  1. A welcome change of mind: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/dec/21/home-office-reduces-earning-threshold-hike-for-family-visa
  2. As @Tony M suggests, can we see the redacted refusal notice? It might be very useful to other BMs in a similar position.
  3. The Tories are backtracking: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/dec/21/home-office-reduces-earning-threshold-hike-for-family-visa
  4. Where are all the death penalty advocates? Hmmm.
  5. I always use E20 as it was recommended by the manufacturer.
  6. Not if your visa is still valid; however, in practice most visas have a limited period of validity. Once the visa is no longer valid, you don't need to carry the old passport. .Not to be confused with Extension of Stay stamps (not visas) which can and need to be transferred by Immigration to the new passport.
  7. The letter is no longer issued and is no longer required.
  8. Hopefully the backlash (and the forthcoming election) means it will never go through. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/dec/17/legal-action-planned-over-uk-cruel-income-threshold-visa-rules
  9. I asked a similar question earlier - but perhaps not surprisingly, no answer!
  10. Christmas is about 'giving' gifts, not receiving them. Don't be such a Scrooge!
  11. Can you provide details? Was it from U-Tapao and how much was it (one-way or return)? Cheers.
  12. Not likely to be any seatbelts in the back of a pick-up!
  13. So everyone in Chiang Mai is going to die from the dust? Chiang Mai has horrendous air quality at certain times of the year - it's not too bad at the moment. But Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin and pretty much everywhere in the North/East all have it as well. We're all going to die!
  14. At least your cousin had the jab and therefore survived Covid, twice.
  15. Absolutely, although the number has dropped dramatically since Covid. I've met some lovely Lao girls in gogos and bars all over Bangkok and Pattaya - and had to bail some of them out of jail, when they got picked up in a raid. Obviously, there were and still are many underage girls too (including underage Lao girls) and they all make a bolt for the exits when the warning sounds.
  16. Or Lao/Cambodian/Vietnamese girls.
  17. "Amazing Thailand" indeed. If the pollution doesn't get you, the unhealthy food and appalling driving is likely to! Maybe, it's just worth the risk for many.
  18. Plenty of people wearing masks in urban areas too, both on and off motorbikes. But, as has already been pointed out, this was common pre-Covid and is currently recommended because of the pollution.
  19. Correct. Many aspects of prostitution are illegal in Thailand (e.g. soliciting, running a brothel, underage) but the act of paying for sex itself is not illegal. In fact, it's been part of Thai culture for centuries and still is!
