Report Thai submarine plans sink as Germany halts engine sale
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What they agreed was the installation of a Chinese electrical generator and label it an "engine." No Chinese submarine has such a generator that substitutes as an engine. But PM Prayut paid a very high nonrefundable deposit and annual payments that obligate Thailand to purchase 3 of such submarines. PS: While Prayut was PM he was also Minister of Defence -

Bank pays me interest but also deducts for income tax on interest so there's no push to do FACTA paperwork, especially since I am exempt from Thai income tax. -

Report UK-Thai Relations Celebrated in Southern Thailand Roadshow
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Southern Thailand News
Ironically, it was with then super power UK permission that Thailand forceably annexed the sovereign Islamic Kingdom of Patani to become part of Thailand. So I doubt the Malay Muslims of Patani territory experienced cheer with this roadshow, especially since part of the former Kingdom of Patani is still under a State of Emergency that deprived portions of Patani citizens of any constitutional rights. -
Economy Thai Citizens Demand Government Action as Inflation Skyrockets
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good reason to plead as the inflation rate in Thailand decreased to 1.08% in February 2025, falling 0.22% year-on-year in April 2025 with Thailand GDP projected to grow by up to 2% in 2025. Economic indicators that Western countries, especially the USA would envy. -
Several times over the past year or two Myanmar jets have flown into Thai airspace as they conducted combat actions against Myanmar rebels near the Thai border. In response Thai air force has belatedly responded after Thai border incursions. Finally, the Thai air force has begun monitoring flight vectors of Myanmar fighters into Thailand to proactively (and responsibly) intercept intended Mynanar incursion into Thai airspace. Thailand answer with two F-16s is the best response.

Report Rise in Violence in Thailand's Deep South Triggers Urgent Peace Calls
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
How about the Buddhist Kingdom of Thailand remove itself and its Buddhist citizens from the once sovereign Islamic nation of The Kingdom of Patani that had been annexed by Thailand in breach of Thailand's Peace Ageeement with Patani and allow restoration of Malay Muslims to their full religious practices, traditions, language, and heritage? Such a path had been begun by PM Yingluck in 2013 to discuss semi-autonomy for the region. The Thai military overthrow of the Yingluck government in 2014 instead imposed to now a State of Emergency to deprive the Malays of any constitutional rights under Thai law.- 1 reply

Report Thai Rice Exports Plummet, Threatening Global Position
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand needs to hustle and expand its rice market: South America, Africa aside from South America, Russia? Long a problem with Thailand rice production has been cost of production. The Thai governments over a decade has subsidized rice production costs but never instituted permanent production efficiencies, ie., automation, more equipment handling. -
