  1. Well said. I think many people here have very limited contact with normal Thai people!
  2. If a teacher is employed by a language school for online teaching (from the teacher's home), would the Extension of Stay and work permit be issued by the Immigration Office where the school is based, or by the Office in the province where the teacher lives?
  3. Well said. Guys who try to rip off working girls isn't acceptable, no matter what the service is.
  4. We're spending a few days on Koh Larn and need to leave our car near Bali Hai pier. Where is the best, most secure parking? Thanks.
  5. "Thailand’s sex industry has employed thousands of people for decades, even though soliciting, procuring or operating brothels are all prohibited under the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act of 1996." So does the new bill propose legalising soliciting, procuring and operating brothels?
  6. How would a returning expat, in his mid-60s, with a 10-year-old child (UK citizen but only ever lived in Thailand) be treated, assuming he has minimal savings (£50,000) and a meagre pension?
  7. I don't think there's any doubt that Thailand (like most of the developed world) is rapidly moving towards a cashless society. Even the street food stalls outside my son's school take payment by QR Code/phone. People will just have to get used to it - like I did!
  8. I've used http://www.pulse-tv.net for many years. I have a box, but I know others who watch via the website. Not the cheapest, but reliable.
  9. Maybe I was a little overblown. "Callous" and all things stated above by @RuamRudy
  10. Plenty of people have changed the reason for their Extension of Stay from being based on Work to being based on Retirement at their Immigration Office in Thailand (as long as they meet the requirements).
  11. Thank goodness for the Courts. Time for this evil government to go.
  12. WRLife are very competitive and becoming quite popular with expats here. Search this Forum and you'll find mixed opinions, but so far, no examples of any major issues. https://www.wrlife.net/
  13. Yes. They have to (or should) leave Thailand on the passport they entered on. But they can then enter on their new Thai passport. Unless I'm missing something! @sirineou's option is worth looking at too.
  14. As @problemfarang says, it's possible but certainly not easy, and requires cooperation and coordination from both employers. If they're in different provinces, it will be even harder! Far easier to get a new visa. Surely the new school can give you a few days off to get it sorted?
  15. What passport do they hold? Easiest option is to enter visa exempt (if their passport allows this) which gives them 30 days (extendable by another 30) to get their Thai passport. Then they just need to do a border run, leaving on the foreign passport, and re-entering as a Thai citizen.
  16. There's no longer a requirement for an Embassy letter for UK passports renewed in Thailand either.
  17. I wonder if there was any rock/pop star in the the 1960s, 70s & 80s who didn't sleep with teenage groupies?
  18. If his Aussie passport is his first, he'll need to show his Thai birth certificate when departing Thailand. He can return to Thailand visa exempt as an Australian citizen but he'll be 'overstaying' once the 30 days is up. Not a huge issue for a kid, as he cannot be fined or banned for overstaying, but if he leaves Thailand on that passport it will be stamped as 'overstay'. If he attends an international school here, they may insist that he's not on overstay. Of course, if you can get his Thai passport sorted, it will solve a lot of problems!
  19. Good to see some unnecessary bureaucracy being done away with. Another saving for the UK tax payer ????
  20. You won't regret it!
  21. Other than on the initial application, I've never had to do this for my son's schools.
  22. That's certainly her public line now. But "if" something were to happen to rule Biden out of the race, they would need to act fast to avoid getting stuck with Kamala Harris. Michelle might the only way to pacify those who feel the replacement has to be a woman of colour. She'll be persuaded, when her country needs her.
  23. He's a vaccine-denier conspiracy theorist for a start!
