some 'hybrids' can't even be run in pure ev mode, the engine has to be turning all the time or in case of 'mild' hybrids, only has small battery power for air-conditioning so that they can shut off the engine while idling stopping in traffic

If you see queues on the final tolls on google maps, maybe take the hwy36 exit to Naklua, but that exit might be jammed with people going to Rayong too

handle bars you can manage as you'll be aware of where your hands are, it's the mirrors positioned on the same level as car's mirror that's gonna be a problem, If you look around a lot of Thai Forza350 riders just fold them permanently and attach small mirrors to the side instead there are garages that makes the mirror fold electrically which is a lot more useful than the electric windshield

Songkran traffic to Pattaya usually aren't too bad there'll be congestion around the service station in Bang Pakong Might want to ask around for Taxis/Limousine that has easy/m-pass as that's around 20 minute at the final tolls you can cut through

Buying gold at a gold shop
digbeth replied to watgate's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
the only guarantee is that on bigger piece or bullion will be stamped with the shop's hallmark, and of course they'll buy it back bigger brands/chains from Bangkok Chinatown is probably better known and more accepted -
Thai government plans 7% VAT on imported goods from May
digbeth replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The exemption was there because they did not foresee the scale and reach of importation that is now possible with the Chinese (Singaporean) apps, going back 10 years ago, ordering online means doing it through the computer, you'd need credit cards or bank accounts and be able to click through things in English, sure a few Farang and Hiso thais maybe able to get things off Amazon, the average Somchais have no idea how but now there's cash on delivery and any grandma can order things on their phone.... and no they're not doing it through the post office like leaving the green card for you to pay at the office, they're asking for a cut from the apps, they know they won't be able to handle the volume otherwise, The Chinese found a loophole or lobbied for it in the first place, same with electric cars, they negotiated exemption for electric cars import where imports from other countries get 80% tax, decade back, battery electric vehicle in most people minds are probably gold carts... and now they're set to dominate the market -

VAT has always been here they just try to close the loophole that allows personal import of small value stuff to be vat-exempt trying to stop the deluge of chinese stuff -

It was unfair that shops in China can set up store fronts in Lazada or Shopee and ship 'cheap' <1500.- baht stuff into Thailand tax free and with possibly cheaper freight than any local thai based stores can do... this is not even considering that Thai business has to pay business taxes on top but levying this on the platforms like Lazada and Shopee means people will move on to other platforms that don't have presence in Thailand like Alibaba, -
Shops that makes their own gold Jewellery will happily take them https://www.goldtraders.or.th/DailyPrices.aspx this is the daily spot price from the Thai gold trader's shops would based their buy/sell price off this, for 99.99% 24Kgold, look at the last row, first column is price per gram, the middle is price per baht weight (15.244) grams, if the shops would only give you price for their usual thai gold (96.5%) you're getting ripped off at around 100 baht per gram

So baiting locals into confrontation on camera for 'views' is the MO for these guys? So getting <deleted> kicked in on camera would drive more traffic and earn him more money? I's a win-win I think I can tolerate this

conductor rail falls off, pink line had the same issue already last December, this time it didn't looks as catastrophic as it was the inside rail that broke off, and got caught in the walkway between the concrete guideways (rails) whereas the outside one broke off and fell to the street clearly there are issue with the material of mounting hardware or how they're attached to the concrete, last time it happened they said they had 'inspected' the tracks but that it happened again means they'll need to replace whatever it is that fails for the whole length of the tracks of both lines

I've seen case where the business call for Bangkok Hospital ambulance when their customers needed one in their shop, only once they start to realize which hospital they're going to that they jumped out of the ambulance and ran off

If the shop give you spot price for Thai gold (96.5%/23K) when selling 99.99% 24K gold walk away, it's not like they don't know what they are and will happily sell 24k gold for a premium calculating what price should be paid over the spot price will seem difficult, if all you know is the spot price for Thai gold per baht weight and the 24k bullion you have is in grams but the Thai gold traders association that set the price each day actually has a reference price for 99.99gold per gram https://www.goldtraders.or.th/DailyPrices.aspx

bars are difficult to smuggle in unnoticed, they x-ray bags on arrivals sometime, if they noticed, you'll be watched after baggage claim and ask to open your luggage if you don't go through the 'something to declare' exit coins however, mixed in with regular coins in your pocket or purse... how could they tell? Selling to gold shops is no problem, they'll happily molten them down to use in their jewelry there are reporting requirements the gold shop has to comply for money laundering law, they'll need ID and has to report if the transaction is over certain threshold, 2 million baht if dealing in cash, transfer of sales to bank accounts are exempt from reporting rule as the banks will be the ones doing the reporting and they already have your details

before covid there was big crackdown on hotels without hotel license in tourist town like Pattaya, back then it was found out that only small percentage of 'hotels' actually had hotel license, which to qualify they require facilities like pool, lobby, restaurant many went by with room for rent or apartment license instead Unlike condos, detached house can be rented out 'homestay' for under 30 days so nothing wrong with airbnb out villas

Berry Pickers? -
That would be soi 7 or 8 bars, nobody would set up water buckets in front of the shops in most other area, South Pattaya and walking street would still be dry, coming from the dark side you could do yours shopping at Carrefour then or Tesco in North Pattaya without being bothered
