  1. I don’t think the airline industry bosses are going to be happy about being dictated to by a third world country that is run by idiots.
  2. Hi, if , for example the UK asked for Covid test for entry into UK on your return from Thailand, then you must have Covid covered insurance. I don’t think UK do. Their explaining of this is, IF you caught Covid in Thailand , you would miss your flight/ or be hospitalized obliging you to stay longer in Thailand and costing you more money. Wow, I don’t think they have a brain between them !!! It will probably be printed properly in the next few days.
  3. None of you have understood the article correctly !! Pattaya is the No 2 dirtiest beach in the world. So any ideas which is no 1 dirtiest please ?
  4. What I don’t understand is that China has opened its borders ? Surely they also have a lot to loose if all those 1.4 billion + inhabitants risk getting sick ? Or is it a way of “ natural” extermination?
  5. A British doctor in China (on tv a few days ago) said that there were enormous numbers of Covid infections and that doctors and hospitals were overflowing . Now if this happens again, in Thailand or the other third world countries, there’s a lot of misery to come. Haven’t we learnt from the past 3 years ? Do we really need another serious Covid epidemic? And is it really so bad to insist on vaccinations ( the new ones ) and testing for travelers ? ( obviously not for people who cannot for medical reasons). Doesn’t bother me one bit.
  6. I could understand the governments fondness of Chinese visitors, but the ones you see all over Thailand are rude, noisy, filthy habits and pushy ! These are cheap tours that stink out Thai towns with tour buses , and crowd the airports , pavements and malls, even the 7/11s. They are not the ones that go to my local designer shops and spend 4000€ on a handbag. They do not get carried round in stinking buses ( which are not allowed in urban areas anyway) and in general behave . Groups are often refused in nice restaurants , I always remember a table of 6 Chinese in a good restaurant where the “ guide” asked the proprietor for a tip for bringing them there. They were quickly shown the door. I for one will keep out of their way if they return to a mass tourist invasion of Thailand or elsewhere.
  7. This was already reported before Christmas and the lady in question has been arrested. Awaiting more news.
  8. So someone of high rank facing bribery charges ( and what else?) is automatically moved to work in the Prime Ministers office ??
  9. Take into account there may be departure / arrivals delays.Just go,for a nice tea or B Fast / dinner at Novotel. That way you are back at the airport in 15 mins if need be. I would not risk going into the city just for a chat.
  10. Makes me wonder what the 8 businesses on Phuket are . Last March I heard that people were talking . Lots of bad ones there.
  11. Hi all, my friends have really liked The Rabbit Resort, well situated for them too. They’re going for 15 days in March .. Thanks for all the suggestions. Merry Christmas to all.
  12. Hi, actually spent a long time there myself, a few years. Loved it. My friends need a hotel with breakfast . By the way, do you know if the above is still having dust and noise problems due to the massive condo they’re building ? Is it finished ?? I moved away from the area because of it.
  13. So, in the kitchen of the hotel they probably have 10 litre bottles of washing up liquid , and also large bottles of sweetener .Someone inexperienced filled the sweetener table bottles with washing up liquid. Mystery solved ?? What I didn’t know was that hôtels/ restaurants etc used liquid sweetener .Never seen this anywhere.
  14. Hi, unfortunately by the look of the reviews, I think the Grand Jomtien has gone the way of many Thai hotels, probably not helped by Covid closures.
  15. Hi, had a look on all the booking sites, seems an awful lot of negative reviews of it’s being run down. I had thought of that one but couldn’t remember the name. Thanks.
  16. No, good area too, I think the son lives near Rompor fresh market too. Thanks, sent off.
  17. Just looked at Rabbit resort. Forgot about that one as I rarely walk up that road. Looks very nice, I think they’d like the Thai deco , I’m sure they know the restaurant too. Also, very well situated. I visited Royal Cliff a few years ago , but you have to rely on taxis there. Also can be very crowded with group tours. I’ve sent my friends Rabbit Resort address. They’ll know the area . Thanks.
  18. Oh dear, don’t you think I’ve already looked ? And I think you are slightly exaggerating. 100 ? In Jomtien ? I’ve lived there for the last 8 yrs so must be walking around blind ! I was asking 4/5 stars not your evaluation. Thankfully the other replies have been helpful .
  19. Hi, I have friends coming over in March and they’d like a very good hotel with pool in Jomtien. They’ve rented a condo before for 2 months so know and like the area. Also, easy access to their son and Pattaya if needed. They do not want Pattaya as will be eating in their favorite Jomtien restaurants most night. And beach doesn’t interest them. I’m lost for ideas ? I think they’re hoping for 4/5 stars, and I don’t think there are any. Thanks. pS staying only 2 weeks.
  20. I suggest you read his post again. You totally misunderstood .
  21. Im a female, and I have the view that any marriage based on money from the beginning is rarely a good idea. The respect, on both sides, is gone. These sinsod ideas are archaic . I once had a boyfriend who thought my hard earned money was to be shared with him ! Needless to say, he didn’t last long. Once married I see nothing wrong in the husband helping the wife’s family, or buying her a house. But it should come from him, not asked for.
  22. It might have triggered questions that you did not give the boarding pass of your departure flight, which they usually like to know ?? You say from » Europe » sounds a little bit cloak and dagger. You did also mention that your visa wasn’t done in your home country , so maybe a few reasons there for a more thorough questioning., Otherwise, some IO officers are more difficult than others , as is all over the world .
  23. That happened to me a few months back. My bank stopped my platinum card as it had been used in the US somewhere. That card I use for airline traveling only and hadnt used in ages due to Covid., Yhe card was in a safe place, and I never use my phone or email for banking.. Obvious answer for me was that the bank itself had been compromised. Which they would not admit.
  24. Well,I’ve seen plenty white white people in Thailand , and all over the world. It only strikes me as I think it must be hard for them in the sun. Otherwise , no interest in anyones colour.
