Electric Vehicles in Thailand

A tempting discounted price but only for first 1,084 ordered. The usual EV freebies. Seems like Geely are running a little late . Geely Ayutthaya is just a sign on a gate currently but as it was a previous showroom ( Kia ) wouldn’t take much to get it up and running ……. still a long way from CM though ! -

Great cheese offer at Makro - Buy 1 get 1 FREE

You asked the op about his location when he had clearly stated it in the first post, you could have scrolled back to see that but you chose not to bother. I gave you the answer to your question about the OP’s location but it seems to have gotten you annoyed ? -

My norm is 60% all round and 40% at the front, as the Seal glass roof has no fixed sunshade I chose 80% for the roof. -
The one that comes with the car is fixed at 10amps and if you use in a socket with no earth wire it will not work. ( you might find at some resort or a relatives house there’s no earth present ). The one i used as an example is adjustable up to 16 amps and can work with or without an earth. Both can be used in a standard socket you find in your home for example. The one you have posted goes up to 32 amps so obviously will charge faster but o am not sure if you need to make some adjustments ( increase cable or breaker size for example ) to enable this to work, other posters will be able to answer this .

High Plains Drifter is one of Clint’s best imho, was going to write a little about the plot but decided against that. If you watch it you will remember it early on as is one of his most memorable story lines, again imho. -

Just spotted today that Geely will take over the abandoned Kia dealership here in Ayutthaya on the highway service road, also saw a new dealership downtown, Omoda Jaecoo ( Chery Group ) which came as a bit of a surprise.

I bought one of these also, the granny charger that came with the BYD wouldn’t work on a socket without earth protection which was the case at the mil’s house. So faster charging and overcame the “ no earth “ issue.

M6 has 2 x 6 seater versions also but i agree the Atto 3 is the nicer car. Boils down to how much do you want the extra seats ? would you regret buying the Atto just for the times you have visitors or would the practicality of a 6/7 seater be more important than the more modern Attos looks ?? I think it is down to you now, you have narrowed it down …… almost to one !!!

I see what you are saying, look at Seal, as soon as it gets close to Seal 2025 the 23/24 models prices plummet, same could happen with Sealion 7. I feel like we have gotten past availability and are now into disposability !! It’s amazing how fast the EV invasion is moving at now . -

BYD Seal tips, tricks and help
Andrew Dwyer replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
So just got the OTA notification red dot. Thinking it might be something of interest ( like the route planner etc which apparently can only be done at the dealership ) I eagerly took a look. Just a small one ☹️, but wait a minute haven’t I had the V1.2.2 upgrade before ?? Yes, back on Nov 14th i had it, same number but different content. Oh well, all OTA’s are welcome. -
Regarding the 2nd circuit. ( if TOU meters are still being fitted as a 2nd circuit, if not as reported back in July then forget the following information ) I live in a moobahn and the existing meter ( 15/45 I think from memory ) wouldn’t accept an EV wall charger addition so a 2nd circuit with a TOU meter was required. First step to visit PEA who audited and approved the new TOU meter at a cost of 4,800 baht, they required the car information ( just an online brochure showing charging speed was adequate ) and the Wall charger information ( free ABB charger from BYD , dealer sent an information sheet ), plus receipt for car booking. Wall charger fit by BYD, despite being a “ free installation “ as a second circuit a standard charge of 9k baht was charged ( plus 300 baht for additional cable ). Operation check from original circuit undertaken. Inform PEA and they come to audit charger installation and fit TOU meter and connect to wall charger. So roughly 14k ( TOU meter and BYD 7 kw wall charger ), i roughly estimated with cheaper tariff would ROI at 9k km driven. 42k seems very high, presumably including the price of Wall charger ? NOTE: The 2nd circuit TOU meter is only to be used for charging the EV and no additional sockets allowed. NOTE: Due to reports that new 2nd circuit TOU meters are now not being authorised you should check this primarily with PEA before proceeding.

Great cheese offer at Makro - Buy 1 get 1 FREE
Andrew Dwyer replied to trevoromgh's topic in Chiang Mai
Even that 470 gr for 279 baht is a good deal imo, here in Ayutthaya Makro don’t stock the Mainland brand and seem to change brands all the time, Aro ( Makro own ) is okay, Anchor is good but then sometimes have only Horeca ( the Lipton’s equivalent in cheese making ! ) which is p1ss poor. Any other locations have this 470 gr Mainland ( and hopefully buy 1 free 1 also ) as I only see Chiang Mai ?? -
Pink I.D Card & Yellow Book

My 1,150 baht for passport certified copy was at the British Embassy ……. they don’t call it “rip off Britain” for nothing ! -
Pink I.D Card & Yellow Book
Andrew Dwyer replied to Bangkok Black's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I just dug out my old docs ( passport certified copy at Embassy then translated at MFA and translation of birth certificate also at MFA ) The passport copy has an MFA stamp on the back as does another doc just listing the passport information. The birth certificate translation has no MFA stamp on the back but has a signed stamp on the front presumably from a company who translated. Back in July 2017 Embassy stuff cost 1,150 baht paid in cash at Embassy on the day. MFA stuff cost 450 baht but I seem to remember an additional 200 baht for postage to my home.
