  1. I had a theory about this, many years ago, when comparing the ease of getting visas in Cambodia vs. Laos. I wondered if maybe Thailand wanted people to do their visa runs in Laos rather than Cambodia (for whatever reason) and therefore made it easier to get them in the former and harder in the latter. No idea if that is the case though. If this is somewhere near being true, hopefully this will continue to be the case now.
  2. I genuinely believe he was thinking exactly this. Blind with rage and simply not being capable of putting together firing a gun into a car and someone inside that car dying. No excuse though. Sad.
  3. As the title says, Vietnam is apparently now open with only a pre-flight RT-PCR test within 72 hours of arrival, with visas returning to pre-covid procedures. This means it is, in theory, just as east to get into Vietnam as it is to get into Cambodia. With that in mind, which place is better to go to get a new visa for Thailand? Vietnam or Cambodia? My instinct is to say Vietnam, based on which place is nicer to visit (I especially miss the coffee), but what about getting a visa? Is one country known for being easier on foreigners trying to get visas for Thailand? https://e.vnexpress.net/news/travel/foreign-visitors-can-travel-freely-with-negative-covid-test-health-ministry-4439344.html
  4. It isn't that, or it isn't just that, it's the culture. If you instituted Western style law enforcement on Thai roads tomorrow there would be a national outcry. Thai people just wouldn't accept it. I think people are mistaken when they blame solely government officials for the state of the country. Almost everything that people complain about and blame on the government happens at all levels in Thailand.
  5. Based on the final sentence, I think they mean they will look carefully through your documents and expect you to have everything.
  6. Do these people even know where they are? Isn't Thailand one of the top countries for discriminating against someone based on their looks?
  7. So, this might be a little out there, but why not give the body to the other family so they can get a funeral? Kind of like a wife swap, but a bit different.
  8. You really can't take the moral high ground and claim equality then ridicule someone in such a way. You lose all credibility.
  9. Do you know which one is for teaching in a language school? Is it "teaching" or "work or conduct business"? Thank you.
  10. Also parents not ensuring that their children are actively studying and students knowingly skiving off...
  11. Wouldn't knowing their income be a better measure? And who says paying a dowry guarantees an income in the future?
  12. Why would I need that? Did I specify child prostitution? Do you have something empirical to base that assumption on?
  13. It should be something like across province borders, sure. Not that this isn't despicable, but I'm one for labelling things accurately and avoiding sensationalism or manipulation.
  14. But possibly has a higher rate due to various cultural factors coming together.
  15. Are you? Or are you just trying to bully people who have done something that they felt they had no choice but to do, in the face of a global pandemic, with a member of immigration saying (incorrectly) that everyone would be kicked out of Thailand, with no victims and no one harmed by it, and are now facing possible consequences they had no idea would happen?
