  1. The nursing side of palliative care in Thailand is as good as, and often better than, can be found in most western countries. Further, the restriction of some medicines for domestic use also applies in many western countries.
  2. There was never a need to transfer sovereignty of the Chagos islands to Mauritius which is over a thousand miles distant. Why on earth the Tories started this is a mystery, now compounded by Labour apparently also in support of the transfer. Also, the cost of the terms is enormous at a time when the UK is bankrupt and heavily in debt.
  3. Palliative care readily available in most parts of Thailand. ,but not for free.
  4. I wonder why the suspects drove into a car park in Pattaya to dump him. Usually victims of this kind of violence are left to lie wherever they fall.
  5. Somebody close to De Niro urgently needs to tell him to stop making a fool of himself.
  6. She has helped a violent illegal immigrant. Not a great look for someone in her position.
  7. Any country would be rightly concerned to find foreign beggars on it's streets. It's objectives should be to improve the lives of those of it's own citizens who are impoverished.
  8. It was an interesting post in my opinion.
  9. Patpong was a blast in the 70s and 80s. Then came the night market which stifled the party atmosphere on Patpong 1. It has never been the same since, in my opinion.
  10. The whole world is laughing at Americans ? I don't think so.
  11. Living and working in the Middle East for some years I was struck by the unpopularity of the Palestinians with their neighbours and near neighbours. The consensus seemed to be that a Palestinian presence in their countries would lead to trouble. This attitude manifests itself in the lack of meaningful support given to the Palestinians from other middle eastern countries.
  12. AI used to stand for an activity to do with intimate relationships.
  13. Entirely correct. Begging etc should be an activity reserved for Thais.
  14. The UK police force, as it used to be called, has deteriorated into a police 'service' which appears unable to prevent or solve crimes. It now, sadly for all Brits, focuses on trawling social media in order to identify comments critical of the Labour government, and to punish those who post such comments.
  15. The Canadian allowed himself to be guided by streewalkers/freelancers to a makeshift bar in the wee small hours. In so doing he failed to follow his own advice on the need to exercise caution at all times.
  16. Over the years I have known many foreigners who are happily married to former Thai bar girls, and others for whom things have not worked out so well. My advice, for what it is worth, is to take plenty of time to really get to know the intended partner. In other words, much the same advice as would apply to any relationship, anywhere.
  17. Been attempted before, several times. Almost impossible to convey the atmosphere and complexities of an involvement in Thailand's nightlife in a book. Movies do rather better.
  18. I had similar damage to a BMW 635 CSi many years ago. As with most dealers the local BMW agent did not undertake body repairs but offered to take the car to an outside contractor. I declined and went to a local (Ratchayothin, Bangkok) repair specialist known to my wife. He did an excellent job, and was happy to have me monitoring progress as the work went on.
  19. Regrettably there are still people all over the world who support Hitler and they know the full story, unlike most Thais.
  20. I suspect Dr. Taweesilp will regret allowing himself to be pushed into becoming involved.
  21. A very sad case. I hope the monitor lizard is ok. Not it's fault.
  22. Smoked only one joint in my 83 year old life, in the UK. Pleasant, but not enough to make me want more.
