  1. Guys, We have three houses in a compound, all with individual electric meters. The main house, which is ours, obviously has a lot higher bill than the one we rent out, and one where mother stays. Now, my last bill which arrived on January 24th was 2600 baht. We have air in the bedroom, but it is seldom used, because of my condition, and certainly wasn't in the cold snap we have had in Kalasin. The rest of the house is fan cooled only. We were not here, as we travelled to the UK from January 20th until February 6th. The house was locked up. I paid the above bill of 2600 baht immediately on my return. Obviously, I was expecting a low bill this month, similar to above, as it actually only covers the period when the house was occupied again, February 6th until February 22nd, (16 days) when the meter was read yesterday. The bill has arrived at 4500 baht plus, basically covering 16 days. I went to the PEA and the guy they sent out said his job was only to read the meter. I pointed out all of the above. He just shrugged as in' not my department' style. My other half actually stated the meter was still going around when we cut the power to the house, (I returned to the house from outside at the back end of the conversation and didn't see this). This means either a defective meter, surely, or somebody is tapping in to our meter? There must be something amiss here.
  2. Not according to @Bangkok Barry he says its a new story with a different hotel? Sat on the fence me!🤣
  3. Really? If true, it about sums up what we are dealing with here.
  4. As above not required, we got one recently for 10 years for the UK.
  5. Call me old-fashioned, but I would sooner sit in a restaurant, have surf and turf, a bottle of wine and my own company, followed by Netflix, plus I wouldn't have the repair bill for that condo.
  6. After reading the full story and watching the video, I tend to agree with your view on this event. You can see, initially, the LB wearing a blonde wig with an oversized kitchen knife appears to be the aggressor in the incident in the car park. There were three white males and sometimes four in the video. I just cannot see a lone British guy offering them 4,000 baht each to attend a party when they already had numerous guests there. More like sour grapes by the LBs that' their' expectations hadn't been met. Whatever, it seemed very nice accommodation they had rented, and I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of paying for the damage done and cleaning up as well as replacing ornaments.
  7. He sounds like a five-star dick if he attempted to bring his own booze and not pay any corkage in the restaurant. Some places charge you corkage for the total value of the bottle, not just a 200 baht opening charge. He must have posted under his own name for all to see, for them to trace him. So, not only was he being malicious in his reviews (posting multiple under different names) he was also challenging them to take him on. I, as a former hotelier, have posted a few negative reviews on trip advisor, but not nasty or untrue ones. I usually give the benefit of the doubt if it's borderline. People shouldn't trash other peoples businesses just for vindictiveness, which is what we seem to be seeing in this instance.
  8. The man in chains isn't worth 3 billion baht though, is he?
  9. Police can keep them on remand for 84 days, after which point he must face a court or be released. Seems a bit off that the appointed lawyer couldn't manage to get a statement for the court in the preceding three months, though.
  10. Most Thais haven't a clue about who they are praying to, for, where the Buddha comes from. Neither are they interested in it as a philosophy. Very few understand the meanings of Buddhism, and they have bastardized it to mean what they want it to mean............... A bit like Christianity and Islam....🤣
  11. Mmmm, Well, there are plenty of Mary Magdalens down there to condemn.
  12. For the record, I didn't go off-topic, I answered a poster that did if you care and take time to read above it.
  13. Move on? Not a chance. Next they'll be screaming to get his sister, Yingluck back here, which has probably been underway for some time, after which, he'll be meddling in politics again after making a stunning recovery from his' prison ordeal '.....🤣 I wonder how many more airheads, Thaksin has in his family ,to hide behind and throw up as puppet prime ministers?
  14. Come off it. Trump sat on his a$$ smirking about it all and quietly encouraging it. He only threw in ' go home peacefully ' when he was advised he could face insurrection charges at a later date, and was harassed by his advisers to make that statement. In a country the size of the USA, third largest in the World, with a population of 340 million, you are supposed to be a superpower and BIDEN and TRUMP is the best you can offer up to the World and the American people?
  15. Agreed, And it was done to teach them they can't enter Australia illegally and expect a free ride. It also sends a message to the traffickers that Australia won't tolerate it. This is something the UK is trying to implement with the Rwanda plan, but the do-gooders, (who mainly all live in leafy suburbs, not in towns and cities affected by rioting, violence, child rapes) from the UK and the European Court of human rights are obstructing the UK government at every opportunity. What about the rights of the indigenous population of a country to live in peace and harmony? Don't they have any rights?

  17. Justify your comments, and which area of facts I am ignorant to. I'm waiting. Furthermore, the part of my post you quoted regarding not having the luxury of having overseas territories to send migrants to, we don't. Hence, the Rwanda option, which will never happen due to too many ' woke ' and liberal people. The second part you outlined about my reference to European interference, well it is coming in the form of the constant appeals to the European court of human rights. OR Were you referring to where Australia sends its migrants? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_immigration_detention_facilities https://www.lawgazette.co.uk/law/strasbourgs-rwanda-ruling-divides-public-law-specialists/5112795.article
  18. +1 And this is exactly what has happened in the UK. Criminals were entering the UK through the EU open borders policy, committing various serious crimes and disappearing back to their countries of origin. Many out of reach of the British authorities, or it's costing a fortune to pursue them. Furthermore, they have uncovered, (after ignoring for years under Keir Starmer), the current leader of the Labour Party a dark culture of Pakistani grooming gangs, mainly taxi drivers, raping vulnerable young white girls between the ages of 11–15 years old. Successive governments KNEW this was going on. This is not one or two cases, there are hundreds and hundreds of these cases. It was swept under the carpet because it didn't fit the narrative that multiculturalism was working. They are finally being jailed. So called multiculturalism doesn't work in Europe and the UK, hence what we are seeing now. These migrants know Europe doesn't have the resources to detain and hold them, let alone prosecute them. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/quilliam-grooming-gangs-report-asian-abuse-rotherham-rochdale-newcastle-a8101941.html https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-65174096
  19. You think so? Well, is that why you are now housing migrants in offshore immigration centres off Australia in the Manus islands, Christmas Island, Papua New Guinea and Nauru and not permitting them to land? The UK doesn't have the luxury of being able to do this on our doorstep, coupled with constant interference by the European Courts, which we are supposed to have escaped from. Also, it's a lot further for migrants to travel by boat to Australia than a quick hop across hiding in trucks through the tunnel or illegal dinghies, through the English Channel. I've spoken to plenty of Australians who are deeply unhappy with Multiculturalism and its spin-offs in Australia, and the perceived privileges people receive. It certainly is not working in the UK as the vast majority are arriving via criminal gangs and networks and once there have no intention whatsoever in adapting or blending or mixing into the British way of life and want to get the benefits of cash and housing but bring their definition of' culture' with them. The UK has, like all other countries including Australia and Thailand, a right way with the correct visas and criteria and a wrong way, which most migrants tend to be following.
