I suspect you're not familiar with UK law, so here's some help:

I wrote "jailed for life" - i.e. a life sentence. I understand that his age is likely to prevent a whole life term, like with Jamie Bulger's killers who I referred to.
I would expect so. It's mandatory for murder. I guess there might some hope of future release bearing in mind his age (see Jamie Bulger's murderers) but in the current climate I would say, and hope, life will be life.
