. Of course, so do American liberals.
  20. More likely shut down by remote command from China. Might be a good idea to unplug the wifi dongle.
  21. Your preferred leadership likes killing foreigners in foreign countries ........ that's your moral conviction. Kill thousands with carpet bombing, then save a few with vaccines.
  22. If it were that deadly, we would have all died of it by now.
  23. She can do what she likes during the day, but I've bought all her nights
