  1. There must surely be more to this story. I'm afraid renters can be subject to this kind of situation in any country, not only in Thailand.
  2. ...well known already. Your point is. ?
  3. At 83 years old the insurance companies are no longer interested in me or my premium payments. Not a problem for me as I have already agreed with my Thai wife, my partner for over 40 years, that when my time comes, either through illness or old age, I will not bie taken anywhere near a hospital. I will stay at home living as comfortably as possible until I expire. Younger people may take a different view. I would only advise you to think long and hard before committing money to an insurance policy which you may never need.
  4. Yes indeed. The cruel t reatmentvif elephants in Buddhist Thailand is a sad and shameful disgrace. Thi is just one more example.
  5. Nothing of any relevance or interest.
  6. The last English king of England was Harold. The rest were, inter-alia, French, Scottish, Welsh, Dutch and German.
  7. In case you didn't now Trump was voted in as a result of the US election.
  8. Correct. Your point is...?
  9. Amazing that somebody finds this funny.
  10. No objection to monarchies in general so long as they act in the best interests of their country. The Windsors, so called, while not holding direct power, have failed on many occasions to use their enormous influence to benefit Britain. A classic example was their support for Britain's unnecessary involvement in WW1 which resulted in tragic losses for countless British families including my own.
  11. Harold was indeed the last English monarch. Sad.
  12. The Phuket Times writes that 'the couple were caught in the standard sexual position'. Surely whether or not it was standard is a matter of opinion and/or personal preference.
  13. Trump won not only the Presidency, but also the popular vote, and control of both the Senate and the House. The size of the mandate that this gives him is unquantifiable. It will depend entirely on the support he gets from both main parties during his tenure. Impossible to say at this stage how much that may be.
  14. Hardly the point, but never mind...
  15. Yes indeed. It's a shame that manifesto promises cannot be made legally binding...
  16. The lockdowns were a societal disaster the effects of which will haunt us for years to come.
  17. It wouldn't be cannabis alone that brought about this reaction. Some other additive or drug involved. It has become habitual for those affected to blame cannabis for their condition because it is semi-legal. The reality is usually that a banned substance is the cause, but the victim does not want to admit to breaking the law.
  18. First marriage to a Brit for 23 years was a disaster. Second marriage to a Thai for 34 years is a joy. It seems to me the pleasures/hazards of marriage are much the same the world over.
  19. Nonsense. The UK can easily choose not to obey ICC rulings. On the second point I would add Cameron for the disgusting murder of Gadhafi and the destruction of Libya.
  20. Amazing decision by Starmer to support this resolution. On 7 October 2023 Palestinians murdered over 1,700 Israeli civilians, including the rape and beheading of women, children and infants. How much lower can the UK go ?
  21. Reported just now that number of signatures approaching 2 million.
  22. White House in retreat ? Not so after allowing the bombing of Russia, and the further relaxation of border controls.
