You should have received the letter from the US embassy for immigration when your passports were returned. It only took me about 15 minutes at immigration when I had my stamps transfered to the new passport a few months ago.

About 9 years ago at Nakhon Pathom immigration for some reason the bank dated it a day earlier without me noticing. When I went to immigration they would not accept it. I had to go back and get a new letter. Ever since that I have always done it on the same day and doubled checked the date on the letter.

There was an article several years ago stating that up to 50% of the agriculture in Thailand was owned by Chinese nationals using Thai Nominees.
