  1. Is it not possible to log in at ssa.gov and download it? https://www.ssa.gov/manage-benefits/get-tax-form-10991042s
  2. Well done.
  3. How was your nap, Mr. Van Winkle? Start reading here:
  4. You may wish to move to the Swiss Alps then.
  5. If looking at the overall picture (and not just one station), it looks pretty good:
  6. Go to the embassy/consulate, perhaps. Edit to add: Or you might teach her how to use a computer prior to your departure.
  7. Probably this one: "Knew it. All the people in other topics saying my worries about being forced to use phone apps for banking were unfounded, well, let's see what happens when you have your money disappear into one of these digital black holes."
  8. You need to select "funds for long term stay" as the purpose for it to code at FTT. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the options to find it.
  9. If you are using a VPN, disconnect and try logging in to Lazada. Had the same verification code exercise with them until one day I tried logging in without my VPN. Bingo.
  10. It's fine right now. Surprisingly so, for this late in February.
  11. Same problem with trying to do a transfer on the "new and improved" website. Screen freezes and times out so for any transfers I now have to use the phone app. No problems with the bill pay section (yet) on the desktop website. The other troubling new feature is that - even when you have set up a payment - it doesn't show up in the "scheduled transactions" section of the relevant account. You have to go back to bill pay to see what's scheduled to be paid on a future date.
  12. Does this guy - who is a serial copyright abuser - pay AN to place his plagiarized content on the forum? (Asking for a friend.)
  13. Yes but the Chinese ones look so cute in their sun dresses.
  14. Mike Tyson punched so many people, so hard, so many times......and the face that he flocked up the most is his own.
  15. In Chiang Mai there are meetings (monthly, I believe) and there are breakfasts (twice monthly.) The meetings are where club business is discussed (finances, events, guest speakers, etc.) It's a more structured event than the breakfasts and - personally speaking - I can't imagine it would be of interest for a first time visitor unless you were planning to be a participating member long term. The breakfasts are purely social so you show up, check-in, pay, then head for the buffet line. Take your plate, choose a group of people with whom to sit, eat and discuss whatever comes up. Pretty casual and this is where I would suggest one begin as a new visitor. Nationality mix: Americans, Western Europeans, Australians, Japanese mostly. (Disclaimer: I haven't attended in about five years. What I have described above may not be accurate today.)
  16. Close. The x-ray machine can "see" the laptop but the batteries and other components are so dense that they may obscure other objects in your bag. That's why security wants travelers to remove them from carry-on bags.
  17. (Note to self: airport x-ray machines can see what's inside of your carry-on bag.)
  18. I'm a lifetime member of the Chiang Mai Expat Club. I used to go to the twice monthly breakfasts (when they were at the River Market) to socialize with others who I knew would be there. I stopped going for two reasons: (1) the people with whom I enjoyed socializing are no longer here; and (2) the breakfast time conflicts with the time I now frequent the gym.
  19. Split the difference and print half of the pages in color, half of the pages in b/w.
  20. Sotto voce: (Wardrobe provided by The Ray Charles Collection of Beverly Hills.)
  21. From the article: "In November, the government revised the eligibility criteria and excluded those having monthly income of 70,000 baht and above, as well as those having bank deposits of 500,000 baht and above. This reduced the number of people eligible for the handouts to 50 million from 54 million, lowering the estimated cost to around 500 billion baht from 560 billion baht." So no, it's not designed to cost 60 billion THB to "run the thing".
