I have the (empty) blue book for my condo since purchase in 2009. All it has is the address info. It would be useful/required if you sell your condo or if you want to get a yellow book/pink ID card. If you have Thai partner who wants to make your home their main residence then they could be added to the blue book. Blue book and chanote was needed when I first got my retirement visa (CW in 2019). Yellow book/pink ID can be useful for registering vehicle and getting Thai driving licences but is not essential as there are other ways.

I just received the email below for those here who do our own online TM30 reports. I guess we should all receive this notice, however in case not, the details follow. Stupidly it requires new registration but is seems easier than previously - for new registration go to: https://tm30.immigration.go.th/TM30/Foreigner/TM30Th/index.html Would be nice if they have updated the submission pages so that they will work with all web browsers - time will tell. เรื่อง / Subject: ช่องทางการแจ้งที่พักอาศัย(ตม.30) / Notification of residence for foreigners (TM.30) We are pleased to inform you that with effect from 15 September 2023, the website address (URL) will be changed as follows. Never dealt with True but have had TOT, AIS and now 3BB at my condo. After ditching TOT, both AIS and susequently 3BB were connected within 2 days. Very easy. They both had equipment boxes in comms room in basement. Advise asking your juristic person manager "what is best internet provider at this condo" so you can make an informed choice. They will know.

Anyone thinking that they will be compensated by a Thailand Taxi driver (whether legal and insured or not) is living in Cloud Cuckoo Land. I would still ride with the lady in the OP versus some taxi mafia driver (who could easily be uninsured as per other posts). Nobody asks to see evidence of insurance each time they take a "taxi".

Given a choice, who would many of us rather be driven by in Phuket? This lady or one of the male taxi mafia? What's her number for bookings? ????

Same if from UK. British Consulate stopped issuing "affirmation of residence" in December 2022.

Business leader sees tourism as key to Thailand’s economic growth
soi3eddie replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"Eggs in one basket" is a phrase the springs to mind. If the new government was clever they would drop the fixation of Chinese tourism. All tourists help the Thai economy, not just Chinese. Not just the above, but they should be attracting investment in industry such as manufacturing (cars and technolgy). At one time, almost all the Hard Drives sold seemed to have a "Made in Thailand" mark. In these days of Solid State Drives, maybe the Thais could offer incentives to technology companies to establish factories in Thailand. -
Don't buy ground coffee. Buy beans and grind it yourself for a fresher taste. For the last 25 years I have been grinding beans and using a cafetiere (French Press) to make coffee at home. You can adjust the strength as to your taste. I did a short film for a buddy a few years ago showing the process.

Reading the above has given me a headache. I can confirm that upon laying some "pipe" earlier this week with my SE Asian GF, the pipe was hot to start with and got hotter when inserted. No heat loss at all. The result was that at the end of the regular "experiment" the pipe and it's container and ejected contents were even hotter. No measurements needed as the feelings were sufficient. No lectures nor psuedo-science nor thermal measurements needed. The mutual understanding was pure pleasure.

Jump forward 20 years? So few posts on this topic in that time. First went to Thermae in July 2020 and it was very quiet. Went again in March 2023 and it was fun. Did a couple of circuits just window shopping and chatting. Plenty of opportunities for us whiteys if interested. A broad mix of broads and something for everyone. Sally forth and dive right in for some adventure!

Bangkok Cabbie Returns Wallet with 370K Baht to Bangladeshi Tourist
soi3eddie replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
That's some size wallet the Bangladeshi had! I struggle to get 30,000 Baht in my wallet let alone 373,000 Baht. Even if in $100 bills, that would still be over 300 notes. Just can't see how that would fit in a "wallet". Must have been some kind of bag. Still, nice of the next passenger and cabbie to return it. Definitely deserves recognition and a reward to both for their honesty. -
No problems at all for me with my AIS POSTPAY SIM in the UK since mid-April. I don't subscribe to any roaming packages while in the UK but simply keep the SIM in the phone as second SIM for receiving any OTPs from Kbank. Their mobile App is good and no reason not to use it though IMO. Earlier this year while in Thailand, the SIM went dead with no notice. No service. Took it to AIS and they told me it was an "old" SIM (only from Aug 2020) and they replaced it immediately at no charge. Advise you get a new SIM once back in Thailand.

Buying extra Baggage with Thaismile From the UK
soi3eddie replied to malct's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Drove past Thai Airways old office in Albemarle Steet, London a few weeks ago. Still got the same colours on the shopfront but all branding, names and numbers removed. Their website says "all agents working from home". I've been using the Thai Bangkok call centre numbers since early 2020 (open 24/7). Skype is the way to go and the Thai Airways number is +6623561111 -
Culturally, many here would bear allegiance to their "home" country. Once all western countries start taxing for citizenship (rather than residence), will they still hold that alegiance? Quite a few wealthy US citizens, who also hold 2nd country passports are renouncing US citizenship. Will Brits, Aussies and Europeans do same if taxation on citizenship comes to pass (and they can access 2nd passport)?

Online fraud declines as Thais embraces digital safety measures
soi3eddie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Promises of instant riches will always entrap Thais (and other nationalities), whether online or by other means. There are always those greedy and susceptible to fraudulent schemes. -
