  1. Being met at the airport by a mob of uniformed police is the start of my fantasy vacation.
  2. Visited a friend back in the US. He had what we call a "McMansion". Over spec-ed, overbuilt, semi-gaudy, gigantic house sitting on 20 acres of property. Across the paved street were a dozen more identical McMansions, albeit on smaller, perfectly manicured, lots. We were sitting on his porch, looking over the houses, and discussing how literally everything he might want to do was a drive of at least 30 minutes. Nothing within walking distance. He then commented, "Isn't this incredible?" I gave him the answer he wanted to hear, "Yeah, it really is." -- Boring AF all. I could not leave soon enough. But. The truth is. He was genuinely very happy.
  3. #11 really hurts, because it does not even require a conviction: "involved ... directly or indirectly ... financial crime". That suggests one just needs to be involved with a crime, which is sounds like it describes the OP's situation exactly. Bummer.
  4. The "supporting" documents are pretty much indentical. The thing to note is that the documents you get from the bank need to be done on the same day. So you need to get those again on the day of your appointment.
  5. Now I am confused. ^_^ The OP was posting for a friend in "Pak Chong" wanting to "border bounce to Cambodia". It was @Yagoda that had the "Cambodian long term visa". Correct?
  6. And this is what happens when you start to hand out free money. The queue of outstretched hands becomes infinitely long.
  7. After 7 days, they can fine you up to 5.000 baht. It is almost universally 2,000 baht, unless you pay the "not polite enough" tax.
  8. Based on the English writing of my first wife, I could easily tell she was from B1tchranistan.
  9. He does not have a lot to offer, compared to other players, but the push to exit China is a solid tailwind. Best make hay while the sun shines.
  10. He was out of the country, then decided to come back in?! He needs to go to jail for being stupid.
  11. And, as in my case, owners of the company also do not pay or qualify.
  12. And, after this stimulation, the economy will still be in a shambles, but with raging inflation. Good times!
  13. In a three story townhouse with a drain pipe from the third floor to the ground floor that had no access, the maintenance guy had a "snake" that was able to run down the drain pipe and clean it out completely. It was excellent.
  14. I believe the word "masterminds" in this context is only "relative" to those doing the arresting...
  15. Absolutely my experience. Thais in Isaan, for the most part, speak Thai just fine. They will often slip into the local dialect with friends and family, but they will speak Thai with you just fine. And could make for a fun time learning, as you will be exposed to both, as well as the wonders of Isaan (donning flame retardant undies...)
  16. No expert on the Kroner, but it looks like the same problem seen in other currencies - central banks and monetary policy. https://corporate.nordea.com/article/80791/nok-update-nok-will-remain-weak-for-now
  17. Please, do not. One thing I have learned in all those years of Wall Street is to listen. Because the best ideas come from the most unlikely places - and people. While many "quants" these days are PhD level mathematicians, there is so much about investing and speculating that cannot be summed up with math.
