  1. I'm just pleased I got my SCB back up and running via the app Easy for someone to say to me well you should have just updated the app and tried it then. The point was a few months ago the app was the latest version and it was purely by chance that I clicked on the app when deleting data and apps off the phone for resale that the option was requested Notwithstanding my verbal calls to the bank plus multiple emails God forbid if the account was "emptied/hacked" as to what would occur lol
  2. Not even the Thais would be that ludicrous lol Worth checking though I agree that they are accurate prior to turning up to check in
  3. So in summary if you download the app for example on a new phone you'll need to have it set up in branch as I was told Get the option though to update though existing app and its clearly going to work Its quite likely that if I had (and doubtless others) had been told from SCB just update via playstore an existing app it would have worked all along !!
  4. Yesterday was beyond bizarre......I had to go back a few pages to find this relevant thread I wont precis the thread because its all for there to read but like most I had accepted (having previously emailed and verbally spoken to SCB) that bring your phone into the branch next time in Thailnd and they'll set up the app and re establish online banking Fast forward to yesterday and I was deleting apps from a phone (that had original SCB app on) and was going to reset the phone clear the data and sell on Ebay or wherever Clicked on SCB with intention of deleting and up comes different message. Old Android app needs to update blah blah blah ....was about to delete but thought better of it So without deleting original app went into play store found the relevant app at which point its obviously sensing the old app is on the phone and gives me option to "update" lol ......you know whats coming already Takes an age to download the update but eventually it green lights and offers "open" Click on it thinking no this aint happening at the 6 digit passcode is requested Enter the passcode lol and yep in we go !! Opens up as it used to !! There in all its glory !!
  5. lol fella I dont "believe" BS about onward flight scaremongering I like 90% on here know only too well that you simply "can" be offloaded at check in on a one way ticket and no visa All staff from airline ground handling know it only too well Thats the rules not scare mongering fella. Now thats not to say you didnt get away with it (without an onward ticket) but absolutely by the book you're offloaded....Period until you sort the issue I simply do not accept that the other fella got away with it 15 times. He didnt.....and nor have you either Out.... (Edited to add who the hell is stupid enough to even take a chance on it in the first place with the maximum airline fine now up to $10,000 and watching like a hawk !!)
  6. So to be clear (and erring on the side of caution) you have checked in with ground handling on at least 15 occasions with no visa and on a one way ticket and absolutely no one has batted an eyelid... They happily sent you on your way with them knowing that previously the airline was on offer for a potential $2000 "immigration decline" fine and currently that having been increased to $10,000..... Just want to check on my facts before the next line.... Boll****
  7. The reason (and most people wont be aware) for the increased "interest" from the airlines is that fines to carriers (to any destination) have increased now five fold up to a maximum of $10,000 for an "immigration decline" plus the obvious cost of having to immediately fly you back to the original destination Whether at check in thats visas, available cash to satisfy immigration if asked or this practice of "onward tickets" the airline are taking quite rightfully closer interest Those "onwards tickets" are getting closer and closer examination. Read any of the flyer forums to see how many are putting themselves at peril at check in of being offloaded and then being forced to buy a proper ticket at huge expense on the spot Those fines add up to the carriers and they dont want them obviously
  8. Well thats where Business class should have been utilised Or pay for 3 economy seats to go sideways to keep the leg raised Eva could hardly be expected to take out a row of economy seats without payment and then provide a stool to get the leg raised
  9. Whilst I had applied for SETV rather than multiple (on a 5 month trip) I put on the application form 59 days and only had a one way ticket as well uploaded to them That wasnt queried at all Put the real date of eventual departure but I suspect its of no consequence From what others were saying the online application form covers all types of visa and some questions left me scratching my head at one point as to appearing irrelevant
  10. I'm pretty sure that if you wait until online check in opens you'll be able to select seats together anyway Thats how most airlines work Eva will be 3-4-3 so there will be 2 non "premium" seats on centre section together Or simply get to check in slightly earlier than you would normally so you're there when it opens and speak "nicely" to ground handling Eva and all the rest will happily ram customers over seat selection fees if they can get away with it and clearly do
  11. @transam Our boy very active here................. Must have missed this thread before !!
  12. I'll not name the poster as it'll get removed but dont forget that one individual on the thread has had at least 50/60 usernames since I've been on here 18 years ago and always eventually throws his toys outa the pram
  13. Its certainly weakening out against the benchmark USD but still well under what it was one year ago
  14. Thanks for all responses it was interesting that everyone kept to the exact subject and didnt wander off on to different services to view ITV I used to use TVMucho but if a VPN works (and I already had Surfshark) than clearly no point subscribing Out of interest an enormous back catalogue of programmes on that ITVX very impressive
  15. lol you clearly have no idea of the power of Twitter as regards financials I can assure you that if it was even $100 a month all those I'm involved with would pay it 1000% Nobody buy nobody would want to be on the outside.
  16. Unfortunately I will need to subscribe whatever it costs Too much work income comes effectively via twitter in a roundabout route He'll probably pitch it around $15 I reckon
  17. Thanks guys thats pretty definitive re Surfshark
  18. Any of you guys accessing the site within Thailand via using Surfshark VPN ?? I know technically I could turn it on whilst still in the UK and if it runs (it does) then it "should" run within Thailand Experience with other VPN's within Thailand down the years have been hit and miss and cant be relied upon
  19. Lot of people having Covid boosters where I live in the UK Already had the nurse boning me on the trumpet after I had reasons to ring them last week
  20. Utterly bizarre overall Kinda explains though the general state of 95% of all farangs around Pattaya who dont exercise Reminds me of Dean Wormer to Flounder in Animal House
  21. Would have to disagree with that entirely and its not often I do so in your direction lol I would use a swimming pool daily 24/7 If I had a balcony I would be eating breakfast on it daily likewise Not everyone remotely wants to be sitting at bars at 10am
  22. Exactly Albeit once you've done it once and know exactly whats acceptable it will be much much easier next time
  23. It certainly was. Simple application form sent off to Cardiff Consulate along with passport which normally came back within 3-4 days Could be argued that the current set up is actually marginally cheaper because you're not enclosing a special delivery envelope for its return which they insisted on and also the recorded delivery cost of sending it to Cardiff in the first place Also if you remember they wanted Postal Order rather than a cheque for payment
  24. As far back as 2006 I signed an indemnity at Gatwick on Emirates after they were refusing me travel because I was using a return portion of a ticket originally out of Bangkok (so effectively now a one way ticket) with no tourist visa in advance I was incredibly close to be offloaded that day and I think it was because I was dressed reasonably nicely and spoke politely in asking to speak to Emirates head of station who authorised me signing that indemnity If I had been wearing T shirt and shorts that day I doubt I would have flown So there's history out there that signing an indemnity is certainly a possibility if the shight is hitting the fan at check in
