    A. Most people with just a scooter don’t buy trolley loads of stuff, just 2 or 3 bags full.

    B. If they can carry their usual 3 bags on a bike I am sure they can carry a couple of reusable bags instead.

    C. On the first day ( Jan 1 ) most will be too drunk to go shopping anyway

Obvious you never shop at big tesco much or big C, There are always tons of thais with 6-10+ bags in a trolley that they put on their scooter and then slowly ride home with....There are always at least 10-20 trolleys at a time in the scooter parking area that thai's leave for the collector to get but obviously your a car driver here!!

let's not forget all the plastic bottles people use I go through 6x 600ml nestle bottles of water a day...pretty much single use plastic but I doubt they be banning them anytime soon!!

My rental contract automatically went month to month after the first year.  The only action required on my part was 30 days notice when I did decide to move out.  All clearly spelled out in the lease document.

    What's in yours?

you can break any 1 year rental agreement with 30 days notice as long as you have a valid reason.

That unofficial 180 days rule, is it per calendar year or the last 12 months?

(In first case, we would hear stories of people getting questioned for long time stay on TV or VE only after June each year; I did not follow Thaivisa closely enough to judge for myself if that is the case.)

If the IO does not like the look of you or having a bad day they can make up any rule to deny you. There are reports of people being denied after only being here 90 days in a year not even close to the 180, if you are worried about being denied then fly into chiang mai or enter by one of the friendly land borders instead!

If that is the case there is no point negotiating 3 or 12 months. I will lose the deposit either way lol

Lived in phuket a few years now, first apartment no need even for a deposit and I stayed for a year, had a wonderful thai lady landlord...Current place stayed for 3 months in low season 5,000 thb deposit rent was 11k( meant to be for a year but i got it for 3 months). I extended my current rental for the next year and the landlord was still happy with the 5k deposit(it's a fairly new apartment complex too). Facebook marketplace, message the owners and barter, there are TONS of empty places here right now so you have all the bargaining power!!

  5. pffft no one cares the whole thing is a sham anyone called by democrats would support impeachment we all know they are corrupt as hell....SO easy to tell just reverse the situation!

Donald trump JR was working for the ukraine company, Donald trump used his powers to get the Lawyer fired and say Obama was still president and withheld the aid and demanded an investigation! Consider this situation with the same facts involved and 99.99%% of the democrats would suddenly change their minds and say what obama did was fine and that if trump did nothing wrong he would have nothing to worry about!!

Just another sham investigation to circumvent democracy at any rate!!

Since he was interested in the money initially he should have pursued his case in Thailand where defamation is a criminal offense and distributing over the internet carries a prison term. Musk may well not have shown up but Unsworth may have had a victory in absentia.

because even if they found musk guilty in thailand, No western court would recognize it nor would they enforce any judgement based on a "defamation" ruling in thailand!!

As long as musk never stepped foot in thailand there would then be no way to enforce any judgement that was given in a thai court!

You sound extremely broke, Thailand isn't targetting this group anymore.

Hahaha no I am actually fairly wealthy BUT why would I want to spend $5k a year on a visa especially when quality of life with the THB dropping has also gone down. Yes other countries have investment visas but they are just that YOU INVEST and the money is still yours, You are not spending 20k in those countries just to get a visa which has $0 monetary value!!

The op asked why people are choosing ed visa's over elite visa's and I clearly told him. Obviously you bought an elite visa but you are in the very small minority as the majority are clearly choosing nearby countries instead. Yes some people are poor but the majority are quite wealthy and see no point in pointlessly wasting $5k a year on a visa when you clearly get much more bang for your buck overseas for the high cost of overseas visas according to you of.....wait for it (Free to $100usd a year) depending on the country!!

  8. I have always found the elite visa funny, like no you come too many times we deny you now or you pay ($20,000 AUD) and then magically it's ok now you can come for next 5 years no problem!!

If the elite visa was 100k thb for 1 year, people might consider it but seeing you have to pay 5-20 years upfront it is not a good option for many and this is why many will still go the ed visa route. The only person the elite visa is for is someone who has family here and HAS to stay here....everyone else is finishing up their current visas and then moving to nearby countries where you get more bang for your buck....

Imagine buying the elite visa now and then in 2-3 years 1 USD is only worth 15thb or 1 AUD is worth 10thb.....it's not looking good and if you just bought a 5-20 year visa...This is the main reason why a 1 year visa will always be the much much safer and better option!

Both Tesco and Big C. have signed the agreement committing to 'no single use plastic' from Jan 1.

this is going to be great....Seeing all the thai's try to juggle their items and ride their motorbikes home.....Roads will be less safe, More accidents, more deaths...but hey at least we are reducing plastic consumption right....i mean EVERYTHING else still comes in plastic or is wrapped in plastic but at least no more plastic bags....555555

  10. Yes I have tried everything with these chicken breasts, marinading them for an hour, marinading overnight, cooking in frypan with and without lid, cooking in the oven covered and uncovered...No matter what I do the meat tastes chewy. I am pretty much sure it is the chicken breasts themselves so will definitely try topps and makro instead!

  11. thanks for all the information guys and Yes I think the problem is definitely the chicken and not how i am cooking it. I decided to oven cook 2 pieces yesterday they came out perfectly cooked (For the west) still lots of juices inside but still chewy and not very nice to eat...I am going to stop buying the ones from central and try makro instead or just buy a whole cooked chicken as they taste great, you would think for the extra price of chicken breasts at central they would not have this problem!

  12. I have travelled all over the world and never had any trouble cooking chicken breast till I came here and even then it was fine till about 6 months ago. I buy my chicken from central festival shopping center and for the life of me no matter How I cook it, in the frying pan, oven it always comes out hard and chewy. I have bought both the s-pure and the normal chicken and have problems with both....Anyone having the same problem and any solutions??

My Elite visa in Thailand cost me 100,000 baht.

My one year, multi-entry business visa with work permit in Laos cost me 18,000 baht....

I'm not talking about Laos I am talking about vietnam and Phillipines. Vietnam a 1 year multi entry Business visa is around 12,000 THB, Quality of life in vietnam easily trumps thailand. See tons of friends and their friends moving from thailand to vietnam but no one moving from vietnam to thailand lol.

The point is, do you want to be in, and living in those neighbouring countries.

Of course, why not. Many people have already made the move and many more of us are going to go once our visas finish and for 1 months cost of an elite visa you get an entire year! Truth is you get far better buying power in nearby countries as well as a much higher quality of life these days compared with thailand!
