BYD Seal tips, tricks and help
Andrew Dwyer replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I don’t use the voice commands, I don’t dislike them but just haven’t adapted, its probably with a Thai wife and 2 teenagers normally in the car I would have to shout to make myself heard !! One thing I have noticed since the update/SIM change is that using the BYD app to enable the air con doesn’t start the car i.e. have to press the Start button when you get in. Maybe a safety thing but it does feel strange to have the air running but nothing else working ( screens etc ). -
BYD Seal tips, tricks and help

Apparently with the system version upgrade to 2407 it is now not required to downgrade to sideload apps and the “old” method of using a USB flash drive called third party apps together with a password ( BYD6125F ) works again . I guess with the addition of the GBox app it seemed pointless to restrict sideloading apps. The only advantage i now see in sideloading is the ability to create individual shortcuts without going through GBox. Or if you want to add an app not available in Play Store. -

Thanks man that sorted it ! Logged in again with Google ( 2 step verification ) . It cleared the installed apps so put a few up there from available list ( YouTube and YouTube Music etc ) searched for ABRP in Play Store and installed that as well. All good 👍 -
BYD Seal tips, tricks and help

Okay thanks, will try this in the morning. The first time i tried GBox ( yesterday at the dealership) i had to log into my Google account using Two factor Authentication ( or whatever it is called ) but then it would login automatically every time I open GBox. Clicking on my icon in top right only gave me option to sign out so certain I was logged in. In fact I did login in and out a couple of times later in the day trying to kick start it. -

Bit of an anti climax then ! When this appeared in the Wallet 2 months ago i googled it and it said that achieving each tier would give a discount next year, although didn’t say for how long the discounts would apply. Silver = 10% Gold = 20% Platinum = 30% ( which with my schoolboy maths should be 5.6 baht ? ) I thought i had done well to hit 700 kWh until i saw someone posting on FB with over 1000 kWh . As is the FB way others posted their achievements, the highest i saw was 3500 kWh !! -

Nope for me, definitely doesn’t get past the Try Again screen when trying to open Google Play Store or any of the available apps. ( Logged in to Google and all the other installed GBox apps open normally ). I recall when the sim swap was being rolled out a few posts on FB showing the same Try Again screen, I seem to remember seeing a video about it being something about “ Permissions “ but the video seemed quite complicated ( and in Thai ! ) so i didn’t get much of it. Strangely if i try to download a new app from the GBox available list it gives me a message in french “ s’il vous plait ………. permission …….” which i have seen before on my previous GBox app. Unless anyone on here has had a similar experience and has the magic fix i won’t attempt any DIYing as that is destined for failure but might put a post on FB Seal group , unfortunately has to be the Thai group !! -

Presumably they would tell you, I was told. But Network settings will tell you the SIM operator, previously Sing Tel now True. -

Thanks, i will indeed “ Try Again “ tomorrow to see if it just needs a few attempts. Although, suspiciously, when the dealership lady showed me the GBox app it was as my photo above i.e. had some apps already installed and she attempted to open Google Play Store only as if to say “ this one is problematic, you have a go “ Anyway, tbh, I don’t think there is much more i want to add but i will take a look at some of the FB groups who were reporting the same issue and see if anyone has a fix if the problem persists. @JBChiangRai, @Bandersnatch and @mistral53 have also done the SIM swap possibly, i wonder if they are having any similar issues ? -

