Driver Dies in Multi-Car Collision in Nonthaburi Parking Lot
Presnock replied to Georgealbert's topic in Bangkok News
Yeah, but he could have gotten that many years prior and even once learning he suffered from this, could just not told the local govt when he got a renewal. Scary anyway as here one can get away with all kinds of violations of local laws very easily it seems. -
world wide income taxation update
Presnock replied to Presnock's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
yeah, but I don't worry about that as I just consider it as anything else on this forum, BTW as I mentioned I do worry about the current tax situation here but if they change the tax laws IAW the commen by Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat on 10 January, that they are studying "negative income tax which REQUIRES EVERYONE in the country , regardless of income level, to file personal income tax." Then, even with exemptions, each of us might have to get a Tax ID number and the tax forms here. Then I will follow those new rules.... https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/general/2936711/panel-seeks-reform-tax-structure-state-welfare-system -
Well I don't know about other countries govt but the US OPM who pays my pension provides yearly as ell as monthly documentaton of my annuity and my stateside bank provides me with a monthly message stating from what office my pension was received. So if necessarfy I can easily provide a copy of those as I keep them for my tax records of at leat 5 years.

This has been batted back and forth from single page day - In trd english, it states rule #1 obtaining a Thai tax id number in order to file taxes here, one must do so within 60 days of remitting/having assessable income in Thailand. I do not nor will I have any assessable income by definition so I cannot supposedly obtain a tax id number without possibly fighting for it so I will not since like I said I don't have ny assessable income here - Ionly have a US government civil service pension whick can only be taxed in the US and not elsewhere through the DTA between Thailand and the US (and possibly other countries too but I don't read other countries as nothing there pertains to me and my situation. Unless there is other changes to the tax Act, I also have an LTR which was advertized as not being taxed on my "foreign" income. So, based on these documents, my feeling is that I cannot nor should I ever get a tax id locally unless the Thai/or US govt changes their interpretation of the tax law. Once that happens and the revenue department advises me and the public of these changes (just he notification from these offices could take years based on this year's notices) and says that ALL foreigners must obtain a tax ID and file the correct tax forms, then I will consider my options.

world wide income taxation update
Presnock replied to Presnock's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
khunHeineken - another one to ignore for sure. Poeple just do not undertand that this is an opinion form where each of us can expressour thoughts on any subject, i.e. the world wide banking or local taxes or whatever when for sure, Pichai and Co. just seem to be holding back. GUess some powerful people in the parliament don'l like that idea. Maybe it will go along with the negative tax rate where those paying more will donate to the poorer ones. still express my opinion on this subject although I won'tbe affected due to my income and the LTR visa. Anyway hope allhave a great weekend and enjoy the "cool" weather. -
Does Trump completely lack decency and compassion?

Yes I agree but seeing those intl articles being disseminated at the same time that the proposed ACT of the 15% corporate tax obviously from the text, included the worldwide income tax to begin also at the beginning of 2025 but as we know, the worldwide was scrapped and only the corporate tax became the approved Act. I guess they will continue working out the details of the next tax scheme which will either be separate or inclusive of the negative tax and worldwide income taxation but who knows how long that will take and seeing Pichai in the news so often where he absolutely says nothing of any real substance drives me bonkers even though I realize that nothing that they come up with will affect me financially, but in the future may impact my wife and daughter so am interested in that respect. I do appreciate your willingness to continue answering the same questions from so many AN users that just haven't kept up with the tax issues over the past 2 years or so. Take care and good luck.

for CM - not sure if you read my two articles reported by the ASEAN news and the African news: these two organizations reporrted to their readers , one on 16 Dec and the other on 19 Dec and it was about that new ACT on taxation including in their articles, that the 15% corporate tax was in effect and that the new worldwide income tax was also in effect a this was the act being passed by the parliament and it meant according to both news agencies, that the Thai govt wanted to implement both the 15% tax and worldwide income tax by 1 January of 2025 but then, I guess some folkks within the parliament did not agree on the worldwide implementaion on 1 January, only the corporate tax. I can only believe that the finance people indicated to these international news agencies that the Act would be passed in total. I continue to watch for any retractions or changes to their stories. In any case, it does appear that soe folks want the worldwide income tax to fit in with the negative tax program favored by Tak... it seems. We'll see and hear maybe something soon but even today Pichai talks longwinded but hardly says anything new. Have a good one...

Like I said earlier, within the trd english version there is a lot about the "tax Paid" certificate to exit the country or extend one's stay so it would not be any problem for the revenue folks to pass to immigration once again, the need for an expat to have that certificate for any immigration exit or extension of stay. The link for the Thai revenue dept has been put on this forum numerous times so just google it.

when I was applying for my LTR and submitted several pages of the current insurance for over seas customers, it stated that for hospitalization the coverage was "unlimited" but BOI wouldn't accept that and I asked the insurance company for an email stating that the coverage was at" least 50K USD for hositalizaton" and the insurance co wrote back immediatey that very quote. Also as it is a govt sponsored insurance co, there is no end of policiy written until one leaves and they explained that too in the letter so the BOI put the expiration date 10 years from the beginning of the visa. WIth those insurance questions satisfied, it took 2 weeks to get final approval.

sometimes many exchanges sometimes quiet. Literally thousands have taken advantage of this visa - they cut the price by 50%, now only 50,000 and like they say 10 years, no 90-day reports, can go in and out of country as you please. Can do everything literally from your own computer without having to go to banks or get any other documents. Just upload to the BOI and their staff are really helpful. Some feel they are too demanding, but they only need certain data that the screeners can pass to those approving them. For mine earlier last year, less than 3 weeks to get it! I believe those that have it think it is the best for the least cost. Fits me to a tee so to speak.

Health Insurance in Thailand After Leaving Employment
Presnock replied to Globenauta's topic in Insurance in Thailand
Yeah I was a civil service employee and had one of the govt insurance co. so kept that as I retired, expensive as I have never used it for myself or wife but daughter did have some event...price keeps going up but soon daughter will depart from that policy and then wife and I can basically cut the price in half. Daughter will be yuoung though so cheaper policy anyway. Not sure if Trump & co. want to change any of these benefits to save money .. -
