  1. Prayut controls nothing. He is where he is to make money for his backers for which he is well rewarded. He will be moved on as and when they choose. Pandemic policy is not of his making.
  2. We have 12 dogs and 6 cats at our place in Baan Phe, Rayong and have maintained roughly those numbers over many years. Local vet is excellent and not expensive.
  3. Been mugged twice in my long life, once in Manila and once south London, UK.
  4. I agree. I feel these protests are not going to stop. Also, it would be a mistake to suggest they are only about the handling of the pandemic. Far deeper national issues than that are involved...
  5. .....and enables the Chinese leadership to produce favourable statistics on every aspect of life there.
  6. I say you are entirely wrong. The reverse would apply.
  7. Me too. If this had been a term account would the bank issue an ATM card to access it ?
  8. Nonsense. The reports in Thai are not surprising. They reflect the common knowledge against whom and what the protests are aimed at.

  10. Agreed. I just hope it was really taken to safety. I have been appalled at the cruel way snakes are treated here. So different to parts of India, for example, where many pythons are household pets.
  11. It's sad that you want your country to lose. Cheer up, and try to look on the bright side. I'm sure your country is no worse than most.
  12. 80 years old, living happily in Thailand for 40 years, and married to a lovely Thai lady for nearly all of that time. The big test for me will be, God forbid, if she should die before me. For now, all's good.
  13. Freddie Mercury Marylin Monroe JFK and many more.....
  14. If you are able to do so I strongly suggest that you, simply, deposit Baht 800k in a Thai bank, and just leave it there only updating once a year before applying for your annual extension.
  15. I contacted several hospitals in Bangkok at which I am registered, and this eventually resulted in a confidential invitation for a vaccine at one of them. I am elderly, and it was a rather tiring, time-consuming and tedious exercise. Nothing very clever on my part, just perseverance.
  16. I've not had any difficulty getting the Astra Zeneca vaccine in Thailand, but maybe I've not understood what her problem is.
  17. They remain in the Commonwealth. I worked in West Africa in the 60's in Nigeria and Ghana. I can assure you that most local people wanted to maintain a close relationship with the UK. They were worried about the re-emergence of tribal wars with the Brits gone. Sadly, their worries were well founded.
