Poll: Expats -- do you identify as a globalist?
Thingamabob replied to Jingthing's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Lived and worked in many countries, finally retiring to Thailand nearly 30 years ago. Now old I've no intention of going anywhere. No idea if this makes me a globalist or not. -
So - how do you see climate change effects Thailand?
Thingamabob replied to Thunglom's topic in General Topics
It didn't. This is nonsense. -
Keep your TM6 safe, and as an added precaution keep a copy as well. If you are not Thai you will need the TM6 to accompany a number of applications/reports.

House purchase
Thingamabob replied to Boyn's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
I agree. -
Most countries have nightlife entertainment in one form or another, some highly discreet, some less so. I would guess that about 25% plus of visitors enjoy at least a meal out and a drink or two in the evening, while maybe about 10% plus proceed thereafter to sample more exotic activities.

Thailand steps up efforts to attract more expats
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is just lip service to the idea that those governing Thailand want to attract more foreigners, rich or not so rich. They don't. They do not want outsiders seeing what goes on here. It goes back to events following the end of WW2. -
Extension retirement at CW report.
Thingamabob replied to DrJack54's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I've lived and worked on 4 continents. To this day, for me, Thailand is by far and away the best place to be. Minimal hassle and friendly people. Never used an agent for extensions and have always found the process simple and straightforward. Anyway, I wish you well, and hope things turn out well for you. -
PM calls for country transformation after reopening
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Over the years snotty elite Thai killjoys have tried to change the character of Thai nightlife/entertainment. They have always failed, and I suspect they will fail again even with the dictatorial powers that they have adopted as a result of covid. -
A reminder why Thailand is such a great place to live
Thingamabob replied to PizzaBoi's topic in General Topics
Went back to the UK 5 years ago intending to stay for a month. Left after 2 weeks. So sad to see what the UK has become. I prefer to remember it as it once was.
