  1. They wanted my address at time of taking out the policy and was already on the way but good point
  2. Exactly , and no preconditions and then you have one claim and then it becomes one and the premiums would rise substantially.
  3. Yes, indeed and the local hospital which I stayed in for 4 days was cheap but not a too serious issue. Put in to contest and yes my Thai family have tried several times to get me on their policy and yes we provide a home and look after the general expenses but of course this is never taken in to account but it should The financials must be in place. However , even Thais who have a policy and I knew someone who had gallstones and was serious, the local hospital did not cater for this and had to go to the city and you know what her policy did not cover this and 300k baht see had to pay!! Indeed those who maybe have to go back to the UK it is not necessary one is covered, despite decades of paying the NI contributions but have to be there a certain length of time. Crazy eh paying in to the NHS system but not allowed to use it.
  4. Travel insurance is just that and though I was covered until the first year of renewal and then told you have to be in the uk for 5/6 months of the year and of course asked queried and no joy.
  5. Yes agreed but the Thais and their ex-pat partners still have to come back here with insurance and other conditions also, unless going for good!!!
  6. drjack54 LOL it is me and everything seems so complicated these days and yes the rules seem to change on all topics too. You really have to laugh these days.
  7. I have been showing my bank book after 3/4 months after renewing and a couple since but at another Immigration office and they like to see some deposits and got my normal expenses account and don't draw on the other.
  8. Am I missing something if you go out of the country you definately need an re-entry permit and surely you can not then apply for an exempt visa on return to Thailand together with insurance!!
  9. On the face of it great news but do not forget the UK Citizens returning to Thailand for instance would be subjected to strict Covit medical insurance and very costly and not sure if the Thais are covered and know covered in Thailand. Families could still be split up. Or am I missing something and as UK citizens we not entitled to medical care , even though paid our dues for 40 or 50 years and yes travel insurance for Thais?
  10. EXACTLY but in the main but have heard some in the UK also!!!
  11. Oh I have seen posters but not replied and apologies to you and yes you must love Thailand as see many of your great posts.
  12. Bertbloggs I certainly won't as many State pensioners here in Thailand receive a frozen pension meaning many have had not one penny increase but there are a fair few who will get it as use an UK address but what happens every 2 years when proof of still alive, the same. Not stating you do this but it happens and people playing by the rules do get penalised. Same as many other issues and the growing minority around the world have this attitude "I will do what I like" and ongoing for decades.
  13. So did you give an address in the UK and you realise Thailand pensioners are frozen???
  14. Wonder if you got round about getting the annual indexation but did you have to supply your address here and you realise it is disgustingly frozen!!!
  15. Dr Jack That was my understanding indeed and been reading posts on here stating do not get a re-enty permit but surely along with insurance. One word of caution and slightly off topic but several years a go I knew a person who was renewing his extension based on being married to a Thai and the local bank stated the money in account was in his name only and they sent it to Bangkok but got a message stating that it was not indeed just in his own name and stated he would have to start all over from outside Thailand ie a non o extension!
  16. Won't you have to start all over again and a non o from start or have I missed something? and surely one needs an reentry permit?
  17. superrai Wonderful post and my family have tried several times for me to be included on the family health policy and no joy at all. Yes they do not take that you supply and keep your wonderful Thai family and provide them with a home and yes some members of family,(though not wife) but sisters and brothers work at the local hospital and that definately not included. Yes, very strange and yes provided for them and yes we wanted to as well but surely something could be done and this has been mentioned by many people before and takes nothing in account of property provided but believe the Thais have to prove that it is their own money. Yeah how exactly
  18. Wow Worgeordie Yes well aware of your posts and wow 35 years and the lead post 4 my Ego very similar to me. I came here with my Thai wife in 2008 aged 58 and like so many others got made redundant a few times so we decided to come here and my dear wife was missing her family and close friends. Yes even at that time the UK was getting in a bad state and thought go for it as though I was not negative but society was even then Yes built property here and yes have really enjoyed the experience but certainly did not have pots of gold and yes 4 MYEgo relied on my savings until my then state pension age in 2015 but it is a bit of a struggle what with a frozen state pension. I have absolutely no home in the UK and just about no family but a few close friends. This Thai pass although linked to tourists and returnees but what happens to us and say wanting to go on a trip to say Cambodia and yes in the past just a reentry stamp but now do we need this Corvit insurance as ordinary medical insurance is not required. Does it affect the present extension and maybe best to travel, if we can just in Thailand. No regrets but as so many stated what happens when the money dries up but we can only do the best we can and enjoy each day as it comes. Of course so many around the world struggling and here the situation far from certain.
  19. Not sure how that would work and tried my local immigration office and just gave me mobile telephone number but would only want to say one Asean country ie Cambodia and how would Thai Pass work then and normally a reentry on extension based on retirement for which no insurance is required Would I have to get Covit 19 insurance and of course my Thai wife is covered on the family insurance. It is basically for visitors and returnees and wish it was less complicated. Yes makes no difference if one support our Thai families and such a shame we providing most of the funds but not allowed on the family insurance policy But that is another subjedt.
  20. Way back and several years ago I got travel insurance and no mention that one had to stay 5 or 6 months in the UK until it was time for renewal. Best stay here in Thailand but even then restricted to go to other Provinces and yes a little self insurance but even with a policy and with no preceding conditions, but once you have this and then excluded from next renewal
  21. Yes being main providers and monies spent on their homes but somehow the Thais have to prove it is theirs re the funds and of course in their names.
  22. Many have absolutely nothing at home or relatives so the streets for many?
