I was looking at Health Insurance I don’t have any basically self insure after the incident with Ed Sweeney where he had a brain problem, the hospital bill including repatriation flight to the U.K. was £100000, he was covered by his insurance company.

They said it was because I was on medication for heart disease.

I recently applied for Health Insurance, aged 72 with a company whose name is what you use for chopping firewood, I don’t want to mention their name. I have been taking 20mg statins for 2 years, my cholesterol was around 6 now around 4 after taking the statins. Their reply was, I don’t have heart disease. I thought they would refuse me because I had Prostate Cancer but was discharged in 2017.

I am outraged a tin of beans in the U.K. is £1.60, only a couple years ago 50/60p, what excuse is used for the 100% increase ?

I have no problem paying for an initial consultation, a colleague paid ฿3000 at the government hospital in Si Racha for treatment for his g/f cysts which I wouldn’t have a problem paying for. After discussing the subject today my g/f I have known her for 10 years has just said out of the blue why don’t we register we are married at the Amphur Office. Would that make me liable for any medical cost or any debts she incurred ?

It’s not a cost implication, I think she is frightened to go in the event it’s some thing serious., the owner is a Thai lady who lives across the road. My gf Thainess is beyond belief at times re don’t question anyone, or ask for a favour etc.

We live in a house, I am not sure what the implications of adding someone to the HB would be, would the owner be in any way responsible for her. My girl is friendly with the owner, she only has this one rental property. I will try and convince her to speak with the owner.

Yes her friends have the same problem, I have asked her to speak to the owner about adding her and our son to her House Book but she appears reluctant to ask. What she doesn’t appreciate is I am not a ‘millionaire’ and not in a position to pay out for hospital costs. Unfortunately you are at the discretion of the individual Immigration Officer and there is no real way to dispute with the one you are dealing with individually. Did you speak with an Immigration Officer or one of the ladies on reception ?

Mandatory at Jomtien irrespective if you returned to the same address or not, never used to be though.

Are the hotels not protected by something similar to ABTA under German Law ?

A few of the hotels use electric buggies to transport people to the hotel from the pier, are they legal, what’s the difference from a member of the public driving one ?

Of my many trips over the years to Koh Larn I never seen a motor bike rider wearing a helmet. Judging by how some of the motor bike riders drive them I doubt they have ever driven one before, maybe a car but not a bike.

On my regular trips to Koh Larn the vast majority of tourists are Thais not foreigners, they are the ones riding about on motor bikes with out helmets.

i go to Koh Larn regularly since just after Covid,I use the baht buses opposite the Wat next to the market, they cover all the beaches, 30 baht one way.
