PM Srettha pledges to woo back Russian tourists with revived flights
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So I'm guessing the PM will remain mum on the state-sponsored murder of Alexei Navalny? Not great timing on this plea for tourists. Shameful.- 131 replies

It's called supply and demand. Simply amazing that someone in authority here is so clueless. And even thinks it's OK to fix prices. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand does not set ticket prices. from the linked article... Suriya reportedly asserted that fare reductions would be implemented before the Songkran Festival. Obviously, he hasn't looked at domestic prices for Songkhran travel, where all low-price fare buckets are sold out already.

Thaksin Has Degenerative Bones In The Neck: Pheu Thai Spokesperson
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is interesting that when thaksin was in the hospital, and people were asking about the specifics of his condition(s), we were told that his medical privacy was protected by law. Now that he's out of the hospital, and on parole, there seems to be no shortage of details from the thaksin camp on his many, many, many health issues. I'm not sure who this charade is for. No one believes a word said about this fiasco- 58 replies

NESDC adjusts Thailand’s GDP growth projections for 2023 and 2024
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
According to the Prime Minister/Minister of Finance today, "the latest data indicated that the country's economy was in a crisis". But what does he know? -
I think these eight, along with Minnie, are Big Joke's crew who were swept up in the bust back in September around the time the new National Police Chief was being selected. https://thethaiger.com/news/national/big-joke-accused-of-involving-with-online-gambling-operation https://www.thaipbsworld.com/suchanun-minnie-sucharitchinsri-the-woman-in-spotlight-of-latest-thai-police-scandal/ I would have thought that this ugly mess would have been "cleaned up" by now. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40035725

Cheapest U.S. SIM card for OTP overseas
bamnutsak replied to connda's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Note that Mint Mobile is no longer a reasonable option. They did away with UpRoam and now only offer Minternational, which is much more expensive. https://aseannow.com/topic/1318252-using-mintmobile-new-minternational-plan-to-get-bank-code-txt/ https://www.reddit.com/r/mintmobile/comments/19fmbxa/bring_back_uproam_please/ -
Cheapest U.S. SIM card for OTP overseas
bamnutsak replied to connda's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Gazillions of threads on this topic, so a search would yield valuable information. What is your budget? AFAIK, the cheapest would be Google Voice. voice.google.com/signup It's free. For me it works with everything I use, dozens of log-ins. UlrtaMobile PAYG is $3/month incl 100 SMSes, and supports WiFi calling. https://www.ultramobile.com/paygo/ https://www.ebay.com/itm/285112988423 Both require sign up/activation by someone (you, friend, family member) physically in the U.S. Many 2FA requirements are available in the entity's mobile app. -
Rep. James Comer: Biden impeachment vote may not happen Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the chairman of the House Oversight Committee who is leading the Republican effort to investigate President Joe Biden, says the House may not hold an impeachment vote after all. Comer told Spectrum News that the “math keeps getting worse” for Republicans, whose razor-thin majority in the House got even tighter after losing a Republican-held New York congressional seat earlier this week. Comer’s months-long probe has not produced any evidence that Joe Biden has benefitted from his son Hunter’s business activities. https://spectrumnews1.com/ky/louisville/news/2024/02/15/comer--biden-impeachment-vote-may-not-happen-

The unexploded ordinance, and the soil, have hopefully been remediated. -
SIM card router that has portforwarding?
bamnutsak replied to Requirement's topic in IT and Computers
I think you have to check with AIS, DTAC or True to see if they support Port Forwarding, and via which DDNS AFAIK, DTAC does not. AIS and True may under request? I think this router supports port forwarding: https://shopee.co.th/list/tplink/mr6400 -
This is the Thai way. No one wants to make a decision. So they form a committee. What is interesting is that no one knows why this rule was first enacted, eons ago by some "Coup-Maker" ca. 1972 (Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn?), eliminated and then reinstated during the reign of Shinawatra. It's about the kids? Or government workers? Or ??? Hence almost any argument for change can be rebutted. Progress comes slowly in the Kingdom, for a reason.

Like most "rules" here, and like Immigration, abiding by the law and enforcement is optional/flexible. In my neighborhood bars/restaurants/pubs open ~ 09:00 and serve through to 04:00. 7/11's abide by the rules, as do supermarkets. Most of the "mom & pop" shops have been run off by CPAll, those that survive sell all hours.

How was this sorted? Which bank? Which office? AFAIK, there is no rule regarding the requirement for direct pension transfers. The monthly income method calls for ANY income "such as Pension, savings or other income".

Given the incompetence of this government generally, and the Minister of Public Health specifically, who/which has accomplished nothing to date, it is probably reasonable to expect little change in cannabis "rules/laws" much before 2027. The minister, Chonlanan Srikaew, is busy trying to get the Thai populace to "get busy" makin' babies. More people are dying on his watch than are being born. And there must be a dozen or so serious public health issues that need to be addressed.

GSB asses terms for informal debtors in Thailand’s debt relief bid
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sorry, but this whole effort seems to be mostly a PR stunt, for reasons which remain a mystery. I was never sure who the "audience" was for this "Scheme". Months and months, starting with a list of Influential People, and they end up with 400 "referrals", and not resolutions. "Registered". "Eligible". and then a jump to "success". By making "informal" debt "formal" debt. It's still debt, albeit at reasonable interest rates, which is a good thing. -
Thaksin Virtually Held Hostage With Lese Majeste Lawsuit: NIDA Academic
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think those in real power want to keep a sword poised to make sure he lives up to his end of the bargain. Although, charges can be conjured from thin air. Yingluck's return is definitely on hold for now. -
I don't see how "politics" or "squabbling" is affecting "stability". The State has full, absolute, and complete power. This government is simply incompetent. AFAIK, not a single thing has been accomplished by this government or this parliamentary session. Instead of moving existing projects forward, for which there is known demand, the "government", in the form of the ill-equipped PM, is out pedaling "Land Bridges", and seeking amorphous foreign investments.

Parties or their members are behind political conflicts – NIDA Poll
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Judiciary, the permanent civil servants class, and other people are behind the conflicts. It's tradition vs. progress. Tradition demands conflict to maintain its position. The political parties, which survive dissolution (if any) are merely a manifestation of this desire to hold power and turn back the clock to pre-1932.
