  1. OP, maybe mention what goods and quantity. There is no formal rule that allows a quantity of duty/tax free, for retire visa. There is however, a general exemption for used household goods, personal effects.
  2. So you basically moved next to an airport, and now your not happy with the planes. Incidents get reported in Pattaya, because its Pattaya. Stories about tourists behaving badly in other locations doesn't get the coverage. Its the same with suicide stories. The suicide rate in pattaya is no higher than anywhere else, it just gets reported.
  3. Like everything, the enforcement/interpretation can vary from office to office. I think you are basically correct, returning to the same address, a new report isn't required. Theoretically, any reporting is always the owner/housemasters responsibility, not the foreigner I moved house recently in Pattaya, wife is the housemaster in blue book, we registered for online and reported me at the new house. wife had tm30 app on her phone, log in and there I am, shown as living there. But, next extension, wife still had to go to the TM30 counter and do a new report. The year before, they looked at me like I was handing over a radioactive substance when I presented a fresh TM30 receipt. There is often no consistency. .
  4. Technically No, the condo office cant demand prepayment. Talk to the committee for the block, the manager works under their direction. Bring it up at the next AGM. Electricity usually has nothing to do with the condo office or manager, its billed direct from PEA/MEA. Just out of interest, is the manager a private management company ? As it sounds like something those mafia style companies will try and do.
  5. Yes, as the landlord/owner you are required to submit a TM30 for any foreigner staying at a property, for any amount of time.. Its reasonably easy to register for, and use, the online reporting system.
  6. The Thai police will favor whoever is recorded as the owner in the blue book, Thai or foreigner.
  7. Stay in a hotel. If you insist on stepping outside of the normal tourist accommodations, you will get all the issues you mention, and have none of the normal protections, legislation, processes that hotel provide. If you have issues with bogus operators cancelling bookings, or not following standard procedures, dont use bogus operators for bogus accommodations.
  8. If its just the battery you want, get it from lazada. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/battery-iphone-100-6-
  9. It will be business as usual. The Government has to be seen to be toning things down because the kings daughter is in critical condition in hospital.
  10. OP says he was on a non OB prior, so presume he is already doing 90 day reports. It may cause some confusion as OP may think 90 day has been reset.
  11. I think you would be pretty safe as there has been no history of cancelling a visa/extension that has already been issued. Any changes are to do with qualifying for a future visa/extension. .
  12. You just plan ahead and spend the 800k up until the day you leave. If you renew your visa/stay today, and you know you wont be renewing next year, start spending. If you do want to send money out there are private companies like Deemoney.
  13. Possibly you are unaware, but you can work (get a work permit) on marriage/family visa's.
  14. I didn't vote because there wasn't an option for me. Its horses for courses. I did lots of trail/motocross/sports bikes etc in my youth, and an auto certainly wouldn't ever have worked. Alternatively, I couldn't imagine a gear/clutch bike in all the stop start traffic, a carton of milk, groceries, a pillion etc. If money was no concern, I would certainly have a geared trail/sports bike, and a scooter
  15. It looks like the balcony has been filled in, you could always revert back.
  16. I think you will find no rental bikes have insurance, besides the compulsory 3rd party built into the yearly tax/registration. And that coverage is limited to 30k per accident.
  17. Of course they can read Thai, they are Thai staff working at a Thai airport. And yes, as I said, they do sometimes accept a Pink ID, however, often their official policy is an ID in the same language as the booking, and all bookings are usually in English. I have used pink ID (name in Thai script) for airline check-in probably 10 times, and it has been refused 2-3 times because it was in a different language
  18. You will find a lot of it is on Facebook marketplace/groups nowadays. The house I am in now I found on FB, the tenants in our rental property, we found on FB.
  19. I think you will find its part and parcel of general car mechanics skill set nowadays. Given that the first thing a mechanic does is plug in a laptop to diagnose problems. With EVs and hybrids etc, they will probably become more auto electricians than mechanics. I had a problem with nissan march recently, turned out to be one cylinder not working, so they replaced the unit (one for each cylinder) that is essentially the coil, distributer, spark plug for that cylinder. So there was no testing the coil, testing distributer, leads, sparkplug etc . Most new cars will tell you when a globe is blown, or its LEDs that dont blow.
  20. Most airlines just want some form of photo ID. ID has to be in English, that's why Pink ID doesnt often work as its in Thai (name is in Thai script) and doesn't match the name in English booking.
  21. Security cameras can have a very wide field of view, and the actual lens can look left right up down within that view, and have movement tracking features etc. It may appear to be looking at your front door, but in reality your front door is a small part of the field of view. The camera is probably looking at a fence, a gate etc., and your front door happens to be beyond that.
  22. That statement appears to be the legal company drumming up business, ie: you are screwed unless you use our services.
  23. I can buy many drugs here for a fraction of price of my home country price. It doesn't mean its fake. Its not a great business' model, if they go to all the trouble of producing a fake product, packaging etc, only to sell it for little/no profit.
  24. This isn't a story about number plates, its an advertisement for laundry detergent. Expect to see the guy on TV, pointing at a box of FAB, with a caption "its the brand I use"
