  1. I always use E20 as it was recommended by the manufacturer.
  2. Not if your visa is still valid; however, in practice most visas have a limited period of validity. Once the visa is no longer valid, you don't need to carry the old passport. .Not to be confused with Extension of Stay stamps (not visas) which can and need to be transferred by Immigration to the new passport.
  3. The letter is no longer issued and is no longer required.
  4. Hopefully the backlash (and the forthcoming election) means it will never go through. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/dec/17/legal-action-planned-over-uk-cruel-income-threshold-visa-rules
  5. I asked a similar question earlier - but perhaps not surprisingly, no answer!
  6. Christmas is about 'giving' gifts, not receiving them. Don't be such a Scrooge!
  7. Can you provide details? Was it from U-Tapao and how much was it (one-way or return)? Cheers.
  8. Not likely to be any seatbelts in the back of a pick-up!
  9. So everyone in Chiang Mai is going to die from the dust? Chiang Mai has horrendous air quality at certain times of the year - it's not too bad at the moment. But Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin and pretty much everywhere in the North/East all have it as well. We're all going to die!
  10. At least your cousin had the jab and therefore survived Covid, twice.
  11. Absolutely, although the number has dropped dramatically since Covid. I've met some lovely Lao girls in gogos and bars all over Bangkok and Pattaya - and had to bail some of them out of jail, when they got picked up in a raid. Obviously, there were and still are many underage girls too (including underage Lao girls) and they all make a bolt for the exits when the warning sounds.
  12. Or Lao/Cambodian/Vietnamese girls.
  13. "Amazing Thailand" indeed. If the pollution doesn't get you, the unhealthy food and appalling driving is likely to! Maybe, it's just worth the risk for many.
  14. Plenty of people wearing masks in urban areas too, both on and off motorbikes. But, as has already been pointed out, this was common pre-Covid and is currently recommended because of the pollution.
  15. Correct. Many aspects of prostitution are illegal in Thailand (e.g. soliciting, running a brothel, underage) but the act of paying for sex itself is not illegal. In fact, it's been part of Thai culture for centuries and still is!
  16. True. I wonder if a Future Forward PM would be any different? One would hope so.
  17. Always worth reading up on the famous Big Ass case... Ekarat Wongcharat, the leading vocal of Big Ass, made the headlines when a 17 year old model nicknamed "Fai" appeared with her baby "Justin" and claimed that Wongcharat was the baby's father in February 2006. Allegedly they had sex when Fai was 16 years old, meaning that Wongcharat would be a child sex offender if the accusation was true. Wongcharat was subsequently arrested and released on bail on 27 February. While Wongcharat gave his blood sample for DNA testing in March, Fai and Justin did not give theirs until early May. On 10 May 2006 police announced that the result was negative. A retest performed by Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunand drew the same conclusion. Even through he is not the child's father, the trial for the underage sex offense remained. The trial began on 13 February 2007 and the court decision was announced on 21 March 2007. He received two years of a suspended and must produce two anti-drug songs as pledged by the singer in exchange for a light sentence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Ass
  18. Teenagers having sex with teenagers is one thing. If you think it's legal for an adult to have sex with a 15-year-old, especially with a "bar girl" which suggests prostitution, you're going to need a very good lawyer!
  19. It's not as simple as that! If he had the girl's parents permission and they were to be married, he might get away with it. But if not, it's 18.
