I have absolutely no idea why they do ! I was upgraded very luckily on Etihad on both sectors London to Bangkok last October. All very fine and nice I totally agree but Biz was 4 times the cost I had paid. Bigger seat china plates food was nice....err thats it I still didnt sleep You gotta be bonkers to pay triple let alone quadruple for a seat that lands 20 metres in front of economy down the runway

Few weeks someone who was in Pattaya for first time aquired a Retirement visa (whatever you want to call it) via one of the agents in Soi Post Office I wont name her but probably most realise who I am referring to He talked it through from start to finish to me......the amount of people involved was simply mind boggling taking a cut of the fees Bangkok Bank, Immigration and many others The new Bangkok bank account was hilarious. It showed in the Bank book a deposit of 800k and withdrawal of 800k When he installed the app it showed in real time the transactions. 800k in and 800k out 2 minutes later When he went to collect his passport when it was completed she asked his name (or one of staff did) and what country he was from She went to chest of drawers which on the outside had Countries different names.......pulled out the British pile which were in alphabetic order. He said it was just unbelievable the amount of passports in there he said at least a 100 in that country pile alone This "route" of agency aquisition is mired in Thai society nobody cares because the people that matter are all getting a bung from top to bottom

Yep agreed Here in the UK "walking around money" is literally only at £1000 limit before Police or Border agency can "ask questions" as to origin (I assure you it is and all forms part of 2002 proceeds of crime act) It would be sensible to assume Thailand has laws about walking around with £22,000 in your sky rocket likewise lol (Edited...probably not lol)

What this thread highlights and have mentioned it a few times this century is that if you do already have a Thai account dont let it lapse through lack of use or low balance because its not easy to open a new one without agent input and costs
