  1. They do in some countries. Many years ago I remember extracts from cock fights being shown occasionally on Thai TV.
  2. If you live within easy reach of an immigration office just go in person. My last 3 visits to CW for 90 day reporting saw me in at 0830 hrs and out at 0930 hrs, and thereafter getting on with my day. Unlike many on here my time is not so important as to not be able to take an hour every 3 months to do this. Less easy, I appreciate, if you live a long way away.
  3. I never understand why so few, if any, Brits have never taken to using bidets or the simple bum gun. Far cleaner, far more convenient.
  4. Pistachio's posting illustrates a worrying degree of naivete. He certainly will not be able to work legally as his wife's shop assistant. I wonder how he will survive in Thailand unless he can find another way to earn some money. I doubt living off his wife's income from a small corner shop will enable him to acquire even his most basic everyday needs.
  5. I wonder he ever really spent much, if any, time inside....
  6. ..and bullfighting...indeed any 'sport' which involves the torture and killing of animals. Muay Thai, however, is but one of many forms of pugilism which go way back in history where humans fight humans, including Queensberry Rules boxing. Such contests appeal to some, not at all to others, as with many sports.
  7. I know Denmark well. I am told by Danish friends that the Danish government over generations have retained control over several important institutions in Greenland, including the judiciary, without significantly improving the living standards and general well-being of the majority of the 50k plus population. In other words, and to quote your goodself, treating Greenland as a backwater
  8. Most relationships in Asia are based on practicality, less so on the romantic Western concept of love.
  9. During my time in Taiwan we also had quite a few serious tremors and a couple of 'quakes, one of which shook our house in Shilhin for several minutes and demolished the plaster on most of the ceilings and walls but, fortunately, did not affect the main structure. Very sorry for all those suffering as a result of the Myanmar/Thailand catastrophe.
  10. While the Danes run their country well, high taxes but efficient government services in return, they have not done such a good job in Greenland where they still control, inter alia, defence and the judiciary. I am told that many Greenlanders are not as opposed to a closer US involvement as some media reports indicate.
  11. I totally disagree. We have no right as foreigners to tell Thais trying to earn a living what items they should or should not sell in their shops.
  12. Foreigners have no right whatsoever to be telling locals what they can or cannot sell. Extreme arrogance.
  13. Man or woman, entirely up to them to choose whatever they want to sell.
  14. Good healthcare, good climate, good food, friendly people. Cost of living. however, not as low as it once was. Purchase price of vehicles outrageously high, and house/land prices on the rise unless well off the beaten track.
  15. The trend has nothing to do with the so-called 'Far Right'. These are simply patriots who are concerned for their countries' future.
  16. The muslim takeover fully underway. Message to Western people, take action. If you do not your children and grandchildren will be living under islamic governments and subject to sharia law.
  17. Message to the RTP, pathetic. Find something useful to do.
  18. I don't believe anything the deputy PM says. He's far from being a straight operator.
  19. He has every right to sell whatever items he chooses. Just tell these high- handed foreigners to get lost.
