Thailand’s new entry fee – boon or bust for tourism?
BritManToo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
I always take a mug and bags of 3in1 and use the free hot water in the airports. I always enjoy having my own mug when everyone else is drinking from paper/plastic cups. Only foolish people pay for a coffee at airport prices. -
Travelling to other countries for holidays and leisure

Dream on, cheap & easy international travel has gone, probably forever. I'm OK with that, getting too old for it now. -
Thailand’s new entry fee – boon or bust for tourism?
BritManToo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
It was always cheaper to fly to China/Vietnam/Cambodia/Philippines than it was to fly on internal flights. And less problems getting from the foreign airports than the Thai airports. And of course another 3 months entry on my 1 year multi entry non 'o'. In Vietnam they even had a airport bus (Saigon/Da Nang/Hanoi) for $1-$2. -
Thailand’s new entry fee – boon or bust for tourism?

They didn't get a dime more from me on any of those flights. -
But none of the candidates have anything in common with 'the people'. They were educated in schools and universities 'the people' couldn't attend. They have health care in facilities 'the people' couldn't afford. Holiday at exclusive destinations 'the people' can only dream about. And they live in places 'the people' can't afford to live. In fact those who purport to represent us, have lives that share nothing in common with us.

Most of the international flights I take cost under 1,500bht (many at 1,000bht). Adding another 300bht to the ticket is a 20-30% rise. Not that it matters any more, easy cheap international travel is gone for good IMHO.- 165 replies

Education inequality – The state school teachers’ dilemma
BritManToo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News Headlines
A cane in the corner of the classroom always kept me successfully 'engaged in the learning process'. I doubt many rural Thai farmers have much education either. In the past, when the school was the only source of education there were no such issues. Treating schools as 'entertainment' venues and expecting parents to 'educate' is the source of the problem and not the answer to the problem IMHO. -
Boris was only elected as Tory leader because he wasn't May. Boris was only elected as PM because he wasn't Jeremy. Same in the USA Donald was elected because he wasn't Hillary. We have the same problems in the UK as all the other western countries. ALL the applicants for leaders are unsuitable sock puppets for God knows who. Until voting forms have the option 'No suitable candidate', democracy has failed.

Education inequality – The state school teachers’ dilemma
BritManToo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News Headlines
Disagree, Technology is generally a distraction from education. All you need to educate children is decent text books for the kids and a blackboard with chalk for the teachers.- 103 replies

Thailand, the most beautiful girls in the world.

I did, but then they got old (lived with one, married with one). I find most women only have their looks for a brief time, you're very lucky if the good looks last 5 years. Especially after they get married or are in a LTR. -
