  1. Fail to see the problem, I concluded many deals on the golf course or at the 19th hole, it was a normal way to do business.
  2. My experience earlier this month was this, Copies of passport photo page, 1 year visa extension stamp, 90 day report slip. Front and back copies of old 5 year licence, Pink ID card, and 1st 2 pages of yellow book. Medical certificate, 60 baht. 1 hour doing the DLT e-learning course, in Thai but with English subtitles. Had to answer 1 question from each of the 4 episodes. Show QR code upon successful completion. You can do this in advance and present the QR code to the DLT for verification upon arrival. Colour and reaction tests, photo. Collect new licence, 505 baht. Obviously offices around the country vary in true Thai style, mine was in Roi Et.
  3. It's just the usual Thai mumbo jumbo of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing...
  4. Don't need 1 as I have a full 5 year Thai DL. Previously some 16 plus years ago I used a IDP issued in the UK without any problems here.
  5. Thailand the hub of being guilty before you are charged with anything and even after you have been found not guilty, you still are. The so called justice system is a gross infraction on human rights along with other things in Thailand.
  6. Maintaining trust and transparency. There is no trust and transparency to be maintained the organisation is riddled with corruption and scammers
  7. Good, I hope the chinese lose all their investments, I for one won't be buying the crap particularly if it's labelled premium. I haven't come across anything remotely premium in their products to date, cheap crap
  8. It's all a scam, I avoid anything artificial especially bolt ons...
  9. Good luck with that approach because LBs can be very violent as I have witnessed with silletto heels being embedded in a guy's head during a altercation, claret everywhere. A polite non confrontational engagement is my recommendation.
  10. Not unless you took the cowards way out and topped yourself like the guy in the story.
  11. Just another layer of veneer on Thai society in general trying to cover up the rotten wood underneath.
  12. Unfortunately the level of corruption in Thailand means that the rug is so huge it covers the whole country.
  13. There has never been any sort of strategy, they are purely driven by numbers arriving at the gate...
  14. I used the DLT e-learning App and there is a version with English subtitles which I used 3 weeks ago to renew my 5 year licence. The guy in my local DLT office set it up for me. Try Google, DLT e-learning in English
  15. Well I don't stay at that hotel because regardless of the environment the room rates are extortionate for a town in Isaan and it's in the middle of a market... Far better value to be had a couple of hundred metres down the road.
  16. This has been going on for decades, poorly paid people given loans that don't equate to their income. Especially in the public sectors, police, army, teachers, doctors and nurses etc... All can get loans from government banks at silly times more than their salaries.
  17. It's the same everywhere, price goes up, content goes down Still cheaper than most places, if you can't afford it don't order it
  18. IME they are all liars, obviously there are varying degrees. I just BS back. Most can't remember a conversation from last night let alone anything else about what you or for that matter what she said. It's a game, play the game or get sucked in...
  19. He is such a dumb piece of excrement, he says wait until the investigation is complete but before that has even happened he already knows it's not terrorism related. Another incompetent PM unelected who like his predecessor is a know it all...
  20. I'm sure she listened intently to his confession and was in awe of his band playing antic's. She has probably never heard of NI and certainly won't be able to pick it out on a map, due to the total lack of interest in geography in Thai schools, let alone know anything about the troubles and the differences in the various factions that were involved...
  21. A bottle of beer at the 39 beer bar and you get 1 baht change, at least that was the case a few weeks ago
  22. Not while in Thailand. I recently renewed mine it only took 3 weeks. You get 30 days to collect the new one, after that it's returned to the UK. 2 trips to BKK but some R&R and shopping makes a change from the Isaan village.
  23. There are plenty of citizens who are Thai nationals but identify as Khmer and speak as their first language one of many Khmer dialects. I have them in my family. As well as others who speak the Lao dialect. Thailand is full of ethnic groups whose culture and language isn't central Thai orientated but are Thai nationals.
  24. Best to rip it all out, it's very hard to completely eradicate termites in my experience as they bore into the centre of the wood and replace with steel which is cheap at the moment due to the chinese dumping here. That's what I did to my garage and store rooms, I repurposed some of the tiles to save mobey and bought new ones.
