British Embassy Affirmation of Residence
soi3eddie replied to FruitPudding's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thanks. Very useful. I normally use DLT Morchit so will try Area 3 in Phra Khanong instead. -
British Embassy Affirmation of Residence
soi3eddie replied to FruitPudding's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thanks. Friend in Hua Hin said same and offered to file TM30 at his house for me. A bit messy as address on licence will not be my home in Bangkok. -
British Embassy Affirmation of Residence
soi3eddie replied to FruitPudding's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
My motorcycle licence is up for renewal in the next year. As I don't stay in Thailand for 90 consecutive days due to travel (so no 90 day report), it is not possible to get COR from Immigration. Now the British Consulate don't issue the letter, how am I to renew my driver's licence without this item? I do have yellow book, however the DLT would not accept that last year for car licence renewal. I'm guessing using an agent will be required. -
A. Give them everything and more. Update your sponsor letter. A good reason to digitise, save and back up all documents (I do this with GF's passport full copy, entry, exit stamps and flight boarding cards). Still don't get how you wife could lose such a valuable document as old passport but Asians don't place as much importance on evidence for future life. NB: my GF's two children are entitled to another citizenship but after 14 and 20 years they have zero status in that 3rd country despite being entitled to it. I think you'll be fine.

Strong stuff. Maybe kills humans too?

Just ask yourselves. Would you buy a home off this man? There is already FazWaz, HipFlat, DD Property and hundreds of others. There are so many issues with his spiel that don't inspire confidence. I won't criticise specifically, though as a potential buyer I would say that I am not looking for cheap, I am looking for genuine, well presented properties that are good value. No dummy listings, remove listings not available, answer your phone, reply to emails promptly and interact with your customers. Oh, and there's the problem, your buyers are not your customers. The sellers are your customers. For that reason, buyer beware! Note: No mention of email address or phone number on this advertorial. Not impressed despite all the "social media followers".

Is Anxiety a Pre-Existing Condition?
soi3eddie replied to omnipresent's topic in Insurance in Thailand
Yes. Anywhere that it's on record and could be disclosed to the insurance company. -
Is Anxiety a Pre-Existing Condition?
soi3eddie replied to omnipresent's topic in Insurance in Thailand
If anxiety is on your health record with your GP/Family Doctor/Hospital then it should be declared on insurance application. The insurer may decline cover entirely, limit coverage to exclude any claim for anxiety, or (almost certainly), increase the premium charged for insurance. If anxiety is not on your records, then do not declare it. -
Money Transfer.
soi3eddie replied to NoshowJones's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Lloyds Bank to Bangkok Bank a few weeks ago. Sent in GBP and exchange rate by BKK Bank not too bad (not as good as Wise though). Lloyds fee was £9.50. Money arrived next day. Needed the FET Cert. Good value service for us. -
This is a situation I am also in. Thai lawyer told me that under will and probate the condo can be transferred with no FET to foreign beneficiary. I'm not so sure and haven't researched further so this topic is useful. Even when I divorced my Thai wife, both names on chanote, I had to import 50% FET to satisfy land office before ex's name could be removed from chanote.

Pita Tells Cheering Crowd Phuket To Be “The Pearl Of The World”
soi3eddie replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
It'll take a lot of effort to change Phuket so that many members of this forum and the ex-pat community will ever visit again. It's OK advertising it to the world who likely know no better, but this overpriced scam island is not somewhere I'll likely visit again (except to the airport, rent a car and head off the isalnd). -
Sad storry. Hope the injured recover swiftly and fully. From the OP's linked Sky article... Annecy attack: British girl, 3, among six stabbed in French Alps park was there on holiday The suspect has held refugee status in Sweden for the past decade, but had also applied for asylum status in France, Switzerland and Italy. Four children and two adults were wounded. So Asylum shopping. Already granted refuge in a safe European country but wanted to try other countries. What does that say about the credibility of some "refugees".

Non-O visa (Retirement purpose)
soi3eddie replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
My transfer into Thailand of the 800K was done at least 4 months before applying for the Non-O retirement. No mention from I/O at CW about date on document. -
Pattaya Authorities Inspect Homeless Community Near Bali Hai Pier
soi3eddie replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
How about seeing if there is a way to assist them in finding more suitable accommodation at their own free will. Human rights unaffected then. -
Apologies, I now see the forum it was posted under (British Consular Information). They were very helpful and efficient. Easy to get to too. BTW: I understand that they no longer do affirmation of residence so it seems about the only thing they do is emergency stuff, marriage, certified copies of passports, adoption and Thai nationality supporting letter.

No mention of which country's consular office you are going to use. If the UK, then I paid by card at the appointment for affirmation of residence last November.

I've had exactly the same issue at my condo in Bangkok. Dickhead Aussie and his Thai wife and two kids in the condo above. <deleted>! Never a problem with Thai people but this <deleted> tosser! Thankfully they only visit rarely as he works and lives overseas with his family. Kids running up and down on their heels for hours very late at night. Sounds like a herd of elephants. Must hurt their feet surely. He took exception to me knocking on his door and politely asking him to quieten the kids. Happened 3 times in the last 5 years (when myself and his family in residence at same time). I think that the suspended ceiling amplifies the sound. IMO, no way to easily remedy without pulling down all the ceilings and insulating but still likely to get low frequency noise - like thunder. Now he knows to get his kids to behave or get his door knocked late at night. Funny how his wife hides away.

I use Chaeng Wattana and non-o extension for retirement can be done 45 days in advance. Likely same for non-o marriage. I book an appointment online. Very easy there nowadays.

You don't say which country. Likely to get a better return in a western country. In the UK there are children's accounts that can be run by parents (who then control withdrawals). I was recently tidying up papers and came across a forgotten account for my son taken out at birth (he's now 19). The account had just over £3,000 in it but was paying a paltry 0.5% interest. We just closed it and he's invested the money into a Lifetime ISA. Look at what's on offer in your home country (not Thailand). If it was me doing this again I'd look at some kind of managed stocks/shares investment fund. As it's a long term 15 years+ time frame there is more chance of it growing well and better than an interest bearing account. Although interest rates of 4.5% are now available here in the UK.

Is Bangkok really under threat from sea level rise?
soi3eddie replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
It's not so only the threat of rising sea levels. The city is actually sinking. Water extraction and the weight of building projects is to blame.
