  1. Are you on the whisky mate. I quoted another poster. I dont know why you are replying to me giving your 10 pence worth. As for being a troll you along with 2 or 3 others are the worse on Asean Now with your continual banal topics.
  2. So basically you are a cheap charlie who scams the girls into expecting payment and do a runner. All the girls in Thailand expect payment not just the working girls.
  3. You are in the wrong country if you just want a normal relationship. It will be near nai impossible to find a girl who does not want paying. Every girl unless she comes from a rich family will want you to take care of her financially. This is not just bar girls. The girls who are here are in the main from a village somewhere and work here to support their family. Good luck with finding someone where money is not involved.
  4. A few years ago I arranged to meet a friend of mine in John's bar. He was nowhere to be seen. I went to the bar and asked the bar service girl if anyone had seen my friend Michael Hunt. She said she hadn't but would ask the customers. She shouted out " Has anyone seen Mike Hunt. Apparently many people put their hand up.
  5. If you love cycling the Silverlake area with wide empty new roads is perfect for you. Only problem would be finding cheap accomodation.
  6. I have not got a clue what you are talking about I am not the OP just trying to help him. In any case to apply for a 60 day e visa is done in ones own country and ran by the dept in that country. Never seen a drop down mentioning what you quoted.
  7. Its probably still there but has been processed and has a different status. Dont forget to check yout SPAM email folder. The evisa sometimes ends up in there.
  8. Agreed its cheaper but like myself, he was probably upgraded to Atorvastatin. I have to take 80mg daily a large dose which gets very expensive in Thailand. Luckily I go back to the UK every year for 4 months and I bring back a stock with me. I also order my medication monthly in the UK whilst I am here and have it delivred to my next door neighbour.
  9. I am married to a Thai lady but I prefer to be on an extension of stay based on Retirement. It matters not if you are married as long as you are over 50 and satisfy the requirements. Retiremement in my opinion is less hassle.
  10. AXA and LUMA have very affordable travel coverage I suggest you check them out. Well under the $1600 you were quoted.
  11. Same same but different as I have heard many times over here.
  12. Agree with you. However I assume by this comment by the poster that his friend is permanently resident in Thailand and not in a situation similar to you. His frivolous comment was just an attempt to disrupt the thread.
  13. Then he must be paying lots of fines then. Nothing to be proud of. Its an easy 5 minute process online.
  14. Well earlier this year in March a Chinese guy bought a white lion cub and allowed it to roam around his garden on my gated community. This was widely reported in the media including the Pattaya News and Asean Now. We went back to thr UK in May and when we returned it was gone. Maybe the same one. https://thepattayanews.com/2023/03/02/chinese-neighbor-alarms-pattaya-residents-with-his-pet-white-lion/
  15. If he has over 800k in a Thai bank then why is he bothering with the income method. As long as the money has been in there 3 months I think then all he needs to show is a bank letter confirming this and tell immigration he wants to change to money in the bank method.
  16. You are showing a complete ignorance of how it works in Thailand. Granted banks are making it harder for foreigners to open accounts but on the other hand a foreigner needs a Thai bank account to show the funds for an extension of stay. Thai authorities only play with the rules around taxation etc etc. They always turn a blind eye if there is money to be made. I have lost count of the number of foreign owned businesses in Pattaya that are only fronts for money laundering. I drive past a pizza/ kebab restaurant every day and a European buffet place. Never have I seen any customers in any of them and this is at various times of the day and evening. They get away with it because like every thing else in Thailand someone has been paid off. Normal rules do not apply here despite your well meaning rationale.
  17. Not really off topic I mentioned UK credit cards because I dont keep my money in Thai banks. Hence why I use an agent. So it is connected. But you are right Wise is not a credit card and therefore not comparable to the Halifax Clarity or Barclaycard Reward card.
  18. Trying to bump this one up because Jomtien Immigration is a well duscussed topic. I am surprised no one wishes to comment. Especially those who have posted incorrect information about Jomtien recently.
  19. Big Joke tried and failed thats why he was sidelined thats why it goes all the way to the top. In the main I am talking about the individual offices. It is not a low level officer signing the extensions it is the senior officer. Granted yes it is corruption and yes they make a lot of money off of it. Corruption is an acceptable way of life over here, you should know that. From planning permission, to road building, everyone is at it.
  20. For me its not wanting to keep any more than I need to spend or pay bills in my Thai accounts. I prefer to use the UK as my banking base. There is not a chance in hell that they will stop agent arranged extensions. They are agreed from the very top of the immigration tree. My extension is signed by the same senior officer who signs all the extensions. My agent obtained extension is perfectly legal and has no special code alongside the stamp to indicate otherwise.
  21. As another poster pointed out therr are many. Personally I have The Halifax Clarity Card and the Barclaycard Reward Card. Both give an excellent exchange rate following the Mastercard or Visa rate. Free ATM withdrawals, plus many other benefits. I use one all the time and the other as a standby. Pay the bill once a month from my UK bank account. Before you say it, there is no chance of account closure. I have a UK home and stay there 4 months a year. I keep as little money in Thailand as possible. Anyone who keeps 800k locked in a Thai bank account either have no choice or are misguided.
  22. I understand. I was going to say come to Pattaya for a few days to get it done, but thats as bad as an agent where you live doing an out of area extension.
  23. Yes I can my agent does it all for me. I have to visit the bank but not immigtion. I wont name my agent on open forum but if you PM me apologise for your previous dig at me I will. In any case no good for you he is in Pattaya.
  24. That must be an up country thing. There are many in Pattaya that only deal with the local Jomtien office. 12.5 k all in and you do not have to go anywhere near the immigration office.
