Bangkok Building Collapse Sets Unwanted World Records
Presnock replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Yeah wonder since they have boy scouts and girl scouts and I thought the motto was "be Prepared" which means you must study the past and present to be prepared for whatever but guess that is sorta like "preventive maintenance" that we see the misunderstanding of so oftern IMHO -
You forgot they are a BRICS partner country now, cozy up to the Chinese always, but during the VN war, allowed US to base troops on Thailand and the rest are sorta like most other countries. IMHO

I also read "Nomad Capitalist" magazine and today they have an article about the 7 cheapest retirement with benefits countries and Thailand is their number one choice! I tend to agree as I retired here over 20 years ago and still love it as paradise! Great food and cheap. Lots of different areas to live in, beach, city, country. Read about the soft soil around Bangkok and high-rise buildings though once you decide what kind of environment you wish to live in.

to do the monthly deposit methoyou need 12 consecutive months of at least 65K Thai baht and then you can change from the 800K or 400K whichever you have at that time unless your embassy does provide the income letter. -
I probably should have paid the money.

I would not have sat there and put up with someone coming to my child's party and then trying to take over the party. I would have advised her that everything she ordered after what I had arranged would be paid by her as her gift to my child if she continued with her plan. -
Trump Starts Global Tariff Wall, Thailand Hit with 36% Tax

And the time to get permits, contracts for building and even the supplies needed to build a manufacturing plant. It couldn't be done in Trump's term even if someone had the funds to do it - maybe Musk but I bet he doesn't do it either as his fortune now is drying up at a fast rate. So much so that now Trump is telling his close advisors that Musk will be gone shortly! -

Well, most of his followers continue to believe every lie he puts out daily even when proof of the lying is there for all to see or hear. But he learned that if one continues putting out the lie, many of them will continue to believe him even when the lie is totally ridiculosu -I will end the Russian-Ukraine War on day 1, I will lower food prices the first day I am in office and the list goes on! Just like the SIGNAL chat - now saying it was just fake news made up by a crummie magazine. -

I realize that Trump is acting as if he is already a King of the country but Congress can still affect a lot of what he continues to do as almost all of it is illegal according to the constitution and I think that now Congress sees the demonstrations throughout the country and even congress people are waking up to a possible being able to contol some things. Who knows...not me for sure! -

That is illegal. As a US citizen living overseas and FATCA, one is required through the local Thai bank to also file a IRS form 7 with the FATCA "I am a US cit" and you are required to give your Thailand address as well as to file the yearly FBAR report if you have a foreign bank acct. -

How can he cut out SS for retirees living overseas? US citizens working and living overseas have and continued receive and/or pay SS taxes every year. I believe that Congress would not allow that as they too would lose votes. IMHO only of course as I am not eligible for SS so haven't paid a lot of attention to it. -

Yeah heard one analyst estimate that it will probably take a decade for all to settle down and the US consumer (if still around at all) can then begin to "reap the rewards" in any from the Trump tariff scheme! He inherits a basically booming economy compared to much of the world, and immediately has destroyed that plus all the retirement funds people had been basing them on their 501 market funds. Sad for those folks because at the rate thngs are trending in the US today, Social Security may just fold too! I sure hope I am wrong. -

But he also made many ridiculous promises which the Magaites and others bought too and many voted for Trump because of his opponent - fair since that was how Trump won the first time around. The Dems were so $#%#$%ing stupid as to put Harris on the ballot. Now, there will not be a seeable solution until 2028 IMO. -

With China IMHO, any trade deal they make with Thailand will result in the same manner, Thailand will be inundated with cheap, poor quality merchandise and will in turn send no extra merchandise to China at competitive costs. We that have been here for any length of time have seen exactly that many times yet the Thai leaders with Chinese ancestors always seem to be willing to sign up to poor trade agreements for the Thais and usually within a short period of time there are complaints from the competing local merchants and arrests of Chinese owned businesses doing unfair pratices. This whole scheme of Trump has already affected the value of the dollar and unless the Thai baht is weakened, anyone getting dollars for baht will lose out IMHO. -

IMHO as a novice in world trade affairs, what this seems to be to me is a shot in the arm so to speak for the BRICS countries. This will probably change some minds on whether to join the BRICS permanently or to continue waiting for BRICS to strengthen. Just my opinion but I really don't think ANY country will ever trust America until all Trumpers are out of politics in the US. Even then, with their "new" trading partners, they will probably hesitate for years to see if the US can ever be trusted again. -

only if you have a female body like hers IMHO or do like many others who are a lot less attractive. You would just have to cater to a different group or work harder. -
Supposedly a new Co pay "rule" for Thai Health Insurers
Presnock replied to topt's topic in Insurance in Thailand
when you go to a hospital./doctor's office for any treatment, as well as having a set rate for whatever treatment agreed originally with the doctor and insurance company, you the patient will be required to pay a part of the cost of the treatment. Some people noted above that if you had their policy with co-pay possibly, and the treatment was a serious illness requiring hospital stays, then you might not have a co-payment, it would all depend on you insurance coverage and like I said, an insurance company sets those amounts inconjunction with the hospital/doctors' office. My particular insurance company sends me a brochure on line (15-20 pages long stating what coverage for whatever type of illness/injury and the co-pay for certain treatments. Just another way to get a little more of your money. IMHO A least in the US the costs have sky rocketed so to speak so that in the near future for sure, no one will be able to afford a house (already affecting millions), a car after the tariffs, normal folk won't be able to afford a down payment so will take 10 years or more to pay it off, and then medical and pharmaceutical costs will only be done with the really rich folks! -
Yeah I agree with your last statement we have enough %$#@s already IMHO
-
especially this government IMHO. Those "friendly" nations to the north and south are ceasing to feel secure about the US and can't blame them!
