Kind of sounds a little like they're concerned about the rising number of jobless and homeless people and what that says about Thailand's economy. As a result, they want to get rid of the symptoms rather than solve the problem. Stop giving money to beggars, they go away or die, people can't see how many people are living in poverty in Thailand. Sorted!

People’s Party Surge: 84% Would Vote Today, Poll Reveals
BangkokReady replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How would that happen if they were isolated and being fed lies? They could be convinced that the protestors are the bad guys who want to harm good innocent Thais. Think about it. -

Amazing that you can be attacked and seriously injured, but you still need the help of some sort of pressure group to get the police to do anything. -

It's not impossible. It's actually quite easy to indoctrinate soldiers. Isolate them then feed them propaganda about the protestors. They're these types of people, they did these things, etc... -

British Tourist Assaulted and Robbed on Bangla Road in Patong
BangkokReady replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
He's a troll, so he's saying whatever he can to aggravate people. Presumably he's implying that the tourist was in the wrong and was either doing something illegal or gay and it went sour. Best to just ignore this user. He rarely makes any sense and has been on the forum under multiple troll accounts for ages. -
British Tourist Assaulted and Robbed on Bangla Road in Patong
BangkokReady replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Could have been begging, the tourist gave him some money, the beggar wanted more, the tourist said his wife had the rest, so the beggar attacked him and stole his bag. Or perhaps it was a "soft-mugging" that turned violent. -
Fight Breaks Out Between Tourists and Local Workers on Karon Beach

You can find it on the Phuket news if you google the article title. -
Tricky. A lot of Thais see it as their duty to get money out of foreign pockets and into Thai ones. There's even a special name for foreigners who don't give money freely to Thai people - farang keenok. There's also the chance of her losing face if you don't tip enough. Ask her how much a Thai would have tipped.

Basically as the title. What are some things that are essential for safe riding back home that might get you in trouble in Thailand? I've heard of things like obeying traffic signals or zebra crossings can get you read-ended (so have a real good look around). What else? Should you still stay in the centre of the lane unless overtaking? Or should you just constantly lane split like Thais do? Any tips for what you need to learn/unlearn would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Photo of tourist at Thai temple sparks online debate
BangkokReady replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai News
It's the effect of social media, and not reserved for Thais. Some people are desperate for something to be outraged about as they see it as a good way of getting attention and feeling special. -
Not really. I'm not really a supporter of the idea of "transphobia" in the first place, given that, as I said, it basically means anything that goes against anything pro-trans. What people claim are transphobic statements from Rowling basically boil down to the idea that women shouldn't have to have people with male bodies in their private spaces, simply because they identify as women. And I agree that women should have that protection and privacy, even if that makes trans women feel bad.
-
It's a nice idea, but the actual definition of transphobic, or the way it is applied, involves pretty much saying anything negative about trans people. I.e. if you have a different opinion to any pro-trans idea, such as saying that you think trans women should not be allowed in female bathrooms, you're being transphobic. Even in this video, where both speakers agree that "I won't impose on you and you won't impose on me" would be viewed as transphobic, as it goes against the key idea of trans women being allowed in female bathrooms. Also, it's a little odd that they only discuss one random tweet, when obviously there are many things that Rowling has done that people have said is transphobic. I actually think this might be staged.

There seems to be a real "halo effect" generated by going up against Trump. This is similar to what happened with Hillary, which was quite unbelievable. It's really amazing how people can be manipulated so easily. Clinton had a real corrupt, corporate America, just out to line her pockets feel, but when she went up against Trump, suddenly she was like this progressive beacon of light and hope. It was really astounding to see otherwise intelligent people suddenly succumbing to some sort of cult-like mind control. Harris was apparently not very popular, has a history of making decisions that people hate, hasn't really done much as VP, yet suddenly she's an angel in bodily form now that she's going up against Trump. It's truly amazing how people allow their minds to be controlled.
