  1. Thanks Charlie it's not the paid for ads but normal content.
  2. I think he is talking about the same post being repeated in successive newsletters. It seems to happen daily.
  3. Well you got that wrong, this happened at 10pm. Read the first few posts.
  4. The UK government website has now changed back to 30 days. Obviously everyone has jumped the gun.
  5. Even the UK Government have stated its 60 days from 1st June. It's under Entry requirements. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/thailand?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=govuk-notifications-topic&utm_source=b0bc6336-9881-4728-a90b-0d977d951fb1&utm_content=immediately
  6. It may be a myth but it is reason why some people are refused visa's so soon after returning from a previous visit. My wife now has a 10 year visa so it's not an issue to stay 5 months. But going back a few years she visited for 4 months Sept to Jan. Applied for a new visa to visit from May to September and it was refused on the grounds that she would be spending too much time in the UK in a 12 month period. Re Appied 2 months later and it was granted. Granted this was a few years ago but I very much doubt if a new visa would be granted unless a period has elapsed before the new application.
  7. SPAM post by a new user using a FAKE profile, don't fall for it.
  8. Whilst I respect your knowledge of the UK visa system I think you are misunderstanding the real question in this case. Whilst she can apply any time she will be limited to the dates she can enter the UK. On a Standard UK visit visa no one will be allowed to stay for more than 180 days (6 months) in a rolling 12 month period. So if the OP's MIL stays 15/3/24to 15/8/24 this is 5 months. This means that she can only stay for 1 more month before 15/3/25. I suggest if she wishes to come for 5 months again, the earliest she should apply is to arrive after this date.
  9. They obviously are not consistent. Last October I returned with a new passport and had the stamps transferred. I was able to do the 90 day report when it was due online as usual.
  10. I suppose the Holocaust didn't happen, man did not land on the moon, Kennedy was assassinated by the FBI and Hitler died quietly years after the war in Argentina.
  11. Medical certificate not an issue if it needs to be valid 3 months and you are away for 2 months. Get one in Thailand, very cheap, this will be accepted for the OA.
  12. Simple solution. Stop smoking
  13. A complete non storey. You can't just apply for UK citizenship on a whim, it's a long drawn out 5 year process just to get permanent permission to remain. Getting a UK passport takes longer.
  14. Thanks can I ask what insurance company.
  15. Can I ask who your parents insure with please as my insurance is due next month and it may be worth switching
  16. Thanks Richard just for clarification, we normally spend about 6 months in each. This year my wife stayed behind in Thailand until I have a date for my operation. Yes I have a car in the UK and the plan is to add her as a named driver on my policy for a couple of months.
  17. I am not sure if this is the correct forum to ask. My wife comes to the UK every year for a few months. This year I am having a hip replacement so cannot drive. My wife Haa a full Thai driving licence and I know she can drive in the UK for up to a year. What about insurance. Does anyone have experience of adding a Thai to a UK insurance policy. How much it will cost? Any idea of insurance companies who will do this? Thanks
  18. Not as filthy as expats from Leicester.
  19. Might be a Russian then he is from the east
  20. Basically avoid the checkpoints and use the back streets. The checkpoints are always in the same place. Outside Tony's gym. At the junction with the Pratumnak on the Thrapaya road. At the roundabout near Terminal 21. I don't know of any others
  21. 8 years ago like an idiot I drove after a few beers towards the checkpoint outside Tony's gym in Pattaya. I was stopped keys to my car taken. I was taken into a small office with my wife at the checkpoint, he took my licence and he left it on top of a cabinet. Whilst he was out my wife took the licence and hid it. On his return we insisted he had my licence already and he said he would find it later. Anyway we got taken to Pattaya police station and sat down in the waiting area. After a while a policeman came out of the negotiating room and asked for 30,000 and no overnight prison or court. My wife negotiated it down to 20k. We did not have the money or ATM card on us so we agreed to meet him in Jomtien the next day. He took my wife's ID card as security. He then took us outside, called the checkpoint to expect us and got us a motorbike taxi. On arrival back at the checkpoint I was given my car keys back and allowed to drive home. Next day we met the policeman and gave him 20,000 and that was the end of it.
  22. You are obviously doing something wrong. Alternatively they are worried you won't show up.
  23. Don't you just love it when an OP asks a question and then doesn't check back for replies. Can't be that urgent.
  24. Unless you have travelled in Thailand and a TM30 registered in your name in a hotel or something a new TM30 is not required in Jomtien. My TM30 is from 2018 and I leave for 4 months every year and re enter Thailand with a Retirement extension and a reentry permit to the same address. Never had to file a new TM30, yes at Jomtien immigration.
  25. First 90 day report after what. Have you ever used the online system before? If you have ignore those that tell you the first one has to be done in person. I am on a Retirement extension and every year I visit the UK for 4 months and return to Thailand to the same address with a re entry permit. First online 90 day works no problem. This year I entered on a new passport. I had the stamps transferred to my new passport, again my first 90 online worked perfectly.
