  1. Of course they can read Thai, they are Thai staff working at a Thai airport. And yes, as I said, they do sometimes accept a Pink ID, however, often their official policy is an ID in the same language as the booking, and all bookings are usually in English. I have used pink ID (name in Thai script) for airline check-in probably 10 times, and it has been refused 2-3 times because it was in a different language
  2. You will find a lot of it is on Facebook marketplace/groups nowadays. The house I am in now I found on FB, the tenants in our rental property, we found on FB.
  3. I think you will find its part and parcel of general car mechanics skill set nowadays. Given that the first thing a mechanic does is plug in a laptop to diagnose problems. With EVs and hybrids etc, they will probably become more auto electricians than mechanics. I had a problem with nissan march recently, turned out to be one cylinder not working, so they replaced the unit (one for each cylinder) that is essentially the coil, distributer, spark plug for that cylinder. So there was no testing the coil, testing distributer, leads, sparkplug etc . Most new cars will tell you when a globe is blown, or its LEDs that dont blow.
  4. Most airlines just want some form of photo ID. ID has to be in English, that's why Pink ID doesnt often work as its in Thai (name is in Thai script) and doesn't match the name in English booking.
  5. Security cameras can have a very wide field of view, and the actual lens can look left right up down within that view, and have movement tracking features etc. It may appear to be looking at your front door, but in reality your front door is a small part of the field of view. The camera is probably looking at a fence, a gate etc., and your front door happens to be beyond that.
  6. That statement appears to be the legal company drumming up business, ie: you are screwed unless you use our services.
  7. I can buy many drugs here for a fraction of price of my home country price. It doesn't mean its fake. Its not a great business' model, if they go to all the trouble of producing a fake product, packaging etc, only to sell it for little/no profit.
  8. This isn't a story about number plates, its an advertisement for laundry detergent. Expect to see the guy on TV, pointing at a box of FAB, with a caption "its the brand I use"
  9. What does correct price mean ? Is there a mandated price set by the government, or a recommended retail price ?
  10. Yes, 1,000s of foreigners do company ownership of properties in Chonburi. There are no restrictions as such as to what the company, with minority (49%) foreign shareholders, can own. A quick google search will bring up lots of commentary, opinions, legalities etc. Using a company, solely to circumvent property ownership laws, isn't exactly legal, but its also not strictly illegal, its tolerated, and may be subject to change in the future.
  11. I think people would be shocked at the number of people that pass away inflight worldwide. Other than recent covid, this story would probably not even merit a mention. I had an air hostess girlfriend back in Australia, and she had experienced it twice in her career. And that was domestic flights.
  12. I'm on the darkside and walk to everything, I literally have chilled shopping mall with tops etc, at my front gate. restaurants, dentists, doctor, bars.
  13. I'm in khaonoi, and there are lots of behind closed door bars around me, maybe not strictly gogos but not much different.
  14. I think the whole range anxiety thing will pass, I read about a start-up in the US that does a mod to your EV where they fit a socket in the trunk/boot and they then have a network of portable battery pack sellers/hirers. The idea being if you want extra range or find yourself caught short, you grab a batt pack, put it in the trunk/boot, gives you an extra/backup 100 ks. You can exchange the batt pack at any reseller for a charged up one, the same as exchanging a gas bottle for the BBQ. I see a whole generation of EV users that wont charge, just swing by and get a new batt pack.
  15. Those cameras cost 300-400 baht (local mall or lazada), and you own it, and don't need to pay 50 bht a month (600 a year) to 3bb. They are simple to install, plug it into a light socket, fire up the app, follow the prompts. They record to an SD card, and to the cloud. You dont need 3bb to sell it to you for way more than it costs, or set it up.
  16. OP, there are literally 10,000 condos that would fit your criteria. Comes down to personal choice. You can live above a bar, or a couple of kilometers away in a quiet soi, you can be beachside, suburban or semi rural. Get setup in a hotel and look around. Most expats end up around at Jomtien or over the darkside
  17. 1500 Baht is a bit rich, 500 would be a reasonable price for a clean. As others have said, its a couple of screws to get the back off, a bit of compressed air to blow dust away etc. I got a new keyboard fitted to a dell laptop recently, the keyboard and fitting it cost 1,000 baht.
  18. That can certainly work, but where the OP is looking its mostly gated moobaans, you cant really cruise around looking for signs as they wont let you in.
  19. You will find a lot of listing on facebook marketplace and facebook buy/sell groups nowadays. Even agents do most of their advertising on there. That's where I found my house in soi khaonoi. The location here would suit you as there is a TOPs supermarket, restaurants etc, across the road. It can still be a bit of a battle getting the location as some people will put a map location thats accurate, others will say east pattaya, and its in Rayong.
  20. So if I don't want to lose point and lose my license, I can just pay the tourist without a license fine, and keep my Thai license
  21. I dont think the guy has lost much, its literally a couple of cheap tables and chairs, a television and a (probably owned by coca cola) refrigerator. I don't get what the guy is renting, or thinks he owns, A roof ???? He could take the extensive quality fittings with him and move on. Would it still be a "sports bar" without a TV ??????
  22. Its often a requirement for lots of Thai government offices, especially places like courts etc. The enforcement can vary, even some immigration offices are pretty strict and will deny entry.
