Bicycling from Chumphon to Penang, Malaysia
In the jungle replied to carlf's topic in Southern Thailand
Go to Surat Thani then cross to the west. If you are looking for a tougher test go from Chumphon to Ranong and then down the west coast. This route is quite pretty but plenty of hills. -
Help urgent Re eVisa Vietnam.
In the jungle replied to DrJack54's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
I interpret your current visa as the window within which you must enter is 25 October to 9 November. In theory you could enter multiple times within that brief window but for most people it means that a multiple entry visa is of no greater value than a single entry visa. The next question is what leave to enter will you actually be granted. Right now that is unanswered. I am showing an interest in this topic because I plan to travel to Vietnam in December. -

He sounds like a good choice. He, for sure, will know where to take the head.

Sorry. Brain fade. Milling machine is what I have seen used in Thailand.

Yes. 1K baht. The work is done on a lathe which you will see in just about any machine shop. It takes less than an hour. The key is the skill of the lathe operator. A lathe operator who does not understand the job or does not have skill in its use can turn your head in an expensive door stop in short order. I have done this job on at least fifty cylinder heads in Thailand. By 'done' I mean took the head to a shop that did the work.

I heard it when I had a holiday job at Marks and Sparks on one Pound an hour. It was management speak for staff theft. It was a bloody awful job. Soul destroying.

Shrinkage was in use in the UK as far back as the 1970s referring to theft by staff.

Price more like 1K. The key thing is to find a shop that knows what they are doing.

New Toyota Yaris Cross question?
In the jungle replied to SBACM's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The only way that is worth 900K is if they throw in the chick with the twin air bags. -
Ignoring environmental considerations EVs have some inherent advantages over ICE that are undeniable: 1. NVH 2. Weight distribution 3. Power and torque delivery 4. Simplicity 5. Minimal servicing But if you buy an EV right now you are buying the Sinclair ZX80 of EVs and paying an early adopters premium for doing so. In five years time there will be EVs way better and way cheaper. Another significant downside to owning an EV is that most people will assume, with good reason, that you are probably a smug self righteous prat.

Did you consider the possibility that others may have a different experience to you? My experience is in line with the OPs. -

So you think he should give up at the first bump in the road. Your advice is poor and unhelpful. What interest have you in closing down this guy's options? -
What is the real deal with proposed foreign income tax changes?
In the jungle replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I do wonder whether the Thai Revenue department actually have mechanisms in place to know who has been here more than 180 days a year. Sure Immigration have that information in their system but I would be willing to bet that calculating whether you were here more than 180 days a year would be a manual process on a case by case basis. To illustrate my point I have been here 23 years and I have had no contact with the Revenue Department. Until 2019 I had never applied for an extension of stay. I don't think Thai officialdom are big on 'joined up government'. The same is true of many western governments. -
Are you thinking of buying a BYD EV?
In the jungle replied to DUNROAMIN's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
That is a bit of a simplistic approach. EV evangelists bang on about environmental considerations normally. -
