*if it runs Windows 10, because Windows 10 is simply unusable on HDD. I do confirm that SSDs are generally faster, but there are nuances too: some cheap SSDs are actually slower than HDDs! you must look for SSDs that 1) have DRAM 2) made with MLC (recommended) or TLC (less recommended, sometimes marketed as "3-bit MLC") technology, not QLC. QLC SSD without DRAM will be slower than HDD.

Rare Manta rays found around Thailand’s Rok Islands
fdsa replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
I sincerely hope this post is a sarcasm. -
I'd recommend to. I wasn't able to register one of those yearly SIMs online, AFAIR it was DTAC, so now I go to shop for a "manual" registration every year with each new SIM.

No, thanks surely I'm logged in! It seems that they are purposedly limiting the functions of the website to force customers install an "app". OK nvm I could live without "favourites" function.

There is nothing like this on the website, and I've even tried entering urls like shopee.co.th/likes shopee.co.th/user/likes shopee.co.th/user/my-likes shopee.co.th/user/account/my-likes etc manually.

Shopee rant: does anyone know where to find my favourites/wishlist? i.e. where you click on "heart" icon near some product - where does it go to? I [thought that] have saved a few items to buy later and now could not find that wishlist anywhere.

just a general warning for Thai people who buy a SIM card and share its internet for a whole crowd as a "free WiFi" in their bar. I do, no problem with DTAC, neither with AIS. And a personal recommendation - buy a DTAC sim. https://aseannow.com/topic/1236854-ais-vs-dtac-vs-truemove-true-h-technical-info-for-it-nerdsnolifers/? Please search this forum for "unlimited 1 year sim", it was discussed a million times already. You could buy 20 megabit/s unlimited sim for ~1600 baht for the whole year (~150 THB/mo)

Bloatware removal Realme Note 10 Pro android
fdsa replied to kuma's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
It seems that you are wrong and your device is actually called "Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro" - I've found it in TWRP database: https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomiredminote10pro.html (lold @ their naming btw) So - good news - the root is possible, thus a removal of the preinstalled apps should be possible too. I'm comparing them to Korean phones, not the fruity ones. This manual looks legit: https://www.guidetoroot.com/unlock-bootloader-on-any-xiaomi-phones/ and it tells that you have to kindly ask Xiaomi to unlock your phone, by installing yet another bloatware to your computer. And the comments section tells that Xiaomi might not unlock it if they don't want -

It never stops to amuse me when people buy chinese phones which are created for a single purpose - to collect the Big Data, and then these people desperately try to shut down that collection You've paid for that phone $500 less than a normal phone might cost, don't you understand why it was that cheap? Also today I've learned that these poor souls have to ask Xiaomi to unlock their phones :D Well, back to the topic: as your device is not listed there: https://twrp.me/Devices/Realme/ nor there: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/ - it might be not possible to unlock/root/remove all the bloatware. -
Hackers in Thailand hacked a hotel. Looking for a legal advice.

it is called "TiT" here -
Hackers in Thailand hacked a hotel. Looking for a legal advice.
fdsa replied to plus7's topic in General Topics
Well, that's really interesting. Topic author mentioned the DKIM signature - if it is really valid (verified with DNS records) and the MX record is valid - then it's either an insider or hacker has access to hotel's mail accounts (or internal user accounts). But given this post: I bet it's an insider or hotel staff making some extra money, rather than any alleged "hackers". A large hotel did not block the supposedly hacked email account within 1.5 months?! LOL. P.S. Plot twist: author is sued by the hotel for defamation -
Phuket Vaccination Sign-up Site Now Open For All Foreigners
fdsa replied to Pattaya Spotter's topic in Phuket
You dont even need to register anywhere to get AZ, I was offered AZ in every single hospital I visited (but not the "Bangkok Phuket" last time), but I do not want it and prefer Pfizer instead. -
Phuket Vaccination Sign-up Site Now Open For All Foreigners
fdsa replied to Pattaya Spotter's topic in Phuket
No, I prefer personal visits to hospitals as I do not trust websites made by some schoolboy as a "my first website" lab project and do not want my personal information to appear for sale on darknet marketplaces. I made that mistake already by registering on expatvac.consular.go.th -
Phuket Vaccination Sign-up Site Now Open For All Foreigners
fdsa replied to Pattaya Spotter's topic in Phuket
I visited all major hospitals again and the situation is still the same as one month ago: no Pfizer as a first doze, only as a booster; and they are throwing away Sinovac and Astrazeneca as there is a little demand for these. However there is a new thing since my last check - Bangkok Hospital Phuket now does not have any vaccine at all. New rumor: there are Pfizers given away for free every week at Saphan Hin, but you need to find a secret group in Line and register there. As I can't read Thai and don't have a Line account I'm out of luck -
Sinovac and Astrazeneca are available in all major hospitals except "Bangkok Hospital Phuket" (they've told me they don't have any vaccines at all). Just walk in and you'll get a vaccine. Pfizer as a 1st doze is not available anywhere, only as a 3rd booster doze.

Preserving Privacy When Using Shoppee/Lazada/Google Play
fdsa replied to JomtienEats's topic in IT and Computers
Privacy is a criminal offence. A honest person has nothing to hide. -
The best and cheapest way to send a laptop is to ask somebody coming in Thailand to take the laptop with them. All courier services create much expenses, with DHL being the most expensive one. You might be made to pay import tax even with USPS regular mail. concerning the right to repair - we have old Thinkpads which still have spare parts being made in China. Some chinese enthusiasts even make custom motherboards to put newer CPUs into old cases, and replace old TFT LCDs with new better ones - fullHD IPS.

lol thanks, will know that HP laptops are a P.o.S (their servers are too, btw) this is very strange because Intel usually has good drivers for Linux. Have you tried rfkill and other commands from the posts above?

yes no, shopee's tracking is just about the same. Lazada's search engine just does not work, Shopee's search is much better. I used exclusively Lazada for a few years until I got fed up with its nuisances and scams, now >95% of my orders are on Shopee and <5% Lazada.

If anybody is going to a hospital (any) for a booster - please ask if Pfizer vaccines became available for a first shot, not a booster. I've asked everywhere a few weeks ago and was offered only Sino- or Astra- as a first shot. For farang, with work permit, haven't got any vaccine before. Thanks in advance
