  1. I cant say I blame you Whilst in my own case its entirely self inflicted (through loss of access to existing Thai registered Sim ) I cannot by any means whatsoever gain knowledge of whats actually in my account despite 9 transfers they've received over the last month I really did think that at least verbally (via the call centre) having obviously all registered information that they'd tell me but no "solly sir" My fault entirely but nonetheless
  2. You've said that several times. Are you talking about the old "hip" cards or normal debit cards ??
  3. I sent some money again this morning stupid not to at this rate and used the app rather than desktop Top of left hand corner I had a red dot not seen before clicked on it and was presented with what the opening post was seeing reference updating details starting with a selfie Backed out and went to desktop where nothing was required and monies dispatched as normal On the desktop though as per screenshot the Green "Request money" icon has disappeared leaving just "send money" icon Looks like the opening post was spot on
  4. Fella what are you barking about and quit trolling will you I'll not further take the offered bait..... We were at 44.50 on the Opening Post I mentioned pound cost averging should we hit 45 and the current Live rate is 44.78 where its been roughly at since midday Thursday BST We're NOT talking about Sterling against other currencies we are ONLY talking about Sterling/Baht in this specific thread Capiche.... (PS clearly you're completely unaware that only the USD has a direct exchange rate with every worldwide currency and for the rest of us mere mortals using other currencies its the sum of two pairings) Off you pop fella....out
  5. Sterling certainly held up well since announcement of that rise 44.73 at time of post but heavily aided by weakening of the Baht against the Greenback on opposite side of the pairings right out to 35.22 currently We'll happily take it it I'm sure nonetheless
  6. Spoken like the serious investor I am lol with 37 years of experience Time of post its moved up to 44.79.......lndicative that we could be looking at 0.5% rise rather than 0.25
  7. Today is interest rate decision in the UK and the recent rise in Sterling/Baht up to 44.50 is down to the city traders wholly expecting another 0.25% or 0.5% base points rise here in London Now whilst never set in stone the "buy the rumour sell the news" scenario which will almost certainly come into play tomorrow with a slight dip in the exchange rate Inotherwards if you're happy with 44.50 and who wouldnt be in recent times take the money today ! Course if it bucks the trend and goes to 45 then pound cost average on an exchange and be happy with the 44.75 !! Win win Lose lose if you do nothing and it drops back into the 43's
  8. In light of the OP subsequently stating he'd had the account for couple years than clearly he was red flagged for any myriad of reasons and they wanted to run a check I had similar couple years ago on Revolut after I had used it for some random crypto purchases
  9. I'd say it was the first time using Wise and standards checks were being made because of it
  10. I've literally had long Email threads with them and just this morning have conceded defeat I just cannot get access via apps or websites or verbal confirmation of whats in my account They have been ultra polite I might add (quite impressed that emails have come back quickly Saturdays and Sundays) but literally cant send anymore until I can be 100% sure that all recent transfers have landed correctly 99.9% they will have but I dont want to be at home to Mr C**k up on this one ! (edited in....this scenario has come about solely because of loss of Thai sim access to receive OTP and that was my fault entirely)
  11. Exactly hence the question I just asked above this post
  12. Out if interest is that "Life certificate" sent out routinely to addresses within the UK ??
  13. Indeed Moonlover Whilst you can never rule out banking apps or online access the only time from memory that I've had an issue (ever) with cards/apps etc was a Halifax ATM card cloned almost certainly from the Kasikorn ATM machine that was (or may still be) opposite Alcazar around 2015 Halifax out of interest refunded within 24 hours
  14. Hold the front page...... All is well as normal service resumes after the previous outrageously slow landing time of 17 minutes is banished from the memory ???? 4 seconds this Sunday morning......RBS to Wise to SCB Gross rate of 44.47 Topppp performance Joking aside I'd recommend that people do take advanyage of the current slightly higher rate because its Sterling rising against the USD that is pushing the Sterling/Baht north in anticipation of another interest rate rise here in blighty I suspect after any rise Sterling will dip slightly as traders as always will "buy the rumour sell the news" I'm a great believer in pound cost averging
  15. Yes I came across this closure couple days ago. I had emailed SCB over loss of access to the registered Sim. I had cut it accurately (or so I thought) to refit in phone and clearly in hindsight I had cocked it up lol Quite disturbing when you consider I worked on Nuclear powered Subs in the 1980's for 6 years lol...I digress So in the email I asked about desktop access with the end result that brings about this thread I cant log in at all and not only that with the Debit Card not having been updated to 6 digits pin I cant even whack it in the hole in the wall in the UK to see if it will show the balance No objection to app only but probably with a desktop version would have been able to manage the account before I return to Thailand this Autumn Wanted to add further monies seeing Sterling is highest its been for some time but bit reluctant to add more than what I already have this month without sight of its actually landed (am sure it has lol)
  16. lol I was joking !! I remember as many other will transfers in the 90's taking 3-4 working days and you had no idea if it arrived unless you went in the bank concerned
  17. I'm utterly outraged with Wise despicable behaviour After all my praise of Wise and its lightening speed my transfer this morning took a ludicrous 17 minutes Its not acceptable and Wise are for the chop ???? Pound cost averaging on Sterling working very nicely currently. 8 transfers completed since June 2nd
  18. Wrong on two levels Firstly normally agents will be cheaper than direct via the airline Secondly and this is where so many get it wrong.... When you have an issue you then have available a two pronged attack to rectify it. I use Travel Trolley....I had 2 occasions in the last decade where I had to make changes (on one occasion changing a "unchangeable" outbound date successfully ) TT went out of their way and rectified superbly issues twice that had nothing to do with them Eva and Eithad in the noughties where I had booked direct were a nightmare to deal with on changes. Never ever again would I book direct Notwithstanding that point the airlines holds the contract to transport you once the amadeus booking reference is uploaded and you can go straight to them if you'd rather avoid the agent anyway One of the biggest myths out there is the reasoning behind booking direct with the airline
  19. Wont ever be questioned no matter what you put as its purely for audit control in the event of an investigation Inotherwards "what did this character claim was the reason for the transfer" (when he was in fact money laundering etc)
  20. Again some praise for Wise Whilst I have always used their transfer service I finally ordered one of their debit cards on Sunday, Despite an estimated arrival date of 24th June it came yesterday the Tuesday ! Fair play to them
  21. You could sit here all day and tomorrow and the following day for that matter trying to obtain a better bottom line than using Wise but you wont get one ! Appreciate you didnt ask that question but its the equivalent of dropping a £20 note on the ground and saying sod it I cant be bothered to pick it up HSBC will be the closest you get as a back up but they all fall short for one simple reason. Wise being the only provider that uses full interbank rates
  22. Interestingly and clearly this wont be suitable for all but why not just redirect all post from your previous address when you initially move to Thailand Now I only came across this facility because I had redirected my own (within the UK) but hadnt read the full website I wasnt aware you could redirect overseas as well and whilst its not cheap at £275 a year I cant help thinking it would be useful for many different issues that arise More to the point I wasnt asked for proof of being at my original address when I did my own. Point being you always retain the UK address and whoever moves in would simply have no idea Edited in....as an alternate just use Boatmail which I've mentioned before
  23. Ok whatever. You're moving the goalposts. Remove the word state pension and change it to income. The end result is the same Basic tax exemption code in uk is 1257L (£12,570) Anything over that (outside of tax wrappers) from whatever source gets taxed
  24. No you misunderstand how it works with HMRC....State pension wont normally be taxed at source but forms part of overall income which is subject to tax where applicable