Did my 1 year/20k service today ( actually due Nov 30th and 19,100 km) but whatever ! Included a tyre rotation and wheel balancing ( paid 417 baht for balancing ).Took 2 hours officially. An update was also performed , system version now 2407, update version V1.3.0 No info available on what actually changed but have noticed a few minor things: Screensaver clock moved from one side to the other (?) Vent/heat seating shortcut on main screen with other air icons. Some changes to settings of AVAS sounds. ( no navigation route planner, more flexibility for shortcut icons or variable indicator sounds as seen in the V1.4.0 update in Europe) Also got the SIM change and gbox download associated with it, some apps already installed. https://assets.aseannow.com/forum/uploads/monthly_2024_12/IMG_5364.thumb.jpeg.ca9fe488b4a7637ceeb7b3dd88593def.jpeg All works, tried YouTube and it works moving gear from P to D so presumably can watch while on the go ( if anyone has a death wish !! ). Good to see ABRP on there as some seem to prefer over Google maps or Waze etc. Google maps will now play in portrait mode which it won’t in CarPlay ( don’t know about Android Auto ). Only thing that failed is Google Play Store refuses to work despite logging into google. https://assets.aseannow.com/forum/uploads/monthly_2024_12/IMG_5365.thumb.jpeg.2145097c125cc437afef4e64ea514c42.jpeg therefore meaning non of the available apps can be added. Apparently this is a common problem, seen plenty on FB struggling with this but haven’t understood how to cure it ……… anyone ? https://assets.aseannow.com/forum/uploads/monthly_2024_12/IMG_5364.thumb.jpeg.ca9fe488b4a7637ceeb7b3dd88593def.jpeg https://assets.aseannow.com/forum/uploads/monthly_2024_12/IMG_5365.thumb.jpeg.2145097c125cc437afef4e64ea514c42.jpegEDIT No idea why the photos were shuffled to the bottom of post ?? -

Was just going to post this. Some will be happy about the customisable icons on the main screen and the seat memory shortcut in particular. Not sure about the karaoke update, lame games or if we will get the YouTube option, which has been available via the browser for a long time, but any updates and optimisation has to be a good thing. Of course this all requires the OTA coming our way, we seem to be lagging behind in getting the newer stuff ( along with Aus ). -
Replacement registration plate
Andrew Dwyer replied to Barnet1900's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I lost a plate in Hua Hin last year, went to the police station (Hua Hin ) and got a report, went back home and reported to Ayutthaya DLT, took 90 days but the police report was with me if i needed it. Incidentally, cost me 105 baht whereas my bil paid around 850 baht !, only difference being his car is financed, some mark up !! -
What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)

Anyone still streaming ? My go-to sites seem to be getting disabled quickly now. Tried watching new Strike on iPlayer but with ExpressVPN buffering soon put a damper on that ! -
As a U.K. bank account holder, since the eighties, am aware of the potential threat of U.K. account closure and seeking an alternative method I opened a Standard and a Savings account with Revolut. Popped a few quid savings in there but didn’t go any further i.e. receiving and forwarding pension or other general transactions etc. As Revolut is now licensed as a U.K. bank ( with restrictions ) since around July I wondered if anything has changed. So, anyone with Revolut ?? Anyone receiving and transferring pensions or general transactions with their Thai bank ? Anything good ? Anything bad ?

I’ve often thought that the instrument cluster screen is cluttered unnecessarily with the stuff you disable appearing in orange colour icons. If, like me, you have information ( I have past 50 km AEC ) portrayed in the middle of instrument cluster other than tyre pressures you are unlikely to notice the addition of another orange icon if one of your tyres goes below a certain threshold. I normally flick onto the tyre pressure screen regularly to give me peace of mind. Well today when i took a glimpse at the tyre pressure screen i got this: The orange “low tyre pressure “ warning icon remains inconspicuous on the instrument cluster ! A red icon would perhaps be better me thinks ?? Luckily was near the BYD showroom and popped in, they soon spotted a rather large screw embedded in the tread and pointed me in the direction of the nearest Be - Quik after putting 40 psi in the offending tyre to get me there. -

That’s a great site right there, some useful information, but i would hasten to say it can’t be taken as verboten !! For example my Seal doesn’t react how stated on the chart, it stays at the same kw level ( depending upon charger speed ) usually 44 kw right up until 99% then drops down gradually 10kw at a time over around 1 minute with a message that the battery is conditioning ( or something like that, i don’t remember exactly )

@motdaeng If you are looking at updating your dash cam arrangement and are in Bangkok then i recommend you look at Sinjet https://www.facebook.com/share/1Ee9ZqteTW/?mibextid=wwXIfr The guy is a whizz kid, started up with the Seal model kit imported from China and now covers all BYD’s in Thailand (M6, Sealion 6 and 7 included ) plus MG4, Xpeng, Changan and others.
