  1. Not really, But asking the price first is always important for foreigners in SEA.
  2. Always ask the price first!
  3. You can have the Scots back, we don't want them either.
  4. As a pensioner, I'm past travelling. Happy to stay at home.
  5. The UK has never had a war with Russia, they were our allies against most of Europe.
  6. Europe is the traditional enemy of the UK. They currently facilitate the movement of non EU people through their countries to the UK border. They are not our allies, they never have been. In the same way Mexico and Canada facilitate the movement of foreigners through their countries to the border of the USA, in effect enabling the invasion of foreigners into the USA.
  7. My psychic powers predict in 2041 they won't be paying a state pension to citizens living overseas.
  8. Yeah, leeches are nasty, can get anywhere on your body, just from walking past some wet plants or wet ground.
  9. Ask me after I've had the new payment! Every 4 weeks happens randomly, not on the 1st. The first complete new payment will be in the middle of May.
  10. Interesting, When I was attacked in CM, the public prosecutor brought charges against my attacker for causing serious bodily harm. I was just a witness to the crime, nobody ever asked me if I wished to press charges.
  11. I also hate the EU and especially Germany ........ Don't mention the war!
  12. Well my life changed after the first 2 years when I no longer needed a short time every night, and sometimes in the afternoon.
  13. I installed inverter/battery because I got tired of the power going out all the time. The electricity it produces is free as a bonus. I guess if you consider the panels as an extra expense on top of the full house ups, they paid for themselves a year back.
  14. My 580w panels provide 2 units a day each. 2000 units a day would be a medium factory!
  15. 15kwhr lifepo4 battery is 45kbht assembled or 30kbht if you bolt it together yourself. I'm buying 580w split mono bifacial ntype from Lazada at 2kbht each delivered (one just arrived 5 mins back). 18 would cost 36kbht but they're massive, where would you put that many? I think that's too many as 5 fill my 5kwhr battery before 1pm. 10kw off-grid inverter around 20kbht. 580w is the big one on the left Mounting you can buy some stainless steel box for almost nothing, along with a drill, circular cutter and arc welding kit, less than 4kbht for all the bits. Around 105kbht all in and a bit of sweat!
  16. That's odd mine is 869 pounds every 4 weeks 12,000 a year.
  17. Pork joint about 80bht which will last 3-4 meals. Potatoes free from a neighbour (6-10kg) been eating them the past 4 weeks. Tea is around 2bht/day for as much as I can drink (Tata gold 500gm 170bht lasts 4 months) Electricity free, I have solar panels. Walk, have a swim or cycle around, cook your own food from basics, download your books, movies, music, games and you'll spend a fraction of your pension.
  18. Don't know about JT but ...... I went out cycling this morning for an hour (22km). Then came home and played Civilization VI until lunchtime. Watched that new movie starring Milla Jokavich. Cooked roast pork and baked potato with gravy for lunch. Nearly 3pm now, and almost no money spent!
  19. It used to be a good pension, but the AUD has crashed by 20-25% in the past year or 2 (28bht to 22bht). In that same time period the GBP sunk from 50 to 44bht (12%) No idea why the AUD is doing so much worse than the GBP?
  20. UK state pension near enough £1k/month = 44kbht at the moment. I spend about 25kbht on me, and another 35kbht on the wife and kid. Living here would be cheap as chips without any baggage!
  21. Baked beans are vegetables!
  22. I don't know anyone that died or even went to hospital from COVID. But my 25yo daughter was rushed to hospital after a COVID vaccine injection, breathing difficulties and racing heart. The hospital in Chiang Mai said her reaction was not unusual.
  23. Hmmmmm .... I drive one because it avoids the gridlock and the lack of parking spaces in Chiang Mai. But it is important to have a full face helmet and do the strap up.
  24. Lots of older movies rereleased ...... Pretty maids all in a row 1971 Rock Hudson as a high school teacher banging the students The Irishman 1978 Australian truckers but in the day when they used horses Eye of god 1997 murder in Oklahoma And a new movie In the lost lands Milla Jokavich fighting her way through a post Nuke war America.
