  1. https://paleorobbie.com/grocery#Steaks Some nice NZ grass fed steaks as well as First Light wagyu aged steaks rated from MB3+ to MB6+. Quick delivery, shipped by refrigerated truck courier in a couple of days and arrives in a cooler packed in dry ice.
  2. From the OP: "Among the savings accounts, 1,023 had more than 500 million baht, while 98.52 million had less than 50,000 baht." Wealth distribution in Thailand, in a nutshell.
  3. Enuff Z'nuff. Kuala Lumpur, here I come.
  4. I recommend Bangkok R.I.A. group for blood work - they have a lab in CM and I took the "General Public" package that includes: Complete blood count testing (CBC) Fasting blood sugar (FBS) Hemoglobin A1C screening Cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL, LDL screening Liver screening (SGOT, SGPT, Alk.phospatase, Total Protein, Albumin, Bilirubin, Globulin) Kidney screening (BUN, Creatinine) Uric acid testing Urine analysis Hepatitis B virus screening (HBs Ag, HBs Ab, HBc Ab) (And I added a pancreatic enzymes test for a small extra fee.) Results emailed within 36 hours; the cost was under 3,000 thb. (They have more comprehensive packages as well.) The website lists their Bangkok location. https://www.brianet.com/en/map-and-contact/
  5. Or just take a screenshot, save to photos.
  6. So will choose to continue receiving refunds or will you choose the "opt out" alternative? (I wonder if they are required by law to offer this option.) "Wise has automatically enrolled a trial group of customers in the UK into receiving fee refunds. If you’d like to stop receiving refunds, you can opt out at any time."
  7. Beer contains alcohol and hops, both of which are preservative in nature. Doubtful that additional preservatives would be added since that would increase cost and likely impact the flavor. (Before someone chimes in with "but you don't know that, do you?", the answer is no I don't personally know that. No one outside of the brewing industry is going to be able to give the definitive answer but for the reasons listed above I think it's unlikely.)
  8. "Some 200 farmers showed up at Chang Phueak Police Station in Chiang Mai’s Muang district on Friday demanding to know what had happened to their money. San Pa Tong Agriculture Cooperative claims that more than 100 million baht of its deposit with a reputable bank has mysteriously disappeared. There has apparently been no sign of the money despite three attempts to negotiate with the bank." https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40025194
  9. Transferred USD on Friday afternoon, arrived in my BBL account today at 14:00. This is typical for WISE transfers for me so any "glitch" that may have been present last week did not affect my transaction in this instance. (Note: my WISE account is "tagged" to use BBL only.)
  10. Was Mr. Roper the landlord advertising the room?
  11. Not donuts! Oh, the horror. Next you'll be telling us there's a warehouse-style grocery store just down the street.....
  12. Is there some reason you can't travel to Chiang Mai for a week or two to decide if you "still like it"? Seems like checking it out in person would be more helpful than asking others - who may have different sets of values than you do - about it.
  13. Can't you leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, re-enter visa exempt, and apply for a new non-O then extend it as you would normally? You have the money in the bank already. Basically, start all over from the immigration perspective.
  14. Obviously I didn't miss it since it was the first sentence of my post. Perhaps in your haste to post you missed that. Again, if he mails it and it is accepted - job done. If they don't accept a mailed 90 day report, he's still going to pay the 2,000 thb fine he's already planning to pay. No reason not to try.
  15. No reason to believe they refuse mail-ins either because, as you said, you didn't receive a clear answer to the question. And thus you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by mailing your 90 day report to Buriram Imm. If they accept it (and there's no reason that they shouldn't), great job! If they don't accept it, you'll be in the exact same situation you are now - you'll be paying a 2,000 THB fine. (I'm surprised no one has suggested just paying a Pattaya visa agent 500 thb or so to file one for you there - you wouldn't even have to go to immigration.)
  16. 90 day reports are required when you are within the national borders of the country of Thailand for 90 consecutive days. If you leave prior to 90 days, no report is required. If you leave and return, the day you return is day 1 of your new 90 day cycle.
  17. If you liked Chiang Mai in 2016, you'd probably still like it. If you didn't, you won't.
  18. I think it depends upon the transaction in question. IIRC, many transactions through WISE can go through an intermediary bank before landing at Bangkok Bank. So, even though you bank at BBL, WISE may send your money to SCB first (as an example) and then it gets transferred from SCB to BBL. In that type of transaction, it would be unclear which is the "partner" bank taking longer to process. That said, if you have asked WISE to "tag" your account - as I have done - so that no Thai intermediary bank is used, then it's a direct transaction between WISE and BBL. Since "tagging" my WISE account, 100% of my WISE transfers take at least 24 hours, sometimes 48 hours.
  19. I was pretty sure it was the Bonvoy Brilliant and I'm relatively certain the Platinum status plus 25 elite nights credit that comes with it is the main benefit you value. I had considered it until they switched to the dining credit (instead of the $300 property credit) and then raised the annual fee to $650.
  20. Taken from a similar discussion on anther forum, response was 10 months ago, establishments below are in Bangkok: Fuji Japanese Restaurant - Terminal 21 + Siam Paragon Piri Piri Flaming Grill FOGO ASIA Steakhouse (This is El Toro on Sukhumvit opposite Soi 22) The Sportsman - Sukhumvit Soi 13 Burger & Lobster - Bangkok (by Chit Lom exit on Sukhumvit) Paul - (Central - Chit Lom) / Bakery in most high-end malls The Game - between Soi 9 and 11 Hemingway - Soi 11 Sushi Express - Terminal 21 Asoke Starbucks near Asoke BTS (Btw, I hate the AMEX "coupon book" approach whereby one pays a large annual fee to hold the card and receives a "monthly allowance" from AMEX to offset the fee. Insulting and far too much effort.)
  21. Tangential question - if one were using the income method (65K or more THB transferred FTT per month) into an account, is there an optimal time to switch banks so as not to run afoul of immigration? For example, would Thai immigration accept six months' of transfers on statements from one bank and six months' of transfers into another bank? Or would one want to switch right after the annual extension?
  22. Enjoy it while it lasts.
  23. This is what we got in KL. Complimentary small basket of four biscuits for the two of us when we sat down. I don't eat much bread any more but I'd probably make an exception for a couple of those biscuits.
  24. Interesting that they charged you for the cheddar cheese biscuits (which I used to enjoy). A couple of years back at Red Lobster in Kuala Lumpur the biscuits were provided free of charge to each table as a "starter" of sorts, much like chips and salsa are provided gratis at many Mexican joints.
