Tourism ministry dual pricing proposal for hotel rates
RocketDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They have become accomplished marksmen and shoot individual toes now. Truly a 'target-rich' environment. -
Your last line struck me strongly. I've lamented the negative regressive influence of religion on humans for a long time. I finally came to the same conclusion. Humans are apparently subject to this particular kind of pernicious mental illness. It's so common it's accepted as normal and is strangely infectious as well. It lies dormant in the human psyche and appears spontaneously and progresses rapidly when encouraged. Those afflicted are very seldom cured. An open mind and the willingness to question accepted dogma is the only defense.

Indeed. From what I've seen many expats could use the exercise. Either that or they're on the way to the beach and are wearing an inner tube under their shirt.

If it truly drops that much voltage then it's dissipating that as heat which would melt insulation, etc. I agree with you.

I answer you. Your daily "Reefer Madness" humor is welcome and timely entertainment. Thanks, and keep it coming. Don't feel bad about plagiarizing the wealth of material from American government on internet archive sites either; it's well past the copyright expiration. Most folks have forgotten or never seen it. Personally I've been missing it for decades now. I encourage you to spice it up with original lurid cautionary tales of rape, murder, insanity, pillage, burning, suicide, birth defects, sexual impotency, organ failure, pimples, hairy palms, beastiality, looting, etc. It's all timeless humor. Maybe some of the Thai publicans will pick it up as a syndication. Think 'Big Baht' and rest assured that you have at least one fan boy out there.

Thai PM: If you've never smoked weed before, don't try it now!
RocketDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I bought a 5g lot of Thai commercial for ฿500 online from a shop in Bangkok. It actually weighed 7g when I opened it. I guess my tolerance is way down after being dry here for 5 years because it was more than good enough to do the job for me. Maybe age is a factor too. I now have no plans to buy any of the more powerful imported stuff at the higher prices. There's a difference between relaxing and becoming incoherent. In any event, I am quite pleased that I can now easily access the one thing I missed the most after moving here, (after I found peanut butter in Big C.) ???? -
I never even open what I know is trash from looking at the header and sender. Also I never open ANY links in ANY email unless I can verify it. My reasoning is that I can't rely on myself to be able to identify all the new and evermore subtle scams that are appearing. If the message is legitimate they find another way to contact me.

A French city approved burkinis in its pools. Then the backlash came
RocketDog replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
A few years ago a Muslim immigrant to America went to court with a state government because she was denied a driver's license photo in her full burqua with eye slits only. She lost her case. In a number of western countries people in full burqua are not allowed to enter banks because they are indistinguishable from robbers and can easily be hiding assault weapons. . Just a matter of clothing choice, no? Decisions based on prejudice are not necessarily wrong decisions. -
A French city approved burkinis in its pools. Then the backlash came

There is no true 'freedom of religion' in countries with a predominantly large Muslim population. This is not a coincidence. Do you know of any Muslim countries with a democratic form of government and a large degree of tolerance for other religions or cultures ? The French are belatedly trying desperately to hold the line against the inevitable Muslim takeover of the country. Letting so many Muslim immigrants into their country and making them citizens with voting rights sealed their fate and led to this outcome. It's simply hard to admit the mistake they made and its consequences. High birthrates among immigrants compared to native French guarantee a demographic shift that can only end in a Muslim majority and the imposition of sharia law as they are elected to office. The French believed the immigrants would assimilate into French culture without understanding that the entire history of Islam disputes that. It's the same silly notion America had about democratizing Muslim countries in the Middle East and even earlier about Vietnam and China. It's pretty clear how that's worked out. In actual fact it will be the French culture that will be subsumed. The easiest way to conquer a country is to simply slowly replace its population/culture with your own. In a nominally democratic country the voters control the government and create the culture. It's not a question of religion, but one of culture. The culture and history of Islam is to assimilate, not to be assimilated. It's not an organized effort, it's an organic effect like water eroding the hardest stone over time. Some will see my post as bigotry. Before you squeal spend some time looking at the statistics, the last two decades of French immigration policy, and the rapid rise of the Muslim population and the social unrest it has caused. If you have German or French expat friends ask them how their homeland has changed in the last ten years. Any effective efforts to reverse this trend will be met with 'woke' outrage, accusations of racism, and platitudes like you expressed, so it's a done deal for France. -
Of course, because such kids were never able to access the plants their family, friends, and neighbors were growing and selling illegally. The entire social landscape has changed now.... Not. The genie was never in the bottle, (unless you truly are talking about an American TV sitcom) here are anywhere else in the world. Pot from Thailand was available in America in the 1960's.

Yes. You make slices in the pod, let the sap exit and dry. Then scrape it and smoke it. Or simply let the pods dry and make tea. Easy peasy. It is in fact very easy to make opium from poppies and smoke it ; at least as easy as curing and manicuring the buds from ganga flower. There is no chemical processing needed.

I made an appointment for my extension of stay last month at Huahin immigration. I took a number when I entered and waited. When my appointment passed I waited a few more minutes for my number to come up. The officer scolded me and told me I should have walked up to his window and informed him when my appointment was due. That seemed rude to me but that's what I'll do next time for sure. Apparently it's up to us to press the issue.

What we're seeing is just a manifestation of internecine political gaming. It seems to me half the government was asleep and Anutin sneaked one past them for political gain in his canny bid for Prayuts' job. Now his opponents must apply a reactionary political response in whatever inane way they can. This is all political football and ganga is the ball. Just relax. All of this nonsense will implode soon. It is much too late to stuff this elephant back into the bag, to mix a metaphor. THC-potent pot is here to stay. There is a simply too much popular support and profits to be made. Regardless of how the laws are 'modified' it will be readily available either under or over the counter just like everything else in the Kingdom.

Since UV exposure activates what your skin secretes to form Vit D, why would skin color make adifference? The chemistry happens on the surface of the skin.
