  1. It would be expected that they built their website to earn commission from the hotels. Nothing wrong with that and they have created a good and useful website. They appear to be a booking website except you do not book with them. They collect all your data and supply it to the hotel who then contacts you to proceed a booking. What the website at asq.in.th does not do is state they they will share your data with 3rd parties nor do they give you the option to "opt out" of this. Could you imagine if booking.com, Expedia, Agoda etc. did the same and shared your full name, date of birth, nationality and travel plans with 3rd parties? Nowhere on the asq.in.th site do they say that they are thaivisacentre.com. They have a "privacy policy" that is clearly worthless. Next time I will be more guarded with my info. Maybe you don't care about yours as much.
  2. I used them too but soon got unsolicited spam email trying to sell me visa services etc. They ask for info from you before passing it to the hotel when really only the hotel needs your info. Clearly they are harvesting data for future use or resale. 3. I've known some Thai ladies who would give him a run for his money at the BBQ.
  4. Same here. I arrived on 4th November and will depart on 10th December. I got insurance for only this duration. My extension of stay (retirement) expires on 4th May 2022. I was expecting to only be stamped in to expiry date of insurance but was given permitted stay right up to expiry of visa extension. I'm sure I read somewhere that they now only want insurance valid for at least 30 days.
  5. Oh dear. At least it was only his head that got slashed. What is it with Thai women, why do they get so jealous?
  6. Will that be the Thai Airways Bancruptcy Museum U-Tapao? Thais admitted free of charge and foreigners 1,000 Baht. All part of the "rehabilitation plan". Maybe it's those in position of power over these matters that need to be "rehabilitated". Permanently!
  7. No. Not yet! At end of September 2021 no planes had been sold. They keep saying they will sell 42 planes by year end. But then they have been saying they will be selling planes for over a year now.
  8. Thought gambling was "illegal" in Thailand. Crypto great on the way up but how about the down when your "investments" halve?
  9. Krabi is a "quality tourist" destination. Not a business location.
  10. He's on a "jolly" at Thai taxpayers/supporters expense.
  11. Curious to know under what terms the "lump sums" are paid out and how much per claim. That is a hell of a lot of money. Can those figures be true? That's about 1 Billion US Dollars. An enormous sum. Assume these policies are for incoming travellers only? Not much detail. What is missing from this story? (other than Thai insurance companies trying to weasel out of paying valid claims).
  12. Put him in one of those kayaks in the picture and push him out into the Andaman Sea without a paddle. With any luck he won't wash back up on Thai shores.
  13. I used to spend a lot of time with family down in Nakhon Si Thammarat. For what I knew in those days all the lottery there was the "underground" type anyway. Don't recall ever seeing any sellers of the official lottery. My ex's family were often winners on the underground lottery and occasionally there were big parties on the winnings.
  14. No mention in either the Daily News or Asean Now article as to whether he was a "tourist" rather than a long time expat. Either way, I suspect there will be more cases like this as "crazy" tourists arrive under relaxed entry rules. So much for the "quality tourists" desired by the Thai government.
  15. No idea even what "Arts in Paradise" is or was. They seem to get it prominently displayed on maps though.
  16. Just looked at their website (works well). Roundtrip from BKK/LGW/BKK on 16th & 21st December for 14,850 Baht in economy with no baggage, no meals or no seat selection. Not a bad price but Gatwick is a deal breaker for me. If it was to/from Heathrow then a definite consideration. Choosing ScootPlus (Premium) with food and 30K baggage was 27,762 Baht. An interesting time to be starting a new route. Any competition between Bangkok/London welcomed to keep other carrier's prices in check. Especially when direct non-stop.
  17. You try walking all that way with a mask fully covering! Especially after some super expensive wine the night before ????
  18. Despite Bangkok's reputation, it does have lots of green areas and quiet sois away from the traffic. Lots of parks too. Wachirabenchathat and Chatuchak are just two Bangkok parks on my morning route here.
  19. Yesterday morning I walked about 14kms. Up and down Pattaya beach from Naklua to Pratumnak and back. No point running. Facing or following the Thai ladies poses no dangers but only delights. Plenty of good views to see. Highly recommended.
  20. Me too. Went out for dinner last night and it cost 1,990 THB for a bottle of Aussie Yara Valley Chardonnay. Prohibition? What prohibition ????
  21. What is the fine (if there is one) for riding without a licence number plate? Could start to see more bikes without plates.
